Re: Disc brake adapter?

48mm pattern rotors are specific to trash-quality disc brakes. You might as well use rim brakes, even calipers, if that's your disc option. The other alternative is to use a trash-quality rotor with a decent disc caliper (and have to straighten the rotor often because it warps). that is kindof what...

Re: Disc brake adapter?

cant tell what you are working with but the thread appears to be the same standard freewheel spinon thread rergadless, 34.9xmm or 1 inch I saw in some descriptions, some fine thread of an odd dimension either way not sure who came up with it, but it seems to be the same, the 6bolt pattern is what ap...

Re: 19" Motorcycle Wheels vs 26" Bicycle Wheels (rim and tir

and that was my point, I like it too but this is what you are going to get into, and than you want larger disks and than you might as well build something simmilar up front, initially I just wanted a 29er and I did not want to wait for a 700c wheel from china, figured I'd lace one myself, than figur...

Re: 19" Motorcycle Wheels vs 26" Bicycle Wheels (rim and tir

Hey blue, don't despair the fat tire look is the new black. People will think its cool. It's what I was going for when I built my first e-bike. Meet the electric Jeepster: image.jpg This bike has a tiny clyte 408 but is still great fun and does just fine. I have gone the opposite direction of most ...

Re: 19" Motorcycle Wheels vs 26" Bicycle Wheels (rim and tir

I saw those ones, not extremely excited about the patern, and 2.75 inches may still need a little tweaking on a regular frame, the one I am working with was about that stock, no clearence at all unless you shave the tire some, I think my mtb tire is 1.95 I know some are over 2 inch, 2.75 does not so...

Re: 19" Motorcycle Wheels vs 26" Bicycle Wheels (rim and tir

I'm no expert by any means in bycycle parts and mosty of my stuff is cheapos, because I end up cutting them up anyhow and I would feel bad if I paid stupid money for it, and even the higher end stuff I am still not supper excited about I still want to do something different the jockey wheel closest ...

Re: 19" Motorcycle Wheels vs 26" Bicycle Wheels (rim and tir

that's what I figured so far, I am not much of a cyclist but on my regular bike I hardly ever use 4 gears, granted most of the time I am just pacing along with the kid, for that 2 will do, so I figured just keep the largest crank a 12 tooth and the next one over and a creeper, in case of a breakdown...

you know I should have settled in the mountains, victim of circumstances I guess, as it is I am having a hard time getting 20 miles out of town for more than a couple hours, I would rather do something in the up, but that will never happen, and to leave everything behind and start over sounds like t...

Re: Disc brake adapter?

They are BOTH standards. Like inches and mm, left hand drive cars and right hand drive cars, Front, Rear or mid drive electric bikes, petrol or diesel cars, ............ ^This! But if you are asking what is the most common 6 bolt size, it's 44mm. That's the IS for a 6 bolt disc, shimano style. henc...

Re: 19" Motorcycle Wheels vs 26" Bicycle Wheels (rim and tir

yeah I forgot to mention that, the 2 largest sprockets are out of commission, I was thinking of making it 3-4 speed, that is all I really use on my 24 speed mtb anyway and with the hub motor, I am thinking of saving the highest gears, maybe I can keep up, or maybe get one of those freewheels with a ...

that thread explains how he tested the controller to work up to 56v, I believe he upgraded the pack to a 48v lifepo4 57v HOC, doesn't get much simpler upgrade for faster speed

Re: Disc brake adapter?

I am still confused which one is the IS standard, the 44 or the 48, the Chinese ebike kits are 48mm bolt pattern, so are the wallmart cheap spin on hubs, and yes I did the 48h bmx into a 29er rim rear hub for front disk, if I remember correctly I had to remove the back nuts to go from 135mm to 100 b...

Re: Disc brake adapter?

WP_20140504_014.jpg I have several spin on adaptors, some ordered especially for the ebike hub, some from cheap stamped steel front wheels, some from BMX they all spin on the hub but the 6bolt pattern is 48mm, that would be great if I were happy with 160mm rotors, I have a few that would fit, I'd a...

so for the sake of simplicity I took a stab at the hardtail just for gigs, cheap wallmart bike bought it especially to cut it up for an experiment. the wheel ended up to be 3.5 inches + in width, so no bike frame is that wide maybe a fat one WP_20140504_003.jpg WP_20140504_004.jpg WP_20140504_005.jp...

Re: Disc brake adapter?

I'll post some pics here shortly of the Chinese kits I got, like I said if I were happy with 160mm rotors they would be fine, the 203s were 44mm, than afain if you already got all the other stuff on the bike already you might not need all that. the other Idea I had about spacing them was to simply b...

Re: Disc brake adapter?

theres a couple different kinds of 6bolt patterns, I am no expert but I found this out the hard way. the 44mm is comon on most 1 piece hubs, usually higher end, I have confirmed this on a couple of my bikes and some hubs I have been eye balling. the other one is the spin on which I have several of t...

ahhh fudge I am itching, I havent found some time to mess with mine a bit and I have yet to fit it on the frame, but I can tell you this much, I only have a 1000w hub and to throw it on a plain MTB is a bit scary, at figure maybe 30mph a decent pothole will turn those rims into figure 8s, a smaller ...
