zero calculations made w/ this build (except for RPM calculations) it's all based on intuition  Yeah i do it the same way most of the time, but sometimes it's deeply interesting to know some values :) yeah it would be great to be able to do finite element analysis and such. instead of t...

Re: New build, BHT mid-drive "direct", custom frame

the motor can slide forward/back to adjust chain tension. i probably have to torque those bolts really hard though to keep the motor from "creeping" Did you do calculations for the maximum pulling force on the motor? The controller phase amps multiplied with kT will give you max motor torque. From ...

Re: New build, BHT mid-drive "direct", custom frame

Cool project! I'm a big fan of frames with lots of steel tube fabrication. Hope the rest of the frame looks like the swingarm so far. You could add a plate on the other side of the thin slotted motor mount area. Drill holes the same as your motor mount bolt pattern and use set-screws to set the cha...

how much you pay (in usd or euros) for your rear hub? Can I see it for sale on some web shop?

it's an aftermarket hub for a certain 150cc motorcycle. i purchased it from a local shop, not online

should be welding soon. i modified the design yet again

motor's gonna bolt onto that plate. chain tension adjustment by moving motor forward/back. greatly simplifies the rear axle parts

swingarm-mounted motor also eliminates chain growth issues

Re: Rebuilding notebook battery pack...will it be better than original?

careful w/ disconnecting the wires from the BMS. some of them shutdown permanently if they detect any unusual voltages from the sense lines so you may have to do a "live" transplant

and many notebooks use 4.3 or 4.35v cells so you have to be careful not to use 4.2v cells

cheap coil shocks can be simple w/ no damping

but some cheap ones w/ some rebound damping have primitive designs that have "spiking" issues i.e. very harsh on high-speed hits

a high number of interconnects isn't inherently less safe. actually this is something that is easy to get right  however a lot of things can and do go wrong w/ poorly designed 18650 packs. the metal can itself is one huge negative terminal covered by super thin PVC. have just a little chafing ...
