this is actually my first time to notch so i'm surprised that it worked as well as it did  maybe you just have to compensate for the thickness of the pipe. the template generated is really for a theoretical zero-thickness pipe. https://i.imgur.com/IVHKf7j.jpg "footpegs". cheap VP Components ped...

Re: Mid Drive Steel Frame Bike

very nice fab skills! is that MIG welding?

btw i'm just a bit concerned about the strength of the swingarm since you cut holes in it (red arrow). this weakens the rectangular tube. maybe you could weld a circular "cap" over the hole to strengthen it

Great progress! I'm curious about which method you use to bend tubes. And the tube notching is perfect how you did it? there's a machine shop very close to my house about 1 block away. i just print an actual size template of the bends and he does them on the steel pipe using a manual pipe bender w/...

mid-drives EAT drivetrains. over thousands of kilometers riding different mid-drives i've ruined many cassettes, chains, derailleurs, derailleur hangers, etc. so now i use only the cheapest 8spd components

3p shouldn't take long to balance. and if you built it well and if the cells are all from the same batch you don't even have to balance for like a year

.15mm nickel tabs spot welded to the A123. then 10ga stranded copper wire soldered on top. i guess the little spot welds create a bottleneck. but right now i can't think of a better way, without soldering directly onto the A123 That looks like what I was thinking originally. Obviously you were able...

i guess soldering is ok if done fast. but i don't do it anymore because spot welding is easier.

Re: Marzocchi fork help

you don't really need to have the QR-type 20mm axle. the pinch bolts you have now were orginally small QR levers if i'm not mistaken. so you simply need a plain 20mm axle of the correct length (it'll still have a bolt at the end to press everything together). then the pinch bolts will clamp onto the...

Re: Will the battery pack okay if the cells are not glued together?

if not glued it's possible for cells to chafe through (due to vibration) the very thin PVC sleeves and short.

for added protection i like putting a layer of kapton tape between opposing parallel groups, then bonding w/ silicone sealant

Re: Paralell 13s5p 18650s with rc lipos?

i've done experiments here: https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=83141 the GA's need to be discharged to 2.5v to get the most out of them. can your lipos go this low? if not then this isn't a good plan then what'll happen is the lipos will contribute more in the beginning. but as the li...

i have an old marzocchi drop-off dual-crown. primitive damper by today's standards. but i love the open-bath design. very simple, the same oil lubricates everything. it isn't leaking yet but i've purchased these seals just in case: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Fork-OIL-SEAL-fit-MARZOCCHI-32-mm-FO...

i use 13s4p Sanyo GA w/ my BBS02. it lost 5% capacity in 14months of use. that's more than good enough for me

take note you're not going to be drawing 30A all the time w/ a BBS mid-drive on typical trail scenarios

Re: TrustFire 14500 900mAh - trust or not?

i've used trustfire 14500's for flashlights and they're ok. trustfire is a just wrapper. the base cell inside was probably made by by an OK chinese factory like DLG, BAK or whatever. or maybe not. but the ones i've used were ok
