Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

I'll try to post a couple of photos here...here goes.... All I have done so far is mount the motor. I am taking my time as opposed to my usual "work straight thru until completed" approach. I have worked and reworked the chain lines and belt and chain tensions until I think I have them set up as we...

Re: Upgrade the new GNG 650w (chain/sprockets)

There is hope finally for the 60v gng owners. As most of you know, the biggest difference between GNG's 48v and 60v versions of this kit, is the primary reduction upgraded to a chain instead of the belt. And the chain upgrade is an improvement over the belt version of the 48v, but it remains problem...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

Interesting problems... I have my kit in now and have been installing it some yesterday. There are multiple issues one has to figure out since this is a prototype kit without instructions and you need to be pretty smart and experienced to get the job done. I love the challenge and while I have work...

Re: Upgrade the new GNG 650w (chain/sprockets)

Hi guys Are you guys using 1/2x1/8 or 1/2x3/32 chain for the secondary 13T stock sprocket to largest chainring?? I tried a kmc 1/2x3/32 to perhaps get a tighter and quieter fit but every second link on the kmc chain is narrower than the next link....so the chain sometimes doesnt fully seat on the 1...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

I need someone's knowledge about a way to use the lightening rod kit with my 1997 GT LTS-1 I have a 34mm internal threaded bottom bracket and it uses the Shimano un72 and shimano square tapered spindles. How will I be able to use Mike's kit on this bike... Oh and the bottom bracket is 73mm wide. Th...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

I would just like to report that Mike was very quick in replying to my email about a replacement motor. He sent one out the next day express mail and I received it this past Wednesday. I am happy to report that it is much quieter and smoother than my first motor. The only issue that I am working th...

Good to know he's not unwell anyway. Is it suitable to post queries or information about a pending order here if it hasn't been dealt with via PM already? I hope so cos I'm going to. My order is close to being (if not already) in production. Mike's last pm to me to confirm the standard brackets wil...

Re: GNG, 1000W 48V BB-drive, $400

Is there a particular controller(s) that work exceptionally well with the gng motor besides the stock controller??? I'm wondering about this also as I don't get the same acceleration on my LR kit using a EM3EV controller than I used to on my Mac motor with the same wattage drawn. I thought the GNG ...

Is there a particular controller(s) that work exceptionally well with the gng motor besides the stock controller??? Particularly well? As long as they are 60 degree hal sensor controllers, they should work all the same. What will change the feel is the throttle you use and the amps a given controll...

Ok, managed to get the new pulley installed and applied JB Weld as directed. Installed the upper and lower sheets on my motor, but not yet on the bike. I installed belt and gave it a test spin (by hand) just to see if everything was smooth. But then a new problem appeared! The GT pulley's flange po...

Thank you Wishes I really appreciate your help. 0.53, 0.64, 0.75, 0.85, 1, 1.22, 1.42 and 1.62 So...if you have a 52T driving a 13T (or 48T/12T), and the Alfine is in 5th gear, that would be 4:1 The lowest four gears are under-drive, 5th gear is direct drive, and the top three are "overdrive". Re: Upgrade the new GNG 650w (chain/sprockets)

Stock chainring? Yes. Stock jack shaft freewheel? Yes. Does not work with a rear cassette. --- This all applies for any 1/2 x 1/8" full or half link. Ok thx Would a 1664 half link chain be any quieter or would there be no difference in noise levels? By using a half link on the secondary chain, you ...

Thanks for answer, but the half link is needed for the #25 chain or for the secondary chain? maybe for the two? And do you think it's better KMC kool chain or shadow conspiracy interlock chain ? The KMC is cheap so I could upgrade the secondary chain with it I think. Thanks ! The KMC will do fine. ...

Hi all, I am building a new ebike with a GNG 650w on a kona coiler, will be used with 18s 10ah and a lyen 12fet. I received the GNG yesterday, and I saw the primary chain make a lot of noise (because of the big chain and small 11T sprocket I found on the forum) So I think the best is to change for ...
