Re: E-bike or E-trike for winter commuting?

I have a lot of experience riding in harsh Alberta Canada winter Studied tires are THE MUST WHEN the roads are packed snow and ice. Lately, MN winters are relatively mild as far as snow and ice. I don't commute or ride on ice except in winters where there are ice and snow packed ...

AFAIK the subsidized rates only go up to around four and a half pounds, so not many ebike/etc batteries will qualify for that (though individual cells do for the ebike-sized stuff and some of the bigger car-sized stuff).

Spot on USPS does not ship larger battery packs. Legally at least.

Re: How a Lunacycle / Hailong battery fares after 2 years..

From the 4 early batteries I opened up, all were somewhat different in construction. Leading me to believe there were several, all different sources. I do have a Dolphin from Luna and one from UPP that are identical, down to the BMS, Kapton, sticky cardboard and reinforced tape used. The worst lot I...

I thought perhaps Fastenal, headquartered here, might have them in AU. A kick search of Google AU got LOTS of sources.

"The poster child for the movement to overhaul the rates was the "Mighty Mug," a patented spill-proof travel coffee mug. It cost the U.S. company $6.30 to ship by regular mail from New Jersey, the company CEO Jayme Smaldone wrote in February. But a Chinese company that sold a knock-off version could...

Full circle here, back to Mr. Reliability, EM3ev. Paul's packs have a much lower failure rate. Having Bluetooth to gauge battery should be a very helpful troubleshooting tool.

Re: IT'S ALIVE...... BBS02HD!!

Any idea if the metal gear made for the BBSHD will fit in the BBS02? Plastic gear meltdowns were pretty common on the BBS02. There was an experiment on a Luna run page and it was a failure. Others have come forward claiming they can make a gear that will work but so far unobtanium. I have to ask ho...

Provide after sale service locally? Where? I know of a UPP customer battery in Germany for repair. Two new batteries failed and were sent for repair. I saw photos on facebook of a repair done in Germany and it was very bad. One year warranty is useless if the warranty is never honored. I have watche...

Re: Reliable aliexpress battery pack?

After selling UPP batteries for 2 years, and quite a few at that, we've watched the quality control tumble. BAD BMS. To many failures and it's a fight to get UPP and Rechie to acknowledge the problem. Early on, very good builds, and very willing to build to spec. Something has changed. Sadly we've ...

Re: The future of our forum - facebook versus web forums

I believe the proper way for ES to go is to extend and modify phpbb. phpbb is oldschool, but at least written in a relatively sane manner. Modernvespa.com is maintained by an Apple employee. Some of it's features are almost draconian, for lack of a better wordpoking, but self-policing and well wort...

Re: List of small hatchback cars

I thought that might be the case with the fit. At least a bit noisy to drive freeway speed. ( out here, that's 85 mph btw, 75-speed limit) Not a problem if its a drive half an hour to work car, but on a 700-mile drive, quieter gets nice. With the focus vs the Subaru, it was noise coming from the fr...

Re: List of small hatchback cars

How is the noise level of the fit? That was the other turn off for me, on the focus. The ford focus was not bad noisy, like our tiny ford festiva was. But after I drove the Subaru a lot I got used to pretty darn quiet ride. Then we'd sometimes take a longer trip in the focus just for the better mil...

Re: List of small hatchback cars

how a car fits IS important. the wifes focus cars always made my back hurt, both of em. I'm taller, so I saw out of them fine. But the foresters have been the car that fits me best. No back hurts with those seats. Van has the best seats though, long as gas stays below three bucks its now the choice...

Re: List of small hatchback cars

New Rav is sweet IMO. Picked it up yesterday. Thrilled by the tow capacity and tongue weight. The upihtposition make getting in and out easily no more gunning an groaning and depending on my cane to rise up and out. Mileage sucks, but good visual positioning unlike the Prius. Everything high mileage ...

Re: List of small hatchback cars

We looked into Subarus for my wife. Every single used one had a different engine noise that indicates issues with the headgasket, timing chain/belt, or worse, and these cars were in the 100-150k mileage range. The smaller new subarus come with a 2.0L motor that blows oil out the tailpipe and is eve...

With good care our Camry is spotless after 4 years in the desert and 11years in salted snow. Every little econo box makes you get up of the ground to get out. I hated the Yaris I drove as a rental. As I remember, it did not ride well and the there was no feedback from the steering or controls so it was hard to drive smoothly. Maybe they got better, but would not look at those. Mazda 2 is something we considered before the Fit and it was OK. Mazda 3 is a ...
