Re: Difference between Vbrake posts 24/26/29"

Thanks Chalo I will use 25.4mm (1") instead of my 28mm. IMG_0704.JPG The difference in radius between a 24" and 26" wheel is one inch-- actual, not nominal-- and the position of the bosses is one inch lower for 24" wheels. 700c/29" wheels need bosses 1.25" (31.5mm) higher than those for 26".

Difference between Vbrake posts 24/26/29"

As far as I can tell, it might just be 56mm (5.6cm) between a 24" fork and a 26" fork brake posts. I base it on average ERD's for 24" and 26" rims off the Sunringle pdf Seems like a lot, but if I halve that 56mm it is 28mm which seems about right. My online searches reveal nothing. Making an adapter...

Re: $14.99 72v Sunwin Controller

Anyone get regen braking on these, the labeling is long off mine. I dont want regeneration of power, just regen braking to save on buying brake pads. Always nice to have a $250USD Kelly or Powervelocity controller but I am just too cheap. Onto the search, found some info. This post will be me book m...

Re: 60kw bicycle

Kelly likes to name their controllers after the phase amps, not the battery amps. 60 kW is never going to happen with that setup, because it will only output the maximum 700 amps at low speed (low voltage). To calculate the maximum power of your bike you need to use battery amps (the input current ...

Fat Mans Seat ?

3 seats #1 is a good seat, steel base, steel loops, steel plate rails, 1/2" of movement stock 3" or 3.5" springs. #2 is shitty, plastic base, steel loops, steel plate rails, 1/2" smaller rings then #1, Metal loop broke after 2 days. #3 is the red one, plastic base, unsure about the rest, dont matter...

Re: Compound Gearing with two IGH

I have tossed the idea around myself as well. The best implementation is a simple one. Spend some money on a 5, 7 or 8 speed IGH. I am not thinking of a DIY mid-drive setup, but had a vague idea of keeping the hub motor in the rear but be able to keep a pedal cadence to help out the motor at speed. ...

The only thing that comes to mind are the rejected 18650's that the brand name corporations give to the other brands like Trust Fire and such. But yeah, its in China's culture to counterfeit and make money.

Re: planetary geared mid-drive verses geared hubmotor?

Mid Drive's are good for hill climbing because you can choose the gearing with your bikes shifters. The downside to a Mid Drive is that it sticks out to anyone viewing from the side angle. Brits/Aussies/NewYorkers/Some Europeans seem to care about obeying the law for wattage. Both are noisy due to t...

Sorry Chalo, I did not see your posts. Had a post open while working on the spreadsheet. Its not a practical situation, just a "What if" The gears I chose, were just random to see the final ratio's. Re: Compound Gearing with two IGH

. I was totally confused but I think I have it now. The only part that totally confused me was trying to figure out the Ratio * Gear = Effective Gear just because it is opposite of a Gear on Gear or a Ratio on Ratio and either one is Out/In, or Cassette/Crank. Its just a math equation that stuck in...

Compound Gearing with two IGH

How does one calculate using two normal IGH with a gear mounted on the spoke flange for both IGH? Crank of 10T going to the regular #1 IGH Gear of 20T 3 Speed IGH internal ratio's are both 75/100/125% A 30T flange mounted gear going to the normal #2 IGH Gear of 40T with same ratios, and a 50T flang...

Re: Where are the hq geared hub motors?

If I were to buy a geared motor, the MAC is the one I'd buy but I do love the d.d. MXUS. Still going strong. Had to replace one bearing and hall sensors a few times because of my fault. For a new motor/design perhaps we get a petition together and send it to 2 producers. Another option is to build o...

Re: Purpose of the white stripe on Schwalbe tires?

Chalo is right, the white stripe is on the last column/row of knobs. There there is a greyish stripe that is reflective that is on the sidewall. Cosmetic feature makes sense, like white wall automobile tires. The one in the picture doesn't look like a reflective stripe. It's partway into the knobby ...

Walk down any auto parts aisle and imagine all the little bits and pieces and larger stuff required to make any engine. Then imagine all the things that can go wrong. Imagine all the maintenance, oil changes, spark plugs that goes into that engine. Then look at a simple electric vehicle, forklift mo...

I wonder if a child's bicycle rim could be used in place of the 3D printed pulley? Possibly with some cogs bolted through the spoke holes to engage the belt. I believe that is normally how its done. I never paid much attention to it, I would guess its attached through the sidewall of the rim so the...

Been using the 3 wire Dell laptop charger for a month or so, its the 130W 19.50V 6.7A and its real sensitive. I've had to play games with it to trick it into charging using a resistive element. Re: Milwaukee battery out of balance

That is what the LiPo people do to rebalance them in a timely manner if they are too out of balance.
They take 2 pins and insert into the balance leads of LiPo pack to charge or discharge until equal.
