They will have unreasonable s/h prices to make up the difference. With those prices its too good to be true.

Re: Car replacement in London/Other Cold Weather

Can you take bicycles on the underground tube train system? If so, they are probably not allowed during peak rush hour. Set her up with an ebike with lots of power and hide it very well. I doubt she'd be doing anything crazy, but still have the Uummphfff to speed past buses and taxis and other moron...

That is exactly what I was thinking of.
torque plates for a rear motor that also include a much beefier rack attachment point.

Re: GPS tracker

Downloaded a random program for my Windows phone, GPS Tracker is what its called. Got the GPX file, converted it to KMZ, installed Google Earth and it comes up. It gives me a good route tracer in G.E. and a bunch of stats within the cell phone app, but no way points.

Time to hunt down a good app.

Those store bought ebikes, are limited to  32kph.... too slow for me

I've only ridden one store bought ebike, the BionX at Bow Cycle 8 years ago. When I roam bicycle stores I see lots now, but the price tag is shocking.

Re: Chinese e-bike

Could be the cheap BMS used on the battery. Whatever the case fully charging the battery and leaving it for a few days is not ideal to begin with, but it should never fully discharge the battery. Your battery could very well be completely dead, like reading zero volts. Does your charger work on it?

Re: Worst Crashes/Accidents/Failures etc on E-bike: Bring pics

Today's failures 1 - My rear alum townie electra rack broke 3" off the bottom mount. Fix - Buying an on sale 200A stick welder. 2 - My springy seat likes to loosen, and the retaining bolt for the spring is lost. Yesterday's failure 1 - What I assume was a disc only rim broke. About 8 inches of sidew...

Re: MXUS 3k v3 TURBO phase wire

10awg is doable, I think I used either 8awg or 10awg, but it was very very tight. Through axle -> Yes, there is a technique to doing it. Insert sensor wire first! Then there is 'Getting cover plate on' -> Issue's - Mine kept pinching and damaging the insulation. I ended up going to 12awg ptfe teflon...

I like to put voltage down in the middle of the voltage plateau curve.

At $320usd shipped is not too bad, have you looked at the Cyclone TW website?
http://www.cyclone-tw.com/motor.html
They have listed a 18kw motor for $550usd, 8kw $340, cont's another $150 plus shipping.

Re: Most powerful rear hub motor for 135mm MTB frame?

You could look into buying a front hub motor and using a rear hub motor to get more power. For instance a QS or mxus 3kw direct drive rear, with a d.d. 9c clone up front. Geared motors like the MAC from em3ev are pretty powerful. Can use the motor simulator at www.ebikes.ca and you can click the ADD...

You should try this, to save battery life.
[+] Saving Battery Life
1) Actually pedal, 2) try to reduce weight, 3) get in an aerodynamic position like a lower tuck position or semi/full recumbant position

Re: Electric handbike

It can be as easy as going to Home Depot and buying a 36V battery used with mowers and trimmers, or you can order an ebike battery from Justin at www.ebikes.ca If 25kph was his previous speed on 24V, then you'd buy 24V battery. But if he wasnt going that fast previously, then go with a 36V battery p...

Re: Boost 110v AC to 120v AC or slightly more

Another term for Variac is the Autotransformer, on ebay I dont see many rated for 30A or more, so maybe there would be an issue making your own with a microwave transformer because the wires are thin. On my DIY tab welder I used welding grade cable, to get low output voltage and high current. Anothe...

Re: Boost 110v AC to 120v AC or slightly more

It may be as simple as using a transformer out of a high wattage microwave. You'd only really need to add or remove one turn from the winding for that 10V gain on the secondary. Another route is just tapping into the windings. Variac - http://www.variac.com/staco_Variable_Transformer_Map.htm - Expen...
