Re: Europe Netherlands 1st Build eBike idea with Bafang BBSHD or HUB Rear Help? :)

IMHO Rad bikes offer pretty good value for the money. At a discount, even better. Couple things to think about though... 1) that battery is not going to give your target range of 50km / 30m into even a mild headwind 2) 4" fatties generally best for low speed riding, not higher speeds 3) if you build...

"I suddenly saw my motor testing stand."

Nice! Trainer stand becomes test stand, with addition of simple torque arm. It's a great feeling when you discover that a solution to a problem is already available right there in your own house or shop... just maybe with a different label on it currently.

Nice bike! Looks like you flipped the stem around. Would make for a nice upright riding position. Did it change the handling much?

doughnut 4get 2pull UP on your shoe laces to lighten the load. every little bit helps. Where else but on E-S can you find such practical, down to earth advice and technical tips? Lightening load by pulling up on shoelaces is a good concept, but it really seems kind of dangerous to take your hands o...

Less than a dollar each delivered to your door, that is pretty amazing.
Seems like a genuine good deal.
And if they don't work out for some reason, what's that line about lottery tickets from old blues song?
Something like "...figured I wouldn't mind the losing, cause it only cost a buck."

Re: Got my butt kicked today

I'm happy you weren't chewed up any worse. Hope the healing is fast. Last time I rode e-bike without a helmet was 3 years ago. Forgot helmet, realized I didn't have it with me when I pulled bike out of back of truck at trail head... helmet was still home in the garage. Figured what the heck, it was ...

Re: Dogman Dans E bike burns his house.

Congratulations! Rebuilt and upgraded place sounds great. Heck of a path to get there but a good outcome. Surprising how few houses are geriatric ready. Even if I don't need it today, going to in another few years (with luck, always assuming I'm not pushing up daisies by then). Starting to look at r...

Re: saved money = earned money = bike parts...

Hear you, false economy costs more in the end. Just glad I could fix this vise for 50 cents to good as new condition and save $99.50 in the process. Plus the vise got a good cleaning in the process, now operates butter smooth. Will probably spend the savings on a pair of those new brake sensor switc...

saved money = earned money = bike parts...

Think it was Ben Franklin who said "a penny saved is a penny earned". When I was a kid I never understood what the heck he meant. Somewhere along the line I figured it out. So this week a 25 year old Record vise on my workbench crapped out suddenly. You could spin the handle all you wanted, but the ...

Re: Recall: SRAM Avid SD7 bicycle mechanical rim brake

Update. SRAM recalled "Avid Single Digit 7" brakes manufactured between June 1, 2014 and May 26, 2017. I returned three sets of the recalled brakes to SRAM for exchange under the recall program. They shipped me three replacement sets. I went to install the new brakes. The locator pin fell out of one...

Re: Bamboo / BBS02 / Nexus IGH

Update. Bike is going on 2 years old now. All good except I was having a problem with my original rinky-dink design for mounting kickstand, so I decided to add a new hard point for a better kickstand mount. In the process I pretty much tore the bike down so I could inspect how the frame was holding ...

Recall: SRAM Avid SD7 bicycle mechanical rim brake

FYI, in hopes this info helps others: Single Digit 7 brakes ("Avid SD7 bicycle mechanical rim brake") manufactured from June 2014 to May 2017 have been recalled. Date code is printed inside brake arm. If you have a set, you can return them to SRAM for exchange. Talked with an SRAM rep this morning b...

Have a BBS02 with Nexus IGH, very nice combo so far. Re the brakes. I like Shimano's roller brakes, have had good experiences with them on regular bikes at pedal bike speeds. But I find it almost impossible to really keep speed down to pedal bike level when riding electric, and I'm not completely co...

With such legal requirements, you might as well buy a couple of guinea pigs and trap them in the hub. Imagine that those who voted this stupid law, are burning gas in big SUV's and limousines. Crave the day when fuel will be rationed to 2 l a month. Well, nothing stopping adding front hub...
