Re: Tats BigHit 3 BBS02 / Demo 8 ii phaserunner h35 Build

Looking at the photos, it seems the bottle cage will hit the rack with just sag, and the rack and saddle before full travel?

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

I just broke a rear sprocket tooth clean off Yeap! Did that! On the 19 or 21 tooth. Photo coming. Do you feel like you need multiple gears with this much power and this many rpm to work with? If you can get by with a single speed chain you can pretty much immediately eliminate your driveline proble...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

X, what were you doing exactly when the chain snapped? Nothing crazy, was just pulling away from a red light, smooth road, straight chain line. Was thinking maybe the chain got damaged when testing out the 120A controller, and then snapped after I put everything back This is not just a mud / bash g...

Re: 3 kW Cyclone Middrive, The Budget Dream Kit

I agree that this kit is a steal for what it can do. I'm sure it can be improved further for little cost. Here's my stock build up, just to test it out. Was quite impressed with how quiet it runs! Just got this kit a few weeks ago after Luna restocked. RMFresh_ES.jpg RMBB_ES.jpg ISISBBWidth_ES.jpg C...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

Sup guys! Thanks for the shout out on the chain watcher John Bozi. I'll tell you just the other day I had my chain snap, and it flung forward so hard it bent the stainless M8 bolt I'm using 30 degrees forward. Was able to bend it back straight with a pair of 10" cobra pliers. That's after I foot sco...

Re: *SOLD OUT* 17 Inch Moto Wheels - 150 Bux per set!

I'm trying to find a rear hub like you use here. Two sided 6-bolt. Any information on where to find those? or what style or intended application it is for? Thank you!

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

The six bolt disc brake flange for the rear wheel sprocket will be on the right side. The disc brake rotor will be in it's stock location on the left. I swear I saw a photo of the hub that can do this, dual 6-bolt style. Can't seam to find it again. Any info? I'm going to be looking for a 150mm ver...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

Lots of good info there eMTBHunter! I'm still not quite sure why 7-speed seems like a better option? Ok, yes, the cogs themselves are thicker, but commonly lower end components (materials and manufacture). The reason 10 and 11 speed chains are just as strong (if not stronger) is that they are made f...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

Has anyone here run the Big Block at 88V? I run 72v nominal, 84v fully charged on the Big Block Typically the shift indexing is not done by the derailleur, but by the shifter. So that should mean that you can use a clutched derailleur with a 7 speed shifter to get indexing at 7 gears but still have...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

Sounds good. I'm hearing 16, 18 and 20. 18 is in the middle so that seems safe enough. What sort of derailleur are you contemplating? To be able to shift into 42+ tooth sprockets seems to require either something like the oneup radr cage or wolftooth goat link to modify a 10 speed derailleur, or an...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

Many good topics going in this thread im searching for a good way to make a robust Freewheel on a rearhub for my next project, a (frame)-build from scratch. wondering if the ultra HD-FW from SBP would be a good joice for 4000-5000W... not sure, maybe the DT Swiss would be the better joice for handli...

Re: Max current draw issue?

I'm having a hard time believing my ass size is the problem here. Using a CA3 for measurements. Can anybody confirm that two batteries, each with their own BMS, can be hooked up in parallel and have their max amperage doubled? If I go and get a 100 amp controller, is it still going to peak at...

Re: by pass a BMS that may be the cause of issues

No;, see bolded part of your statement. ;) If the controller can only safely pull 65A then that's what it can pull. If you can program it or modify the shunt (lots of threads about each of those) then you can pull more current, but if the controller can't safely handle it it may just blow up. :( It...

Re: by pass a BMS that may be the cause of issues

This thread seems young and alive so I might find some help here!: I have 2 identical 72v 11.6Ah luna battery packs, each one has a BMS with 50A continuous 70A peak. I could only ever draw 55A max out of a single pack. I have both packs hooked together in parallel, but still only drawing 55A max (vo...

Max current draw issue?

If you hook two with bms in parallel, that's fine. I have 2 identical 72v 11.6Ah luna battery packs, each one has a BMS with 50A continuous 70A peak. I could only ever draw 55A max out of a single pack. I have both packs hooked together in parallel, but still only drawing 55A max. Controller is Lye...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

Replacing the shear pins with a stronger material is just stupid. Sorry for the harsh word. We're not talking about using a stronger chain to withstand the higher power. We're talking about removing a safety feature that was just made for that only purpose. Rohloff knows the power/torque their hubs...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

Several people have run Rohloffs with Astro 3220s at up to 10kW. Other than needing to back off to shift the Rohloff handled 10k just fine. Still want those links!! The only bikes I've seen running that much power are either hub motors, or using a fixed cog to the hub (no freehub, direct drive). Er...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

OK...I want a Rohlhoff!!! Right! I gotta see these 10,000W builds! Or hear how it holds up with LR direct drive setup. Thinking about the multiple rider tandem, what's your best guess to total max power output? I'd reckon 300W a rider, for maybe 1500-2100 watts. I can only imagine all the drivetrai...

Is that with the modified aluminum shear pins? Looking into it more I quickly came across this article: https://www.electricbike.com/a-rohlof...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

Has anyone tried a Rohlhoff hub with a big block? My understanding (I might be wrong) is they will shift under load and hold up under significant load quite well. I'm quite curious to see how a Rohloff holds up. One, you cannot shift it under load, you "can" under light loads, but should be shifted...
