Re: Mid drive vs hub for new build

H motors are light weight, but they are also very quick to overheat. Cool it down or build with a big hub, I prefer the second solution and think of it as a light weight motorcycle. Sub 80 Lbs build powered 20 Kw makes a beast, most will find it is too light for the power that it has. 2 weeks ago I...

Re: Mid drive vs hub for new build

Hub motor in the wheel is crap for any kind of aggressive off-roading. Funny, because never anyone had succeeded following me more than a few hundred feet in the mountain with a mid drive build, and very often broke their bike trying. A GNG fed 3.5 KW doesn't even come close, and is failing so ofte...

Re: Mid drive vs hub for new build

Is a hub the only way to go? I am running my gng on 3500w. I like to have 5000w. I am using my bike for offroad and freeriding in the city. Do you have videos of you putting 3.5kW mid drive to use? Also wondering what kind of things you can't do with that much mid drive power? What kind of rear whe...

Is this something? http://www.eped.nl/steponderdelen/stepmotor-1700watt.html Thats a brushed motor, I used one in my first electric build years ago , http://i1191.photobucket.com/albums/z469/Denisesewa/1363a-1.jpg If you look around you should be able to find that motor for about half that price. Mid drive vs hub for new build

Hi guys,

Question. I like to start a new build. I have a mid drive bike, but i like to have more power and less noise.
Is a hub the only way to go? I am running my gng on 3500w. I like to have 5000w.
I am using my bike for offroad and freeriding in the city.

Re: Banshee Chaparral with GNG gen 1.1

Is your pedals useful at 18S with the reduction you have now? Or is it just a foot rest? And why just the upper sheets from LS? With the uppersheets you can make adjustments in the chain drives. So you can tighten or loosen the tenstion. You don't need the idlers anymore. Yes pedaling at lower spee...

Replacement sprockets from 11 to 12 or 13 does not help?
Hi SolarRay,

Yes that is the first change i am going to make. I think a 12T will do the trick.
But also the motor screams out loud under 4kw load

Re: Banshee Chaparral with GNG gen 1.1

I have made a mockup and it is so tight, but it might work with 18s. What kind of speeds do you get with 18s? What amps are you using. Could you me what speeds you got with 12s 50 A? Cheers Alex I get 70kmh with 18s. I run it on 50a and sometimes on 60a. I have a lyen 12fet. With a 9fet i think 40a...

Re: Banshee Chaparral with GNG gen 1.1

I might be able to squeece 3 zippy flightmax 6s 5000mah. in the triangle, 6 if I put 2 beside each other. that is 10 cm. Since yours is 12cm wide, dont you think it is too wide? Nice frame! Diffrence is that i have a xl and yours is a m. I think that you can fit 18s2p in your frame. Make a mould of...

Re: Banshee Chaparral with GNG gen 1.1

Looking at my Banchee frame, and it seems I have a larger shock absorber that fills the frame more than yours. Don´t think I can fit batteries in the triangle at all. Looks like I have to use a backpack. Thank you for the explanation of your build. Back to the old drawing board... Can you post a pi...

Re: GNG, 1000W 48V BB-drive, $400

Folks, thank you all for inspiring me to put together my first build. I chose the kit, which afaik is the same as the GNG, from Albert Wong @ middriveebike.com since he was very helpful with email support. Even at 48V @ 18A, It really hauls and gets me up the steepest hills here in San Francisco. T...

Do you have step by step photos of how you made this? Wouldn´t mind to copy you on this. My build is at a stand still as I´m not sure if I want chain or LR´s belt drive. But I can still start to make a battery box... In the mean time my hub bike will have to do... Hi Arcticfly, No i have no picture...

I have a problem with the trottle that came with the GNG. The reaction of the trottle is to nervous. Anybody a good advise for a replacement? The stock throttle that comes with the kit is known to have a lot of dead space in it. So you twist, nothing happens, keep twisting and all of a sudden power...
