Re: Cute Q100 lightweight builds slow mtb, fast road

Thanks all. I have it working with a hall sensor controller (I think from DIYmoped.com) which is a 48v, 250w controller (I need a small size and don't care about the power). I get a little groan from the motor if a heavy throttle is applied at a slow speed but then it does fine once you're going. It...

Re: Cute Q100 lightweight builds slow mtb, fast road

It must be spring as I'm working on a new build... and I can't seem to get all of the pieces working. Sigh... I have a Q100C CST and I am trying to use an existing, small 48v battery. I had a spare 48v controller from BMS Battery, the S09P-BL. See below: https://bmsbattery.com/controller/849-s09p-bl...

Re: Cute Q100 lightweight builds slow mtb, fast road

Is there an advantage to the Grin Technologies LiGo block(s) (assuming 3 to give you 294 Ah) compare to the Luna 52v Mighty Mini Cube? Note- I realize that the LiGo blocks can be transported by plane and the Luna battery is 52v vs. 36v for LiGo (and that the Luna @52v will have a higher rpm in any g...

Re: Cute Q100 lightweight builds slow mtb, fast road

ScooterMan101, Sounds like bicycle heaven! I'm convinced that there is a market and need for a relatively light road bike with assist from a light weight motor for many. ( I wish my legs could push what they could 20 years ago!). With a little electric assist, you can push past weaker knees or (lite...

Re: Cute Q100 lightweight builds slow mtb, fast road

That's right about the different power at different PAS level. It's because KT controllers use current controll for the PAS rather than the speed control on most other controllers. It makes no difference whether you have sine-wave or square wave. The Chinese call them "Torque simulation" controller...

Re: Cute Q100 lightweight builds slow mtb, fast road

Jumping in here... but d8veh, Motomech and others have much more experience with this than I do. I've added a Q100CST on my road bike. I used a small 14S 52v (nominally) mini-cube from Luna Cycle. My setup is PAS only and I've been through a variety of controllers to get things just right. In my set...

Re: Cute Q100 lightweight builds slow mtb, fast road

ScooterMan101, Thanks. And a great suggestion. I ordered the S-LCD 3 display to replace my existing LCD display. It's great to be able to monitor the motor temps and watts. I took the bike out today and it performed flawlessly wit the larger controller but I was careful to keep the assist level low....

Re: Cute Q100 lightweight builds slow mtb, fast road

When I reread your posts, one of the things I was trying to determine was whether or not you had ordered a BMS B. display to go w/ the BMS B. controller. I came away thinking you did, but now, I'm not so sure. Dave (D8veh), has stated that the BMS B. sine wave controllers must be used w/ BMS B. dis...

Re: Cute Q100 lightweight builds slow mtb, fast road

motomech- Yep, you pointed out the voltage issue almost as soon as I reported it! And I have *too* many spare parts and a couple of old steel bikes in my shed... but I only seem to be able to ride one bike at a time. ;) chas58- I remember you mentioning that EM3ev built the 36v battery, is this corr...

Re: Cute Q100 lightweight builds slow mtb, fast road

Following up on my issue regarding the Q100 cutting out after 5 - 10 minutes using a Luna 52v mini battery. More to come as I have an elifebike controller and a 6 FET BMSBattery controller on the way. I've isolated the issue to the Greenbikekit.com controller and my Luna 52v battery. I've swapped ou...

Re: Cute Q100 lightweight builds slow mtb, fast road

Anyone know if the 72 volt S LCD 3 Display from BMS.B would work with the 6 fet IFRB 4110 controller from EM3ev ? it can handle up to 72 volts . ... http://em3ev.com/product/6-fet-irfb4110-infineon-sensorless-controller/ and since it is an Infinion/what people call an Infinion Controller , the amps...

Re: Cute Q100 lightweight builds slow mtb, fast road

Okay, not ignoring anyone but definitely didn't think everything through. I'll try and cancel the BMS Battery order and replace it with a smaller one. Still can't figure out why the CON63 seems to be failing but I'll swap out the battery this weekend with one that is known to work with the controlle...

Re: Cute Q100 lightweight builds slow mtb, fast road

I gather you took the 2nd CON63 off another bike? What happens if you run the Mini on that one? It seems like you're overstressing a component on the 36V CON63 with the higher voltage (58V) of the Mini. I had an extra CON63. I have another bike with a similar setup to this one (where I did not see ...

Re: Cute Q100 lightweight builds slow mtb, fast road

Thanks, guys. I have tried it with a throttle and I have the same problem with the motor cutting out. I had this setup working on another bike with the same controller and battery - no issues. But the controller on this bike was wired a little differently so it was most likely a different batch with...

Re: Cute Q100 lightweight builds slow mtb, fast road

Posting here it seems to be the default Q100 thread. :). I'm having issues with my build where the motor cuts out after about 10 minutes (depending on outside air temps- colder longer and warmer shorter). My recent build was on a road bike where I wanted a clean look and only PAS (I peddle consisten...

Re: Best Pedal Assist Setup

Chas58, Thanks! I know what you mean regarding converting a bike. I really deliberated over converting my Homer but in the end decided that it wasn't that much work or cost if I wanted to change it back to a traditional bike in the future. Hard decisions but I didn't want to shell out the cash to up...

Re: Best Pedal Assist Setup

Also, the battery and controller are in the rear bag, sold by rivbikes.com. I had the bag modified by my local shoe repair shop to add a front hole with leather reinforcement for the standard ebike wires. The bike is a rivbike H. Homer Hilsen circa 2010. Classic old school steel, nice lugs with 38 m...

Re: Best Pedal Assist Setup

The PAS sensor on your fat bike is the same one that I have for my road bike. I've confirmed that it works by manually moving the magnets over the sensor. I tried the non-drive side for the sensor but it's very, very tight. If I can fit the sensor onto the drive side by removing the third ring, I th...

Best Pedal Assist Setup

Long time member here... I'm trying to re-solve my PAS options. What I'm looking for is the best peddle-assistance solution for a road bike. My goal has been to create a peddle-assist road bike using a Q100CST (cassette version) that would give me a boast while, at the same time, pedaling as I am a ...
