Wind power is not reliable.
Locate the windmills in close proximity to the politicians. There will be no shortage of hot air.

Take the wheel back and demand that they tighten the spokes to 1000 newtons. That's the least they can do after charging you full price.

Well I ordered one as well but I ordered from ebay to be delivered via slow boat from china ... Re: portable air compressors for tires

or you could just choose the compressor you want and use a voltage converter:

The advantage of a 12 Volt is that you can steal power from a four wheeler in needed :D

Have you considered using a half-link chain and just making it the right length so that a tensioner is not required ?

Re: a storm is brewing on the mountain

For transportation to become a major factor in the ebike market expansion, some radical changes must happen in the western economy, social organization, and legislation. My personal 'radical change' came when the company I worked for over 30 years had their operations moved off-shore. I no longer n...

Re: a storm is brewing on the mountain

I think that there are three distinct market segments: 1) Recreational use 2) Ocasional Transportation 3) Primary Transportation As long as users and dealers regard e-bikes as being in group 1 or 2 they will never be a large market. If and when they come to be regarded as "primary transportation" th...

Re: Using bicycle's frame as heatsink for the Phaserunner

With such a low melting temperature, you'd want to make sure that the heatsink temp doesn't exceed the metal's melting point. I know that CPU heatsink temps on my workstations get to 80c at times. Shoot, just sitting outside in direct sunlight in AZ might cause that stuff to melt. I'd think you'd w...

Well I did manage to pull up some stamp markings on the steerer tube ... barely. Steerer Tube Stamping (798).jpg The "27.0" was what I was looking for. Unfortunately having measured 26.41 to 26.61 I was really looking for "26.4" With only 35 to 40mm of travel it is more aesthetics than functional su...

Re: a storm is brewing on the mountain

Recently noticed Sondors entry into the auto(?) market,.... I think? A $10,000 3-wheel 2-door 3-passenger E-model that offers a cheap and affordable alternative to currently offered full-size electric vehicles. No doubt hoping for the same success Volkswagen had enjoyed in the 60's. The People's Ca...

Re: Using bicycle's frame as heatsink for the Phaserunner

As an alternative to Drunkskunk's idea there are certain low melting point metals that might be of use: Wood's metal, Rose's metal https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wood%27s_metal This stuff is expensive ( about $16 per pound ) but I should think less than a pound would be required. https://www.rotometa...

Re: a storm is brewing on the mountain

You have good memory. I think I got my first 'full size' bike around 1963 . It was a used 3 speed 'English Racer' that I found in the B'ham Post want adds for $15 (from mowing lawns) . About all I can remember is that none of the wrenches ( except for the crescent wrench ) in my father's tool box fi...

I would question the logic of building rack that is significantly stronger than the bicycle frame to which it is mounted.

Re: a storm is brewing on the mountain

I am going to play the devil's advocate here ... A lot depends on what one needs in a bicycle or a E-bike. My "Grocery Getter" is arguably a BSO ( bike shaped object ). The tig welded aluminum frame is even a bit short for me if it was a normal bike that I had to pedal. Granted that in the conversio...

H'mmmm ... I do not know about Canada but in the US without a make, model and VIN it could be a real problem getting a tag for it.
I assume it is using direct gear reduction as it looks like too short a case for a CVT setup. Nice upgrade regardless.

Just ran across this thread and will toss in my devalued two cents worth: 1) Affirmative on decoupling the front weight from the steering. Years ago (as a teenager) I delivered papers on a bike with two big rear baskets and a front 'working' basket. We (my father's idea actually ---thank you and RIP...

Re: Patterson 2 speed

Stupid question: Is it possible (practical) to put a second chain ring on the bafang mid drive?
One might not require a derailleur but rather do a manual chain change for the appropriate range for a given ride.
