Re: BBS02 750W controller dead

If you are not ready to take the good with the bad, perhaps DYI ebikes just isn't your thing So you are saying that if you put out hard earned cash for one of these, then you should be quite happy with a catastrophic failure in the first 20km? If you're happy with that, then why don't you put your ...

Re: BBS02 750W controller dead

It will certainly help lots of people and also give others holding back a bit more confidence to go with the drive I'm sure they'll be thrilled they had the confidence to go with this drive when the controller dies in 20 or so kilometers. Even so that it has been proven possible to fix it yourself,...

Re: Bafang BBSxx - fault finding and fixes

Dreaded slight click, dead controller problem? I have just yesterday installed a BBS02 750w kit on a Giant Trance. A few kms for a test ride and all was good. Today I turned the bike on, picked up the back wheel and gave it a spin with the throttle. No problem, then jumped on to ride around the yar...

How to contact Bafang company?

I have bought a BBS02 750w kit from em3ev, and with less than 20km it has died. I have tried to contact em3ev and after multiple emails a reply from Moon, I was told Paul was on his way to the USA and would contact me when he could. Aparently no one else there can help. So I have decided to take up ...

I have hydro brakes, so I'm not using the ebrakes, but I hooked one up for a test. When I activated the ebrake I couldn't hear the click coming from the motor.

Re: bbs02 installation question

After sending a few emails to em3ev I have just received a message from Moon. Paul can't answer my technical questions because he is on the way to the USA.

So much for going with a "trusted" supplier. I could be stuck for a while.

I should have gone with an AFT kit.

Re: bbs02 installation question

Totally agree about the service from Paul and Moon at em3ev. Top stuff! I only installed the kit yesterday, and after a 20km ride I can see why everybody is raving about these fantastic kits. I shouldn't have written that so early. Just after I posted that I went out to the bike, turned it on and g...

Re: Bafang BBSxx - fault finding and fixes

What sort of battery plugs are you using? We have seen the same problem with cheap battery plugs being used. You get enough contact to fire the screen up but not enough for the drive to activate. Make sure your battery connection is perfect. I am using the em3ev supplied tail for their triangle bat...

Re: Bafang BBSxx - fault finding and fixes

Are you using the ebrake levers? Have you tried disconnecting them? I have hydrolic brakes, and so I didn't have the ebrake levers connected. I tried connecting one and activating it, when I did there was no click coming from the motor. If I flick the throttle, every 20 or so times the motor will g...

Re: bbs02 installation question

I have just intalled a BBS02 on a Giant Trance. Same problem with the lug for the bolt. I filed the metal down on an angle just enough to get the motor flush with the down tube. I also had to take off 1mm of the top of the lower RH swingarm bolt. May only be specific to the Trance, but something els...

Re: Samsung INR18650-29E C rate

From the em3ev site "These new cell types are the High Energy INR18650-29E (NCA Cell, 3C Max rated cell, with approx 2.8Ah nominal Capacity)", but on the same page (small triangle bat) it states "The 29E cell is 2C rated and we recommend a Max of closer to 1.5C.". As I said previously another site h...

I have Joes Slime in my tubes. I had a couple of thornes and a piece of glass so far, but the slime fills and seals the puncture in a second or two. Neat as!

wow nice build rolls! although most people use the giant dhs for the triangle space i think it gives the bike a nice look having that open. the kiwi front battery mount is a great piece as well! my guess is that the battery box most likely balances the bike out (with the motor in the rear)? what wa...

Re: Specialized H40, 1st Build

TC, have you contacted Grin about it? If they are having trouble with the new batch of controllers, maybe yours has a known issue. I sent another email to Grin asking how its going this morning, no reply yet. I placed the order for the controller five weeks ago. I'm going to buy a Lyen controller if...

Re: Specialized H40, 1st Build

What model controller is it? I've been waiting for a C7240-CN controller from Grin for weeks now. They sent the rest of the order to me, but keep pushing back the release date of the controllers due to "firmware problems". On the controller page of their web site the ETA for the controller is still ...
