Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

evolutiongts , May I ask you with the BAC 4000 and 330A phase amps. Are you able to easily wheelie the bike without pulling the front of the bike up? What about at 20 - 25MPH,, is that enough power to lift the front of the bike up to wheelie without pulling the wheel up? With my Max-E and cromotor,...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Not sure why he’s got it installed that way either, the controller has it’s cooling shroud facing in that way. Also, the 8000 is almost the same size as the stock controller and mounts very clean (even in the proper orientation). I agree that you don’t need more power than the 4000 puts out but it’s...

Re: Modded Sur ron Question

im running the 8000 with 72v32ah of 12c multistar lipos and ride it daily, and hard. I only had one issue that Im attributing to heat where the controller was throwing a fault-hall-sensor error and would't spin up until it had cooled. Even for that though, I think it was the controller since I hadn'...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I don’t know who started the rumor that the ASI is hard to set up, you’re going to detonate your motor.... blah blah. I got the 8000 probably close to 6 months ago. Set it up in one day and just keep tweaking the configs for fun. I was worried about throttle control beforehand but then one day after...

Re: Oset 24" build

I ride trials, not mx and the surron is def a better bike all around. Upgrade the controller and batteries and you have infinite options for power delivery. I squeezed a 19x3.5” trials tire on the back. With the bike being on the smaller side, that rear paired with some 27.5 dorado forks and mtb tir...

Re: SURRON LB: RESEARCH & DEVELOPEMENT

Here is the wiring diagram from the manual. It is not fully detailed or accurate, but gives an overall layout. As far as I can tell, the 12V dc-dc converter is inside the controller. The small plug on the battery feeds 12v to the backlight on the battery fuel gauge and the bike can run without it b...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

iSo I stuffed 18s32ah in the battery box of multistars (6X4s16ah+2X6s16ah). They all fit barely (I slightly sanded down each side of the rear of the opening where the bolts protrude and its a tight fit but not enough to distort the cells. Initially, I was just running xt60s between the series but, ...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Strava says I just did 50mph on a slight downhill with the 58t sprocket, 19x3.5 trials rear and 18s of multistars. Good fun but makes the stock pack less exciting.

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

And to add to that, I found 50 pads for $50 on ali express. Although you’ll run 4 pads per brake you are effectively upgrading to mt7. I’ve been running them on the stock rotors with no issue.

Has anyone tried any other controllers besides the asi yet???

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

i know initially they modified the BMS (in this thread) and used the ASI controller. figure still same asi controller plus maybe a battery upgrade? Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Does anyone know the HVC of the stock controller? it's happy with 16s, but will it take 18s, 20s? I dont want to start upping the voltage until I see the magic smoke...

Also,l wonder the same about the new SW controller.. I have way too many 5 and 6s lipos laying around.

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I blew my rear shock a few days ago. Leaked all the fluid out the bottom. So far weak points on the bike: Light (it’s ok but you can do much better for $7 on eBay) Brakes (they suck, levers, pads, etc...Buy some Maguras from starbike) Suspension (sucks compared to what’s available used from pinkbike...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

My buddy made himself and me a replacement guard out of thicker aluminum. Very nice and fits like a glove. Back to the clutch topic, the new high end gasgas txt-e comes with a clutch and 6speed tranny. 13k though. Regardless, I think a clutch is a must for higher level competitive trials at least. E...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Does anyone know the current limiting on the bms, AND the controller? Asking to see if I should throw together a 16s multistage pack out of the 8 4s16ah packs I have on the bench. They fit in the battery box, and I’ve already made an xt-90 to Supra-x adapter... Would the controller be able to suck m...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

So what’s the word on brake pads? One of my rear pads is worn to the backer now. My rear pads turned to dust the first week. Luna didn’t have any in stock so refunded me $20 almost instantly. Since then I’ve upgraded to magura mt5 that I found for $80/each from starbike.... literally night and day ...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Threw the supermoto rear with 48t sprocket in today. Rollout measures 12% lower but only lost 6% top speed as checked by roadside radar. Definitely a keeper combo! I wouldn’t mind even more gear reduction. I just cut up sheet of 7075 for 58t sprockets because that is all I have sold, no 5...

so i've gone through about every mod discussed here except for electronics upgrade. here a few experiences with some recent topics: the peg/tire clearance - probably just remove the kickstand... once you upgrade the wheels/tires it becomes too short and prone to tipping if you're not careful. Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

So, quick question for the experienced guys..... I want more power (like evertyone) and am contemplating voiding my warrenty before I really should and swapping out the controller (i also just picked up 8 x 16ah 4s multistars for just over $400 to make a 16s32ah pack). I've got 2 controllers (and sp...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Lightning does strike twice.... I like johnrobholmes have unpacked my new sur ron only to find my battery completely dead.
