Re: JP spot welder

Welders still available, ready to ship right away! :thumb: I'm ready to buy a spot welder, I just need a little bit of convincing why this is a better option than a sunkko 709a? which would set me back around UK£150 (I'm based in the UK) also whether it's similar/higher/lower spec than the other on...

Re: DIY spot-welder, FET-switched, processor-timed adj. pulse

Both options should work fine, but bolting fets down is much more convenient, for installation and also for potential repairs. Also it's a lot less messy, and you're not stressing the fets with soldering.

Re: JP spot welder

hello riba. is it possible to modify the welder to handle around 2 times the current for welding copper? perhaps using larger or more fets? Hi, I have never tried myself, but I guess it could be possible. Maybe stack two welders, and use one as a master providing the gate signal for slave FETs? BTW...

Hi everyone! I'm excited to tell you that I have the welders ready to order and ship again. However, I'm less excited to tell you that this batch which includes 15 assembled and 2 DIY kits will be the last one. It was a pleasure to have had you as a welder maker. Always kind and direct. I recently ...

Re: JP spot welder

My JP is certainly proving to be a worthwhile investment... this ~3.2Kwhr (252 cell) pack is already sold, and I have several more smaller packs planned for my new LMX once it arrives. :) Cheers Thanks, I 'm really glad to hear that! :) I have 3 welders. I bought the JP first. I was enticed by all ...

Re: JP spot welder

48v is too much. 12v is about the maximum. Consider that on mine, I measured about 3,000A during the pulse at 12v. There has been some success using gigantic capacitors and a 12v supply. The average power is not that much so the caps can get recharged with a reasonably small 12v supply. Fletcher, H...

Re: JP spot welder

Right now I'm using two 6v 180Ah PB batteries in parallel, and I get perfect welds. But I'm moving my bench, and don't want to use those big batteries there. I think I'm going to see some capacitors? Any advise? Think about use 5v power supply. I personally don't have experience with capacitors, I ...

Re: JP spot welder

I was thinking about use some server Power supply in parallel. Do you think they can handle? If not, what about use 48v as a DC source? I can get a lot of power supplys for free they are 48v 50A, 2400w... I can parallel them, bit not sure if 48v is too much. Whoa whoa whoa  pe_bkijv6f0 12V...

Re: JP spot welder

1. You can use standard 12V ac/dc adapter with 5.5/2.1 mm barrel connector (most common one), 500 mA is fine, maybe even less, but I haven' tried. It's polarity will be marked, it's standard negative outer, and inner pin is positive. There is a diode on the input so nothing will happen if you accid...
