Re: Best Value fast ebike for my commute?

You must remember that all those DD kits covinently forget about thermal protection. Say you have hilly commute , so you risk burning your motor every ride. There no way around it Controller need to read from motor to protect from oveheating . read motor temp outside of motor? If you dont burn motor...

Re: The trend of cities banning cars

I am not gonna argue with you why small houses are not build in NAmerica.
fact is that property taxes are based on sqfoots, right? heating bills, etc.
belive me
many people would live in small houses but developers dont build them, why?
because they make less money on them.

Ecovillage pioneers are either at odds with the law and risk having things torn down, or are forced into building overly large, energy wasteful compliant solutions though " couldnt agree more.. Re: Rebuilding battery pack

I had similar problems dismantling Chevy Volt battery modules.
first rule is to wrap with el. tape other nearby tabs when you work on any given tab.
I cut upper section of 2-cell tab simply with sheet metal cutter and forced the tabs apart.

so with this you have 3 shock absorbers.
for the cost of those shocks you could buy very good quality front wheel fork,
no wonder the idea never was never implemented in MTB for example

EV versus fossil vehicle expenses over say 5 years. I didnt write about depreciation, every vehicle looses value over time but about MAINTENANCE of EV versus ICE car. there are not myths there are facts. do you change oil on EV/ do you change oil filter on EV? do you replace gaskets because oil leak...

[quote=furcifer post_id=1512726 time=1574706457 user_id=62644] I think there's two important points to remember; gas is a business write off for a lot of truck owners and while towing capacity is important we all know how it kills range on EV's. we must remember that majority of pickup owners do NOT...

how to check condition of battery?
run discharge test, of course you need equipment namely battery analizer or do it with light bulbs as a load.
you should be able to calculate Ah or Wh on discharge.

Re: Battery pack made from several small modem packs.

modem packs are used, right? not new?
I would check every pack for weak cells
of course leave pieces of tabs welded to cells maybe like 1cm for future soldering.
packs are used and recycled for the reason. there is always weak cell or two in such pack.

Re: Is there such a thing as a wattmeter/ammeter with a sound voltage alarm?

it is complete different animal than celllog, because it uses shunt.
I for myself use CA with shunt for watts, Ah, WHr calculation.
however CA do not have any alarms.
I would not connect in series unknown quality shunt .
CA is rock solid and individually calibrated, shunt I trust.

of course EV will survive without subsidies.
all is nice and running on ICE car untill 100 000-150000 kilometers when all start to fall apart, leaks, belts, gaskets, you name it.
dropping oil all over the place.
