PHEV battery pack for DIY storage?

Hello my friends, looking for some advice on a DIY energy storage project up to 20kWh (as close to) I've been looking to build an energy storage project for years, now I have some time. I have built ebike battery packs, and am working on 800V packs for work, so I have some idea how to keep myself al...

A battery charger turns off after charging is finished.

Just buy two 36V LED sources like meanwell elg or hlg nd put them in series.
Thanks dominik, that looks like a great shout. When they say 36V, I suppose they actually mean 36V, not some weird range like for li-ion cell packs, right?

70V-ish PSU advice

Hi all, I'm looking for a AC mains to DC power supply of about 70V (min 66V) to power a 360W FRNSI DC6006L adjustable PSU. I'm not sure what is the maximum it can take, need to open it up, but spec says 70V. I have to assume it has 80V caps, but I'll check. After googling, ebay and alibaba, looking ...

Re: New battery pack - sourcing question in the UK

Hi Magsy, thanks for the idea, glad to know nothing really changed from us user's point of view.

About the bustoms bit, a friend of mine has a resonable big order from bmsbattery stuck in costoms for several weeks already. Not great TBH

New battery pack - sourcing question in the UK

Hi all, I have a somewhat obscure question. Turns out due to Bxit, starting in 2021 when buying stuff from the continent, we need to pay VAT. I have purchased previously battery cells only from nkon.nl, and had very good experience with good quality cells, reasonably fast shipping and very good pric...

Re: Sensorless Q128 cutting on high grade low speed - S09S

Hi amberwolf, thanks for the reply. Here's my late feedback. Turns out the S09S doesn't work below around 23V without mods. I have checked with a PSU, trimming down the voltage until I got a cut. Exactly why it cuts, I'm not sure yet. Could be software limits, or as you say, could be hardware. There...

Re: Sensorless Q128 cutting on high grade low speed - S09S

Thanks amberwolf, makes sense. The controller is meant for 36/48V.

Any way I could modify the LVC in the BMS Battery S09S controller? I have a lot of experience with Infineon-s and XPD, but not with this.

Sensorless Q128 cutting on high grade low speed - S09S

Hi all, as the title says, I have a bit of an issue with my new setup. It's my first time using the S09S sensorless controller. Motor is a Q128 36V and 201RPM winding on a (for now) 24V battery. Top speed is a bit low as you would imagine, but the battery is capable of 7-800W in a pinch. I also have...

Strange ebike shutdown

Hi all, I was wondering what your thoughts are about this fault. The ebike electrics have ran since 2014 just fine, with no issues outside of dodgy connectors that had to be swapped along the way. Some data: *Battery 14S5P Samsung 22F 2.2Ah cells (state of the art in 2013  ) *Infineon inverte...

Slim handlebar throttle advice

Hi all, I'm looking to de-clutter my handlebars. For a few years I used a half twist throttle, but I replaced it with a thumb throttle which was slimmer. Having used it for 2 years now, I find the thumb throttle quite tiring on my thumb and wrist on a 1+ hour ride (tried two brands, same result). I'...

Re: Wiring harness ideas

They look pretty good, I may try them. I am running direct soldered cables for now and TBH with the freezing temperatures I'm not adding many miles to the bike I almost laced the Q128C in a new rim with some nice Sapim spokes. After this wheel is true and tested I'll look into the cabling again. It ...

Re: Wiring harness ideas

Awesome. Two more days of thinking it over and I have decided to: *give up on the idea of upgrading the frame. Turns out I'd need to spend quite a bit to get a meaningful upgrade *buy a handlebar extension to fit the headlight and water bottle on the front. This would make space for other bits on th...

Re: Wiring harness ideas

Hi amberwolf, thanks for the advice. I did a bit of googling to unpack :thumb: My old DC battery connectors were PP75, the battery to charger still has the same. I didn't know the name of them, so thanks for that. The HIGO I found that ship to the UK are a bit pricey. It may be that they are the one...

Wiring harness ideas

Hi all, I'd very much appreciate some direction. Here's the problem: my ebike, based on an em3ev kit with infineon 9-fet and 9C motor, has just turned 5. It's been 4 good years in which I commuted and ridden for thousands of miles. This year, it has been a bit dodgy and I'm taking advantage of the w...

BMSbattery S06S wiring help and S-LCD5 setup

Hello team, I need a hand. It looks like I'm so close to having this setup working, but not quite. I have - Q100H, S06S, S-LCD5, a throttle and a PAS sensor powered by a 24V battery. What works - everything except the PAS assistance. I tried following the wiring diagram linked on the website, but th...

Re: Low voltage cutoff on BMSbattery controllers

Thanks for the feedback. If I'm honest I haven't seen the LVC on the picture, I was kinda ignoring the pic and relying just on the specs....which are very sparse.

If I get brave maybe I get on the FOC open source firmware, there I can adjust things

Re: Low voltage cutoff on BMSbattery controllers

I get your point, but to understand where I come from I should have said I've tested my EM3EV Infineon 4110 controller that shouldn't be compatible with a 24V battery with exactly this. If you dial-in the correct cut-off VDCmin it works fine.

Re: Low voltage cutoff on BMSbattery controllers

ok wturber, so it auto-configures based on the battery voltage it sees. I wonder if the 36/48V one can also recognize a 24V pack, but this would be bonus.

I'm thinking of the same sort of purchase, but I haven't found a good alternative. Other on the forums have pointed out that buying more motors tends not to raise shipping costs a lot. I tried and the second motor adds 50% shipping cost 5roughly°, while the third doesn't add any shipping cost. The q...

Re: How to isolate (posibly shorted) stator lams?

I have seen many motors and there's one thing that is sure - lams aren't perfectly insulated - ever. Even if they're not yet mounted on a shaft or in a case, put a multimeter on the edges to measure resistance from left to right and you'll find a high, but not infinite resistance. The reason why we ...

Controller with torque control capability - need some advice

Hi all, I'm looking for a new controller. I have used for years em3ev's 9-FET Infineon 4110, but I haven't really searched for a controller since 2012, maybe you can help me. There are a few features that I like on the Infineon 4110 as it's not just a dumb DC-AC converter. Here's a very short "...

Re: Speedict Ebike - Anybody seen/tried this?

I was seriously thinking of a Neptune 15 for my new pack, mostly for the adjustable BMS functions.

What are the issues you've seen? Normally I research a lot before I go for a product, but it's hard to find real user testimonials about the Neptune 15
