Re: Throttle Wiring

First step, use the following guide to test that the throttle is connected correctly and outputs a valid signal:

I believe the RShunt value cannot be "calculated"
Of course it can. All you need is the published voltage drop at a given current:

50mV / 300A = 0.1666 mOhm

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

Ham, is that shunt value something you calculated or was it what the manufacturer supplied for the new shunt? I just purchased a new shunt for my next project and found that the RShunt value supplied is actually the same as the potted units supplied by Tangent (GrinTech) even though the current lev...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

Thank you, I think that makes sense to me, a little:) I still don't get why it is so much faster to accelerate with the old rshunt value...It takes a long time for me to understand something fully...so again, apologies. Essentially, the CA is fooled into supplying more power because it does not kno...

Re: Where to buy cheap Li-pol batteries instead of Multistar?

Hi everyone. I am new here, but I read a lot of topics here before. I have DIY e bike. I have been used Turnigy Li-po batteries, but they start to be weak. I am thinking about change. I would like to use 26650 5000 mAh instead Li-po. But, no Li-ion is so hard as lipo, as we know, and cut off voltag...

Greater power density. Have you seen the size of the Flatpack '2' (2000/3000W) & 'S' (1000/1800W) compared against each other?:

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

I am still confused why the power is greater (measured only by how damn quickly the thing accelerates) with the old incorrect shunt value and back to somewhat slower (old grin shunt levels) with the correct calculated value....perhaps my new shunt is not as stated (50mv and 300a)? The Cycle Analyst...

Re: higher or lower kv

Either way every time i play in the simulator the lower kv motor performs better at the expense of more heat Im giving the high kv motor more benefit by lower controller resistance and giving the high volt battery more resistance because it has more series groups, what else am i doing wrong? https:...

Re: higher or lower kv

a) use a high kv motor (12kV) and a high battery voltage (96V) to get the same top speed. You dont need a controller with high phase current (only 100 amps), but one that can work with high pack voltage (rated for 110V max) b) use a low kv motor (6 kV) and a normal battery voltage (48V for example)...

Re: higher or lower kv

Im way late to the kv discussion but Every time i look at high vs low kv in the simulator it ends up in a situation where the low kv makes more power but overheats faster, and the high kv makes less power but overheats slower That's why im not sure theres a one size fits all solution Assuming both ...

If he had, I imagine the asking price would be higher. Nothing stopping you from swapping out some components and selling what you don't want though.

Re: BLDC motor phase cable types

Hi. I am not sure if this was discussed before, but I cannot seem to find the type of the cables used in BLDC HUB motors. The ones in the picture. https://i.imgur.com/yrlRtnZ.png It is not typical copper cable. It is more durable and stiff. Usually they are 2 or 3sq mm. I have already found pre-mad...

EG is on the money. You could use an Arduino to handle the logic of triggering the mode change via the 3-speed switch interface.

Re: Shunts...are they "trimmable"?!

Even if you were to alter the central portion of the shunt, as long as you know the new resistance value (it's easy to test), you'll be alright.

Re: Shunts...are they "trimmable"?!

As long as you don't remove any material from between the two small shunt sensing screws, you should be okay. Any conductor material removed from elsewhere should be appropriate for the current requirements of your specific controller.

Wiring for the new throttle is as follows:

Red: 5v;
Black: Ground;
Green: Signal;
Yellow: Full battery voltage (feeds to LED voltmeter & keyswitch output);
Blue: Keyswitch (connects to controller keyswitch input).
