Re: Perfect donor?

Noted thanks I assume it has a little reduction gearbox with a centrifugal clutch? Would it be a 1 speed, or can it change gear like a moped? I assume if it has a gearbox, it is chain drive to the wheel? With a gearbox already there, how about not using a chain drive and run the out runner trough th...

Perfect donor?

I might've stumbled upon the best donor ever. 33cc moped/goped. Not sure about weight because it definitely won't be aluminum. Even if it may have sprocket and chains, the bigges joke is an outrunner will transfer more torque from standstill than that pencil sharpener motor. But still. There are guy...

Re: Scootabot

I get why aluminum is the chosen alloy. But with the difficulty of welding it, I often wonder if 1 mm thick mild steel lasercut template strategically folded would not provide enough rigidity. Sure welding thin ms isn't easy either but it can be done, not relying on specialized welders for the job. ...

Re: How to choose a motor for 16" scooter

Hi. I'm planning to build e-scooter based on Yedoo City. It has 16" front wheel, which will be driving. Total weight with me will be about 120 kg. What I'd like to achieve: - maximum speed - 40 km/h - comfortable speed - 25-30 km/h I'd like to use brushless geared hub motor for this project, becaus...

They've been around forever. Most of the time I've bought that kind of junky scooter stuff, it was from tncscooters.com because pricing has usually been better. But they're the real thing.
Thanks

Electricscooterparts.com

Hi all I realize that this might be a dumb one, but the search function didn't give results. Anyone had any dealings or experience with the company? It looks like they sell just about everything except Lipos. As well as spares for new and old escoots. Any references? Thanks Sent from my SM-G955F usi...

Re: "Monster Board" High power 4X4 board with ATV tires

That is a very, very good piece of work. Well done. Taken it rock crawling yet? My next comment is based on extensive 4x4ing, and having no experience with mountain boards. But i think you are going to miss the solid axle shaft. Rule of thumb is is good articulation lessens the need for diff lock. B...

Print your own wheels? Did I read that right? Yes you did. Obviously I don't know a lot about the forces acting on these wheels, and I lack a working knowledge of how 3d printing works. One of my colleagues does facial reconstruction for people with cancer damage to the jaw and scull. Also damage d...

Re: Mild steel motor mount/adapter

I believe you meant galvanic corrosion rather than erosion... Anyway... i use steel for my motormount without any issues. I would recommand to care of the quadratic momentum as far as stiffness is concerned I Don't know the difference between corrosion and erosion then you come with terms like quad...

Re: Mild steel motor mount/adapter

Good point I accept that. You could easily increase thickness.

But in principle. Anything wrong with using MS on Alu? Something like galvanic erosion due to electron flow between the metals?

Mild steel motor mount/adapter

I see all the motor mounts are made of aluminium. I guess it is because the trucks are aluminium? Would a 5mm mild steel plate laser cut to perfect fit on a Holey or a Caliber truck not work just as well? I understand it will not be weldable mounts since (I assume) Alu and MS can not be welded toget...

I am 6ft 3in. Tip scales 210lb
Plan to commute on rough pavement moderate inclines. Backpack with laptop will also weigh me down. Would like pneumatic wheels as well.

Sounds like some form of dual drive is needed

The orange frame some mild steel pipe? If it was me I would have redesigned the basic frame to have integrated mounting trays for the batteries below deck. Make it slightly wider. Re: all wheel drive

Don't want to hijack a thread, but it seem applicable.

For two wheel drive, does each motor need its own controller, or can two 500w motors run off a 1000w controller?
Separate battery pack, or same battery pack?
Can they at least share a throttle, or do those also have to be separate?
Thanks

Anybody have experience with them/their kits?
They are up for auction and start at very low prices.

As a concept: Cell configuration change during load

I am new at this and trying to get my head around all the technicalities. An idea I just had please correct me if I am wrong. If one can change the connection between groups of cells from parallel to series with a flick of a switch. For pull away to have low down torque, high amp draw at lower volta...
