Re: What is the best personal electric transportation?

Spend a bit more, get a proper electric unicycle, they're without doubt in my mind the greatest last mile personal transport solution there is atm and superb fun. I've had one for about 6 months now. Have put more miles on it than the previous 2 years on my ebikes - mainly because I can ride this pl...

Re: Electric drift trikes

Pretty much the same as a sitting one cept boards either side to kneel on. 1. Get your knees as close to the ground as possible. 2. Don't need a slack angle on the heads, better close to perpendicular. 3. Some kind of rail for you knees helps heaps. Other than that build what works for ya, my pics w...

Re: Electric drift trikes

Don't knock it till you've tried it. However you get the back end to step out its fun as hell. I've tried both front and rear wheel drifting. Both are fun. Drift by definition is a controlled skid. Doesn't matter how you achieve that. Drift does not necessarily mean powered skid. You drift a motorbi...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

The chainring maximum size would be an issue for sure. Also from 2010 onwards I think the Giant Anthem and glory has the curved bottom bar of the frame, they suck for a mid-drive without changing the bottom brackets so you can have it a lot further forward, otherwise the motor will point right down ...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

Go test ride some bikes. A good bike with geometry that fits you is a hell of a lot easier to ride and pedal. If its good to ride without a motor, it'll be even better with a motor.
Disk brakes are a bloody good idea, and hydraulic is better than cable almost always.

Re: Electric drift trikes

Please have a go at kneeling, would be an easy temporary conversion on yours. Even if just to see what its like. Take off the seat, adjust the handlbars forward some and put on some knee pads. You'll notice right away I think the major benefits to doing it (waaaaaaay more traction on the front and m...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

For a single sprocket setup, wouldn't be that hard to have a completely 219 chain setup... now THAT would have to be strong enough :-)

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

I was thinking he could keep a guide at the back but have the tensioner at the front, both single wheel, avoiding the double wrap s-path he has now.

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

My twisting (small block but maestro suspension on an anthem) is in the swing arm I think not the main frame, but I like the arm. I should probably make something like that and see if it improves things for mine. What about putting a tensioner closer to the front sprockets, mounted on the front of t...

Re: The Beast Mid Drive. Giving 3 Away to Beta Testers!!!

Glad Ions82 brought it up because its what I was thinking from the beginning. Anything above 2kw is starting to really strain bike components, not just in my experience but it seems others have found the same. Rear derailleurs can't hack it, and who can afford a Rohloff! Now if there was say, a 5 sp...

Re: Electric drift trikes

It feels loads less awkward to me. Feels much more controllable, even more stable which is counter intuitive. I guess because you can apply body movement far more than if you're sitting down. I haven't got a lot of seat (sic) time in it yet though. I'm achieving sliding with less inertia needed by s...

Used to be know as Belan state forest until it was a site for nuclear testing in the 60's.
They recommend if travelling through it you keep food in airtight containers, and stick to the formed path's.
If going through at night you should wear full PPE and drop-bear repellant.

Re: LightningRods mid drive, givitago's build

I thought you might mean the Nuvinci. I think I found a spec saying they were rated for up to 250w. Only has a grip shift which I don't like but I could live with that. They're about $400 here in Australia (off ebay). A bit more for the 36H with disk adapter. The few threads I've found talking about...

If there's a IGH or CVT rear end suitable for 1500w + builds that doesn't cost what a Rohloff costs... I wanna know about it too! :-)

Re: Electric drift trikes

I've just finished rebuilding my drift trike to kneel on instead of sit on.... and I can report now first hand, kneeling blows sitting down out of the water. You can drift much much better, you can get the back end to flick much much easier, just all around, its better imo. The ability to shift your...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

Also, both my "48v" LIFEPO4 pack are 16S(1P). Low voltage cut-off is about 48v so maybe that's where its getting its rating from (for the first pack which I bought ready made, the second one I made up myself). Cryptic, try all the combo's, the one that gives the smoothest throttle response, and quie...

1 sec in and I know what that is, go back a page or two and you'll see my vid, close to the same thing.
Yellow to yellow, blue to green, green to blue, for both hall and phase wires.
