Re: Adaptto Mini-E/Max-E Owner's Thread

Hello everyone, do I ask you how do I completely reset the adappto controller? I need to delete miles and battery cycles. Thanks There's a master reset under the controller configuration -> advanced configuration menu, but I don't think that resets stats, just configuration. Go to the stats screen ...

Re: Adaptto Mini-E/Max-E Owner's Thread

Alright, so that's indeed the case. There are two versions of the password-protected firmware out there. One with PAS and no throttle, and one with both. After spending far too long trying to track down this mythical throttle-and-password firmware, I realized in this zip file, "PSW protected profile...

That could be it. That might be a problem, since I don't have a PAS sensor.

Re: Adaptto Mini-E/Max-E Owner's Thread

When you say password protected firmware, is that the unlocked firmware where you can raise the amps very high? No, that's the "unlocked" firmware. The password-protected version requires you to enter a button combo in order to switch out of eco mode or to access the menus. I haven't found a passwo...

Re: Adaptto Mini-E/Max-E Owner's Thread

Alright, so I've tried out the password-protected firmware I found in this thread. It works, but it's very broken for some reason. When I flash the password-protected version, the password works and I can't switch out of "eco" without entering the password. However, eco mode is completely broken, an...

Re: How quickly can hall sensors break?

Have you considered that the problem might be mechanical? I've had something similar happen where the pins were snapping off the sensors due to vibrations and centrifugal force. Solved it by potting the pins using RTV silicone elastomer to dampen vibrations.

Re: Nissan Leaf Modules - How fast is "too fast" for charging?

EVBatteryCenter has a document talking about charge rates and some other stuff here: https://evbatterycenter.com/HAC4/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=72&Itemid=631 1/3C is the "normal" charge rate. The "fast charge" mode can be as high as 120A, though charging that fast every day will s...

Re: Adaptto Mini-E/Max-E Owner's Thread

Yeah it appears these connectors are not genuine Amass brand. I've resoldered the phase wire and the controller works again. I've sprung the prongs on the male side of all my XT150 connectors just to ensure better contact. Before, I could take apart the connectors with one hand, they slid apart pret...

Re: Adaptto Mini-E/Max-E Owner's Thread

So here's a new one I haven't seen before... Took the bike for a spin yesterday, was giving it some juice, trying to see if i could squeeze some extra power out using OVS settings. I wasn't doing anything tooooo crazy, but I did give it wide-open throttle for about 15 seconds and it got up to 134A. ...

Re: Adaptto Mini-E/Max-E Owner's Thread

Oooh! That looks new! I like how the FETs are heatsunk into the top of the chassis, that'll provide a bigger surface area for heatsinks.

What power is that rated for?

not worth i think for some amps on top......dont dance with the devil.....if you brick your midi-e you have to put back your cycle analyst on the bar with other controller :P Fair enough, I really don't want to kill this thing. However, maxed out at 120A batt, 300A phase, with the new heatsinks ins...

Re: Adaptto Mini-E/Max-E Owner's Thread

Does anyone have the current unlocked password-protected firmware for a MIDI-E? I've scoured this thread and found what looks to be the locked version, but I've never seen anyone mention the existence of an unlocked, password-protected firmware. Luckily I haven't unlocked my firmware yet, so I shoul...

Re: Adaptto Midi-E overheating problems?

Hmm, so I don't have anything to measure with right now. When I set up the controller I needed the circumference of the wheel, which I think I recall was 1030mm, giving a diameter of 328mm or 12.9 inches, which seems reasonable. The winding I got is 40*3T, 1110 RPM@72V, 15.42kV. So, by my back of th...

Re: Adaptto Midi-E overheating problems?

The wheel is 10", I believe. That'd be the inner diameter, and this tire is a bit bigger than the stock one, I'd say 2.5-3" thick. Yeah, you're probably right. I wonder though if I shouldn't just get a MAX-E instead of a different motor though. I'd look at maybe a sabvoton or something, but I feel l...

Re: Adaptto Midi-E overheating problems?

I chose this motor when I was using 16S and a kelly controller. I wanted a bit more speed out of the voltage I already had, and was willing to sacrifice some torque to get it. I bought a new battery, 20S, and instead of buying a new charger and BMS, I came across a used MIDI-E for $750CAD and figure...

Alright, well the seller agreed to sell me quantity 3, so I no longer have any need to do this GB. Sorry for anyone who might have been interested! Re: Any interest in Adaptto heatsink groupbuy? [CLOSED]

I know not a lot of people are buying these controllers these days, so this might have a limited audience, but I've been looking into getting some heatsinks for my Adaptto controller made up. There's a seller on ebay selling 160x80mm heatsinks, which offers the ability to cut to any length you want,...

Re: Adaptto Midi-E overheating problems?

You sound a lot happier! I guess so. The torque is there, which was my biggest complaint. The heat though, is still a problem. I wish I could put 8kw continuous through a 8kw controller, but I guess that's not how it's meant to be used. I'm going to need to buy some heatsinks, thermal adhesive, and...

Re: Adaptto Midi-E overheating problems?

Oh and to answer a couple questions, currently my motor doesn't seem to be overheating. The most I've ever seen is 85c when I was riding it really, really hard trying to test the limits of things. Usually under normal load it stays around 60-70c. I think this is within spec, and I'm going to buy som...

Re: Adaptto Midi-E overheating problems?

Alright, since yesterday I've gone and moved my controller to underneath the bike, which hopefully should make it easier to create a duct to force air over it. When I plugged in the phase wires, naturally since they're not marked or color-coded, I must have put them in a different combination. When ...

I ended up getting a chance to do some more testing today, the weather was nice enough. I tired taking the controller apart to reapply thermal compound and maybe silicone...

Thanks for the suggestions! Unfortunately I'm already on my second set of hall effect sensors. The "C" channel on the first set is stuck open. Re: Adaptto Midi-E getting overheating problems

Hmm, yeah. I dunno. I think the speed is about correct. On 80v I'm getting around 80kmph. If I increase the OVS (field weakening) setting, it goes up to 105, maybe higher, I don't want to try. This setting gets me more speed at the expense of my motor getting hotter, but it doesn't seem to heat the ...

Re: Adaptto Midi-E getting overheating problems

Hmm. Wouldn't that cause noise and vibration? Jerkyness? The motor runs incredibly smooth and silent except during the autodetect portion where it's trying all the invalid hall offset angles etc. The manual for it says to hook up the phase wires arbitrarily, and they're not color coded. As for the h...
