Re: Dave's 80:1 RC mid drive kit build log

I don't know much about the other mid drive, but what I've seen here must radical support and ludicrous improvement and attention to details. From what I've read about daves drives they are both about the highest torque to the ground drive around, uses high quality Astro motor and are now available...

Re: Dave's 80:1 RC mid drive kit build log

That looks amazing ! Could you share the weight of the new 3220 kit or how much weight you saved with GEN2 ? I am trying to estimate how much weight I would save by switching to the Tangent (I have a cyclone 3000W right now) Remi why would you switch to the tangent from the c3000w as they are both ...

Re: Tangent inner-drive chainring replacement/BCD

So your 6kw tangent lasted only 500 miles and you're still immensely happy ? That sounds like a design fail to me or cost cutting, or maybe that's how they get such low weight using aluminium chainrings...? I guess long life or reliabilty is not on their priorities :) You would think even steel ones...

Re: Cyclone 3000W Solid Motor Mounts

I think i prefer the AFT C3000w brackets : http://www.aft-ebike.com/c3000w.html They seem to use thicker aluminium plates whereas this one uses the original thin mount plates ? As it just has a solid block in the middle that would weigh a lot? Also the AFT one seems to grab the motor from the outsid...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

How many Kms did you run your C3000w at what power/ voltage until the plastic planetary gears broke ? this seems to be coming a more common problem? someone else posted same thing recently: https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=87790&p=1282208#p1282208 For those people experiencing ...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

Ahh maybe that corrosion on the rotor is why AFT upgraded c3000 motor have sprayed the inards with something and silicon the covers on ? So these motors aren't as waterproof in stock form as cyclone makes them out to be ??

Re: Mid-Drive Selections for Quality!!!

Not having problems with Bafang due to low demand usage doesn't mean others won't. Most telling of all to confirm why Bafang is last on the list is the fact that right now there is a global shortage of Bafang bbs nylon gears!!!! (check for yourself online...) So if that doesn't scream bad quality no...

I was just reading on ES sphere The Luna version isn't cheap for what it includes compared to other kits, see below : Colt Jones: Ya but you guy are $1400 to $2000 luna is $700 something. And lunas already look better we'll have to see luna reliability. Like • Reply • 29 April at 22:10 Jim Kat Hi Co...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

It looks to be a knock off version of the AFT kit without any of the strengthening mods, at 48v 3000w it's asking for trouble !! The AFT has huge cooling fins, Wipperman 7r8 chain and ACS freewheels, hardened gears and oil in the gearbox. So it should handle that power better for longer vs the luna ...

Re: Cyclone 60 volt 3000 watt performs well

I have the same kit and share coolbreezz's views. The mounts do flex under the strong torque during takeoff. I have had them flex enough to pop the chain a few times ... Yeah the brackets seem weak that would explain why AFT upgraded them here : http://www.aft-ebike.com/c3000w.html But then again t...

Re: Mini Cyclone on carbon full suspension

This project was intended to be the ultimate full suspension CARBON e-mountain bike build Having built 15 ebikes over 5 years this ebike needed to be special and solve the ground clearance problems experienced with the Bafang Mid-Drives. The Tangent was tried, but that did not work out. When the Cy...

Re: Ultimate BBSHD Now on 88V bring it on the powerrrr!

The clutch is metal it shouldn't be a problem, I might make a metal gear to replace the nylon gear Why would you put a metal gear wear the plastic one is ? That's the whole reason this kit is quiet ?? Also like others have mentioned putting an external controller with higher voltage makes it a lot ...

Re: Getting the most from 200w - Geared hub vs Mid drive Aus

I think you just need to understand - usually cheaper mid drive kits require maintenance and/or fiddling about to get the most out of them over time. The more expensive kits, like Bafang or AFT, tend to be more durable. Bafang is also significantly easier to install and is very tidy given the contr...

Re: AFT mid drive build

Cant wait try the new AFT mods for it to see what happens at 20s and 70a. Wow! 20s and 70a? that's 80v 70amps is 5-6kw power??? I have never seen anyone run the cyclone 1680w motor at that voltage and power? That would be awesome to see if it works?, that's more peak power than an Astro 3210 and it...

Re: Cyclone 480W-1680W up to 60v @2100W without overheating

AFT kit have a lot of upgrade and cost more than double of a simple Cyclone kit! I think they made some optimization in addition to the large cooling fins and also the controller matters. The price of the AFT used to be a lot more but the AUD has dropped a like 40% vs USD last few years and i just ...

The LR kit is a prototype kit with prototype problems, if you look on the LR thread their is lots of people with small problems that need fixing, aligning brackets, grinding off or stripped bolts etc Whereas the AFT kit like the EGO and GNG v1 are complete, finished ready to bolt on with the control...

Bike 1 is a Trek remedy with an AFT kit which has not missed a beat Would it have been cheaper and easier then starting again going to the Big block since you already have a 48v AFT/cyclone kit to use the same 48v battery and cyclone type kit and double its power by using forced air cooling and gea...

Ahh ok the rotor magnet degauss that's why you made your own, do you think it degauss due to heat or due to magnet force of 80 amps ? 6 degrees is the standard spot on the cyclone hall sensor board, it has a hole for 0 + 6 and -6. So I think this is electrical degrees ? I think Bill turned this to a...
