Re: smart BMS - balance charging at partial charges?

I find the "smart chargers" to be problems. Displays give out, fans quit, and they sometimes overheat. Also found I like having different voltage batteries and have several bikes, Making the Grin Cycle Satiator the cat's meow! I can charge my 12V. 24V, 36v, 48v and 52V. Variable percentages includin...

Re: Super glue nickel strips to 18650?

[ Googling resulted in a lot of hits. Not sure which one you are referring to. And you want to use the LOW melting temp solder. If the cell heats during use to anywhere near the temperature that would affect the solder, you'll have much bigger problems. Sorry, there ar3 a few flir videos. Here’s Mi...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike from China

Well, I found it at Luna. Should of bought direct from Sur-ron. Doesn't look like much savings as it is listed at $3,300 and $160 shipping. $3,460 is not bad, just $400 more than I was quoted by Sur-ron. I guess you do get support and no Not legal in all 50 states. Other Features: Quick swappable b...

Re: Super glue nickel strips to 18650?

I got it right, but my point is that if you do the soldering fast enough - there will be no damage to the battery at all, even if your soldering iron is at 450°C. But the best idea (imho) is the Vruzend kit (tanks again, fechter ) Nope, look around. Some recent work by Micah Toll shows how wrong yo...

Re: Is it possible to overcharge a batterypack due to defective BMS?

yes very possible to overcharge especially if the pack is out of balance. If one row of cells reads higher than the rest and your monitoring for overall voltage, the overall voltage can be below the max, though one row of cells are already past there max voltage. A multimeter will only tell you ove...

Re: Batteries vs Cold ☃

I put my bike in the basement for the winter just last week because of the snow and ice here in Boston. Wondering if anyone has a recommendation for maintaining the battery until spring. It is a 48v 26.1ah panasonic 13650 lithium ion pack. I have a 4amp charger. Should I charge it once a week, one ...

Re: Electric Cargo-bike POWER system for steep terrain?

No mountains, no need for high speed, I need traction and reliability. I think, given the popularity among some very active builders, single controllers for 2wd will sooner or later be marketed. Don't know if your comments were pointed towards me, but thanks if they were . They are just not inline w...

Re: Electric Cargo-bike POWER system for steep terrain?

If you go to a 72V battery on the same grade, you get this: Thinking about this option. 14S7P Battery Option 20.65 AH 30Q 60A Smart BMS. OR since it's not as much speed as 2wd traction with studded tires on ice, I could reprogram the controllers and run a 36V setup and build a custom battery. I hav...

Nice controllers for sure, but they are buck controllers and wouldn't be useful charging my Ebike. The MPT-7210A is CC/CV, something I need for my LiPoly.
