The MXUS 3kw is built better than a QS 205 though, but the heavier QS 205 can shed more heat, thus can be fed more power.
can you add more details about why you like the mxus build please, im curious :D

i only have an old pressed steel stator v2mxus, im not that impressed by it..

Re: Samsung 30Q - high drain 18650 Li-ion cell's capacity test

well, when this cell first out on the market, i did a fair bit of research, and these details somehow weren't very easy to discover :| it was really marketed as a higher drain capable cell and many people said, with good chemistry for cycle life. i agree 15A is a lot for a cell to produce, but it sho...

Re: Samsung 30Q - high drain 18650 Li-ion cell's capacity test

At 15A discharge the manufacturer guarantees 60% of the initial capacity at 250th cycle so nobody promised some great cycle life at max discharge rate. the max claimed peak power for this cell is like 20A or 25A something(sorry cant remember exactly) so 60% initial capacity at 250 cyles at only 15 ...

Re: Samsung 30Q - high drain 18650 Li-ion cell's capacity test

I have built 4 large packs with these. they are ok if you have plenty in parallel. after all the initial discussion about them being good chemistry, like the 20R and 25R cells, I was not very happty to see that they can lose capacity very fast compared to other cells, and my not be that good with re...

Re: Spot Welding Copper Strips to 18650 Battery Cells

holy crap! they look like the perfect thing. rebuilding your welder may not be so hard. im at that point now, modifying a riba welder https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=100435 basically use the low current timing circut to provide the 12v pulse for the fets and build a larger swi...

Re: Spot Welding Copper Strips to 18650 Battery Cells

All my welder does is shorts a 800CCA car battery for the amount of milliseconds it is set to. No control over the pulse current lol. Even though it has some issues, I think this is a good solution vs buying that $10,000 welder at the start of this thread. yes you do have control of the current! ju...

Re: Spot Welding Copper Strips to 18650 Battery Cells

sounds like your max pulse current isnt high enough. if it takes 40ms to make the weld, i think thats too long and will probably dump too much heat into the weld. your looking for a massive burst of amps in like 7ms or something. i think you would need ballpark 2000A to attempt copper welding, with ...

Re: Spot Welding Copper Strips to 18650 Battery Cells

Nickel has a much high melting point then copper. So the molten nickel probably just punches threw it and cools when it hits the nickel battery tap. Effectively bolting the copper in place. close i think. i think its working because the high resistance of the nickel is creating heat on the copper. ...

Re: New HIGO and JULET connectors

good point. i never had a water issue on my bikes, riding in rain, whatever. i use dc barrel pugs for 12v lights i must admit, i use only adaptto controllers and they have stock waterproof connectors, and i rout all electrics on the bars into a waterproof junction box. one thing i did think of thoug...

Re: mega copper battery spotwelder

my feeling is above 0.15mm, you might be right. the dynamics of copper welding are very different from nickel welding. because copper conducts so well it pulls any excess heat away very fast.(also one reason its tricky to weld) the danger is if you have not got the surfaces super clean or you hit th...

Re: New HIGO and JULET connectors

they are a nice connector, but with ebikes the electrical system is usually low voltage for small contacts like that, and being watertight isnt really much of an issue.

a standard 20c 12v barrel plug would do the same job pretty much.

thanks for all the comments folks! im passionate about this. i have used a modified dn10 ac coil spotwelder(mod was just to make a diy timing board to get better pulse control) it does a great job on 0.1mm copper except for one thing- we could never completely eliminate the tendency to get a double ...
