Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

A friction held bike stem on a heavy machine like this is a terrible idea. Only direct mount should be used. If you need rise, get a higher rise bar, not a long gooseneck stem like a $100 bike. I find the friction stems have held up 100% of the time on my Sur-Ron. I don't even tighten down on it th...

Why are they saying "Carbon fiber like hemp monocoque frame" are they not going to use the standard sur ron aluminum frame?

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I upgraded the brakes on my Sur-Ron to Saint brakes. What surprised me was I drove a short distance and locked up the rear brakes a couple of times to swing the rear around. When I parked the bike I noticed a smell from the rear of the bike. I then noticed the rotor and the caliper were burning hot....

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I bought another deity handlebar. The Sur-Ron handlebar sweep angle was not good and always felt bad. It held my wrists in a bad angle. Could never get used to it. The Sur-Ron bar is more straight while the Deity bends more towards you. You won't know the Sur-Ron bar sucks unless you use a proper ba...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

6WMip0ZczeA This is from the same guy of the video just above. I also recommended the shinko 241 for the rear. I'm not sure what size he is running. Can anyone tell what tire size he is running? I wonder if its a 19". While the 19" is nice, I bet that is what he is running, it is very hard compound...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Why are you taking it apart, routine maintenace or damage?

Its hard to find any good information on taking apart forks, at least that is what I found. I believe most people never bother to open them up and just buy new.

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

SInce the Sur-Ron rear tire only lasts 500 miles, what are you guys replacing it with? I don't see many posts about what everyone is using as a rear replacement tire, even though I'm sure most have put 500 miles on their sur-ron so they had to have replaced it. My front Sur-Ron tire is still very ne...

Re: Qulbix Q76R Frame Kits & Complete Bikes PRE-ORDER

The only way I was able to deal with chain slap and got rid of it was using the Shimano zee rear derailleur. This has a clutch system and works great. It eliminated almost all slap and the chain was completely silent. If you don't use a clutch system it will slap around. The other issue is using a 1...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

You can get this new headset, assuming that is what you are referring to. They have all the right sized parts for a 1 1/8 straight steerer. If your DVO emerald is tapered then you will have to get something different. https://lunacycle.com/cane-creek-forty-sur-ron-headset-bearing/ Yep, thanks the e...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Ride it? Yeah best would be to ride it. Funny question because I wanted to discharge my other ebike and didn't want to ride it so I turned on the LED front light. I left it on for hours, and it got pretty hot the light, starting voltage 69 and when I went to check it 6 hours later the voltage was s...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Would anyone know, if you unplug your charger during a charge.

Is it better to unplug the AC plug first or DC connector first?

I assume one will spark less?

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I would only build something if I was improving on the design, so that is different. This is why I upgraded the brakes, throttle, and fork on my Sur-Ron and will get a new controller. This is really just changing already built parts. I mean building something like a frame or modifying a frame, build...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

The way I feel is I don't want to build something that can be purchased. If you think about it, the reason humans have such wealth is we mass produce things at extreme efficiency. For example if you had to build your own car from scratch, you would spend probably 10-20 years building it. You could a...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I don't see why anyone would convert a 250 KTM when they can get that. Because people can find a steal of a deal on used bikes - particularly if it needs a new engine. If one manages to get a bike for a steal - then converting it to electric can cost perhaps half of what a KTM Freeride costs. Used ...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Can't say I completely agree. There are plenty of folks converting bad ass 250's etc., to electric, often with 30KW of power. Since all they are doing is dropping in a motor, controller and battery - the build can be better than the original bike. And I have to say KTM doesn't exactly make junk. :w...

Hey Guys, ill get a DVO Emerald 26“ at a really low price, is it compatible with the LBX 2019? Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Nice, the bike is unbreakable, except for the bash guard. The deal is the Sur-Ron takes all that fun we had building our past ebikes away, but I don't miss that anymore. There is absolutely no reason anymore to build ebikes for the most part, you will never match the quality of the Sur-Ron. Of cours...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

They have a new version of the Sur-Ron coming out? Hopefully they get rid of the 26" fork and build it around a 27.5"fork. Maybe design the swingarm to fit a belt drive without cutting anything. Other than that it will be interesting what they update from the old Sur-Ron. I personally have no issues...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

This is why I don't worry about police in NYC. Imagine one of them asking me to stop to confiscate my bike and rape me with tickets. That's amazing. In LA, the cops would be shooting. The camera works very well, even on the bumpy stairs. I suppose there's a chance the video could be used against you if you were at fault. Does it have an instant delete everything button? Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Installed a front dash cam (action cam with dash cam function) on my bike. Need to figure out how to install a rear one. Used the Git Up G3. I plugged the camera into the USB port in the front, this way it turns on and records every time I'm riding the bike and turns off when I turn the key off. I a...
