Re: la Nina rears her ugly head

What is too darn hot for you Californians/Arizonians/NewMexicans/Texans/Lousianians/Alabamians/Floridans?
There is the humidity aspect to it as well, dry heat makes the heat worse.

Re: E-bike mid-drive motors hardly outperforms hub motors

More complexity to the mid drives and if your motor chain breaks, or something (power, trail dmg) breaks your drive train have fun walking. Changing gears on full power can break things - there is the sensor you can install on some of the m.d's. I've noticed on some hill climbs on my dd hub I need t...

Re: Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

How big do you think the market is for people who want that kind of motor? It seems to me most people except the few want more then 1kw and stay within their arbitrary, made up local/regional limits. The few diy'ers that do custom, probably settle on 1.5kw Leaf, or 3kw QS/MXUS, the fewer diy'ers are...

Thats funny claiming engineering and not cheaping out, profit margins and the illusion of a rugged plug & play connector.
When I had a kit with that plug, the entire connector bent in short time because can't always unplug it straight up, especially when tired and changing a tire.

Re: Trouble removing rear wheel - Biktrix stunner LT

I have similar problem that was easy to deal with where I just have to separate the clamping force of the dropouts, I just shove in the handle of a long adj wrench to separate each side of the dropout, then deal with the chain while sliding the wheel out. Thing is I have a large diameter direct driv...

Re: Gadgets on your eBike that you couldn't live without

Ignition, I liked it on the KT for dd hub setup to run into store all the while keeping a close eye. I sold that Conhismotor KT kit to a bike courier, took awhile to burn up a ebay cheapie kit (25h). A temperature gauge is good to have, would have saved my mxus 3kw (45H). Ferrofluid to help cool a h...

Re: new eZip motor

Not a bad price at all for $100/kw but I would go split pack 3x5S = 15S8P 63V for those 3.5Ah 10A and 28Ah (8P) and three cheap 5S 20.4V 12.3A chargers, or step up and get a MW 21A chargers for 48-52V battery. I don't mind losing 0.6V from 5S, the chargers are so compact, so much better then the exp...

Re: Do some motors have more/less torque with the same power levels?

Do not play the efficiency game with hub motors. Its not a significant role.

There are other factors to consider like price, weight, power, range and battery.

Interesting, the 4-3/8 fork is bent a bit, 3.95" is 100mm. 110mm (4-3/8" or 4-5/16") is 20mm downhill axles. How thick is that flat plate steel you have in the picture? Maybe slide if inside the forks dropout spreading the fork a bit. You could use a cordless drill to drill out the dr...

Yea your right magnets will tell ya if its aluminum or steel. I guess metric/sae tape measures are banned in the good ole usa 4-3/8" so 4" is 101.6mm and 3/8 is 9.52mm, 110mm fork. Though I bet you put the tape measure end claw on the outside of the forks dropout not in the picture. As the...
