Re: Inside look at new 50h QSmotor V4 8000W 13" hub motor

Ok then. Perhaps this is a case of "my bad". Maybe I learned something, maybe not... OTOH, the "conventional wisdom" regarding what this curve actually means (as documented) doesn’t make sense to me, as I'm sure it doesn't to many others. No worries, the suggestion changes from QSmotor works and th...

Re: Inside look at new 50h QSmotor V4 8000W 13" hub motor

All that extra copper length and resistance. It's got distributed winding, how can it be worth it? In theory there's less harmonics and eddy losses, higher winding factor but it must be possible to improve a lot with a concentrated winding.. It does have concentrated wingings, maybe take a closer l...

Re: Ampera/Volt inverter with Lebowski brain

It has been done by some guys in the Ukraine I think. A video on YT showing an Ampera/Volt inverter running a Nissan Leaf motor in a Peugeot van. There are a couple of videos showing the inverter, it is hard to be certain but it looks like they are driving the 6 half bridges in closest pairs ie 1 an...

Re: Sevcon error

0x4DC3 error is " Battery voltage has dropped below critical level". I would investigate that as a priority.

The others are top mosfet short circuit on all three phases, that is motor phase to Bat+. Following Fechter's advice will determine if that is the case. Let us know how you get on.

Re: Power PCB for Lebowski Controller to be combined with Bobc's processor board

Thanks to Whereswally606 who sent me two blown boards from which I was able to scavenge almost enough parts to repair Coles blown BobC board. A big heads up to anyone using BobC's board and following the build instructions, there is a typographical error where it is suggested that the board can be t...

I'm doing that as well with my design (but I'm getting a part from Digi-Key) one day I'll get around to finishing it and actually building one up

Andy
Your version looks very professional, it would be nice to see a lot of them in use.

Re: Sanity check: outrunner with large no-load current, low inductance

What controller are you using or recommending that can supply the 611Amps DC required to generate 22kw at 90% eff driven at 40v? That is 2.4kw of heat, how long is a 4kg motor going to take before it turns into a demagnetized paper weight. I wouldn't, i recommended half the kv or half the volts and...

Re: Sanity check: outrunner with large no-load current, low inductance

Does your 120/90 motor have sufficient torque to maybe gear it down and run it slower? Eddy current losses are proportional to the square of the frequency. +1 yes, running this motor to 6500rpm unloaded would use 1kw as would producing about 40Nm (that it can do), so loaded to that level is fully m...

Re: Power PCB for Lebowski Controller to be combined with Bobc's processor board

Hey guys. This has been playing on my mind a while. I dont think the circuit for the 80v to 15v is anywhere near as robust as required. With that said i bought an 80v to 15v circuit on alibaba to off load this job from the brain board. I will reiterate i have very limited time to help but i will se...

No trouble, thank you for all you've done already! I've contacted Lebowski, but haven't heard back, yet. Kiwi, if you want a shot at it, I'm happy to send your way. I think we'll have to get Lebowski involved somehow, since it'll need a new dspic, but no need to have him do it all. I'll pm you my a...

Re: Ampera/Volt inverter with Lebowski brain

OK i tried to measure leaf motor ohm resistance. I used 30V and 10A as a reference. Result was 110.5mV. I tried all phase wires variations. Therefore if i use ohm law.... and get 0,01105ohm = 110.5mohm Then i divide this to get one legs worth of 55.25mohm! Would that be correct? I dont have more po...

Now that I have the motor open (easy to do with a gear puller), I need help identifying some wires. What are the two fine wires that go from "J5 GAGE" on the controller (first image) to the center of the rotor where they disappear at the rotor under black sealant (third picture)? What are the three...

Google and bing were for some reason very aggressively crawling the site- I'm currently trying to get it back, should be back online in a few days. Regarding open sourcing this stuff, I'm not sure. Re: Ampera/Volt inverter with Lebowski brain

Deadtime distortion makes the resistor measurement very unreliable (but does not affect the inductor measurement much). So more deadtime, more wrong value. It is better to override this value by hand, typical value to aim for is R = L/X, with X roughly 1e-3 (all motor seem to have time constants in...

Re: Ampera/Volt inverter with Lebowski brain

Great news! What gear are you using in the RX8 and how does the overall reduction ratio compare to the Leaf? Top speed on 200V? The real mystery is why your controller was giving you a reading of only 6.66 mOhms.

Re: Power PCB for Lebowski Controller to be combined with Bobc's processor board

EDIT: Bad, bad, bad news bears. I've apparently killed the microcontroller. I gave it 5V power through the hall connection as seen in BobC's original thread and saw smoking on the dspic. Don't really have a clue what I did, which is probably the problem. At this point, I'm happy to send the assembl...

Alright brain trust, tried powering up for the first time and it was a miserable failure. Tried powering up the brain board separately and saw the faintest flicker from an LED, then nothing. I can't see anything obvious as to why there'd be an issue. Anyone want to take a shot at diagnosing the pac...

Re: Lebowski's motor controller IC, schematic & setup, new v2.A1

I think that there is something fundamentally wrong with your setup if you are getting 6.66 mOhms for motor resistance. The resistance posted by Arlo for the Gen1 motor is over 20mOhms which agrees with the figure I get for the gen2 motor. Also I think you are asking for trouble setting 500ns for de...

Try each of these in turn: Yellow --> Black, Blue --> Brown, Green --> Blue Yellow --> Brown, Blue --> Blue, Green --> Black...

I think member frodus is working with someone else on this, try contacting him. The guts of it is you need a CAN transceiver on your RP to read the sevcon data and convert it to a graphical display. There are CAN shields for Arduino that would work along with the OBD2 library you can decode sevcon C...

Tesla small drive board uses large igbts??? Symantecs, the 1MBI600U4B-120/1MBI800U4B-120 bricks you use have more than one IGBT in them despite the datasheet showing only one. Some 3 phase modules I have looked at have 36 IGBT elements within them. Tesla uses a massive array of descreet's that must...
