Re: What generally causes hall failure?

Well did you buy a genuine hall sensor from an authorized dealer like Mouser.com or did you buy from some back alley hustler on ebay where you'd really have no clue if the hall sensor was genuine, counterfeit, rebranded from a dirt cheap chip. You know counterfeits are everywhere, I even heard airli...

Re: What generally causes hall failure?

Damaged hall wiring at the axle exit
Cooked halls
Loose halls that get damaged
Installing the wrong hall sensors
Miswiring the hall sensors

Go with a sensored&sensorless controller and you wont have to bother with halls, but if you want the smoothness of sensored you can have both.

Re: new eZip motor

Spending more money on a I.R. meter - will you test to see if the meter you bought is actually accurate? Go check out the EEVBlog youtube channel, that Aussy probably has done some reviews on battery IR meters. If you can't find anything there the Aussy also has his own forum to post on. Since your ...

Re: Can a rear DD hub be modified to fit front

I am riding a Leaf 1500W rear motor (135mm r.d.o) in the fork of my fat bike (135mm d.o.) Yes I took out the freewheel and by eyeballing it all, it seems to be inline and not far off. My previous fat bike (Costco) had an odd fork dropout width but it wasn't to far off. If I had a reg mtb, then all I...

I was being sarcastic neptronix I know it doesnt come across well online and I know how much time, effort and work you put into the forum just to maintain it let alone how much extra time, effort and work you're putting into the new forum setup. Of course a working scheme can be found for anything and everything so much as you have enough time and money and reverse engineering capabilities and it comes down to just that, how much time and how much money are you willing to spend? This is especially true if your at the forefront, however if t...

Re: Display KT-LCD3 won't turn on

Probably a loose connection that shorts out the display and fries it. It maybe an obvious snag in the cabling or a hidden defect where the outter sleeve look fine but the inner wires are frayed and you'd never know. Just get rid of the display and hook up a normal sensorless controller rather then k...

Re: How many watts do I need?

1kw @ 275#'s is the bare minimum, having the ability to grab more power if you want it is good to have. Having a good motor that can handle the power, buying a sufficient yet good quality battery to handle that power, then limiting it all with a cheap controller. BBSHD 48V 40A ##Ah Battery 48V 10-25...

I am still wondering about what is the best meter for internal resistance. I always love it when someone asks about the "best" of something because one persons "best" isn't another persons "best" and my guess is $3800 isnt Curtis' "best" https://www.fluke.com...

How far do you want to go on one charge? How much time do you want to wait to guerilla charge your battery? There are some nice chargers out there that can pump lots of juice into batteries from a standard wall outlet. We're talking 43 ~ 55V at 21A sipping on 12A out of the outlet. Thats 1150W and i...

Re: Gas "Generator" <pumping> Electric fast "Charger" via electric bike

I like the Satiator a lot, but if I was to buy another charger and for guerilla charing, it would be the Meanwell 1500W thats right on the limit of a wall outlet (15A) but spits out like 0 ~ 32A at up to 43 ~ 56V which is 1800W so in an hour relaxing on a coffee shop patio could reach 70km range. Ac...

Re: Best place to buy replacement battery ? Acer 7741z

You's got to be careful these days, a non genuine battery could cause harm to your laptop just like a non genuine charger causes harm to laptops. Louis Rossmann vlogs about it all the time, but if your laptop is unimportant and cheap then who really cares right. Easily replaced info from your hd's. ...

Re: chainring and buzz bars advise

BCD is the biggest thing, where the chain ring bolts onto the crank. Next is if you go to big a chain ring you might hit the frame. I find having 1x7 gears is plenty for cruising around with the occasional steep hill, the biggest thing is having enough power and helping out the best you can with a 2...

Save your money and spend more time reading up on the difference between motors, pro's and con's to each hub motor, geared vs direct drive, play around with the tools to figure out your riding terrain and what specs to buy.
