Re: Leaving charger connected but switched off?

It depends on the charger. If it has a relay then it will probably be fine.

Re: Battery issue and questions

I believe Karl posted something a while back about using the battery charging wires to run other DC things like lights. I think he was referencing Anderson connectors or something similar. I wonder if I could do the same thing with a barrel connector providing I maintain the correct polarity? If I ...

150V 20A 300W CC/CV Electronic Load

I recently bought this Sousim LG300WA electronic load from sincerepartner on eBay. They also have a 150W model , and higher current versions (30A/40A) of the 300W model . They probably also have higher current 150W models. The listings seem to come in and out of stock. Search their store for "electr...

Re: Changing LVC with KT-LCD1?

As far as I know all 48V versions automatically switch between a 36V or 48V LVC. If the controller has the original sticker on it (i.e. not from bmsbattery) it should have 36/48 in the model name. See this post for the resistor to change (at least if your controller has the same board) https://endle...

Re: Changing LVC with KT-LCD1?

You can change the LVC with the C12 parameter but only by a small amount. You can also modify the LVC resistor in the controller itself.

Re: Single Gear Stealth Build - Battery in Frame Tubes

That controller is sensorless and it might have trouble with these motors, especially with their high eRPM. The main voltage limiting component (other than fets and caps) will be the LM317 which could be replaced with a TL783 (pin compatible, may or may not be a drop in replacement).

BShady wrote:what power supply supply would you use for a 12s li-ion BMS?
For most lithium chemistries except for LiFePo4 the charging voltage would be 4.2V/cell = 50.4V. You can buy chargers of eBay/AliExpress.

Re: How does a BMS work

All the BMS does is balance the cells, protect against too high/low cell voltages and too high charge/discharge current. The balancing circuits cut off the charging current and bleed down any cells which are too high when the battery is being charged. This is called top balancing. It doesn't balance...

Re: Sturmey-Archer 5-speed hub, it's real!

I would love to swap my Boris the Brut Sprung rear cassette and hub for a 5 spd IGH in 197mm. Belt drive would be the proverbial icing on the cake. Your bike couldn't support any kind of internal gear hub, no matter the width, because it uses through axles. And of course in order to use a belt driv...

Over-discharged prismatic cells

I have been running a small class D amp off 4S CALB-CA40 prismatic cells for a couple of months. I forgot that the cells were only charged to storage voltage and today they finally ran out and puffed up. The voltages ranged from 1V to 1.7V, but after sitting for a few hours they have settled to 1.5V...

I've seen some recommendations for Alligator rotors. Note that some models are very light and may not be good for long descents. I'm not sure how their brake track compares to the G2. Re: Fixed voltage charging question.

Yes, but the BMS may not balance the cells as it might be set to balance at a higher cell voltage. You can charge it to 100% occasionally and leave the battery connected to the charger for a long time to balance it.

Leaving the jumpers in place with the LCD plugged in will prevent the LCD sending information to the controller and also stop the LCD cutting the power from the controller.

Re: DIY Arduino timed spot-welder, FET-switched, adj. pulse

I think the biggest market for these will be in countries where battery packs can't easily be shipped and there are no local vendors selling at a reasonable price. The cells are a lot easier and safer to ship then a whole battery pack.

I did have it running with both the diodes. Although I'm sure they were working as they should I just wasn't able to test both together on the oscilloscope. My new diodes are arriving tomorrow so I'll run some more tests soon.
