Re: Dog attack, I got sprayed with pepper spray, battery stolen

So a dog rang alongside you and barked (no attack), you accidentally sprayed yourself with pepper spray, you crashed because of the aforementioned and then while your bike was unattended your battery was stolen. Jesus dude, get your shit together. Sorry, short on patience due to current geo-politica...

Re: Vintage GT Palomar BBS02 basic build

Update time: Like most of the DIYers here, I periodically really enjoy putting my bike up on the rack and tinkering with it. Tonight was one of those nights. You drink a couple good beers, listen to some good music (Stick Figure on Spotify) and tinker on your beloved ebike out in the garage. As a hu...

Re: fixing flats..which brand?

I avoid all flats completely by spending a bit more on tires in the first place. I run Schwalbe Marathon tires and have not had a single flat in over 3000 miles.....

Re: Converting a beach cruiser with front wheel motor.

I paged through your build thread on your bike, very nice looking. I know the hub motors are cheaper, but for that three speed cruiser I would absolutely recommend a BBS02 mid-drive. That would allow him to keep the coaster brake (not correct, sorry), use all three gears and completely eliminate the...

Re: BBSHD - Creaking Sound

I own and maintain 2 BBS02 bikes. Any time I start hearing creaking I snug the crank bolts and tighten the locking ring on the bottom bracket shell. Prodigious amounts of red Loctite make these tightening intervals much longer.

Re: ebike build questions (BBS02)

Just my opinion, but enjoy the bike as you put things together. Add the motor/battery, then ride it for awhile. You may find (depending on your intended use) that the bike is perfectly enjoyable with the coaster rear brake. Have fun. 8)

Re: Specialized Levo vs BBSHD

I went into my favorite LBS the other day with my BBS02 powered Street Klunker (approx $900 for everything ready to ride). It's a Luna Cycles BBS02 so max output is about 1.3kW and the battery is a very peppy 12S 16aH Multistar series set-up. The guys at the shop know I'm into ebikes and wanted to s...

Re: ebike build questions (BBS02)

I have a 1300W BBS02 installed on a Dyno Moto 7 cruiser with a Nexus 7 IGH. It works beautifully, no chain alignment issues at all. Also, it seems to handle the power just fine, just don't shift under full power.

I'd been waiting for someone to do this exact build, thank you! As soon as I saw the Mongoose Envoy on KevCentral's YouTube channel I thought, "What a perfect bike for a BBSHD." Your bike is beautiful, and your install looks super clean.... I'm definitely following this post, don't want to miss upda...

Re: Vintage GT Palomar BBS02 basic build

So finally got a chance to take the GT trail riding today. Did about 10 miles on nearby dirt trails and experimented with using both PAS and throttle. This inexpensive used MTB with a BBS02 is the most fun trail bike I've ever ridden. With the RaceFace chainring, it climbed everything I pointed it a...

Nice build! How many teeth is your biggest rear gear? And why not place the battery pack in the frame triangle? Thank you SLoCo. Biggest rear gear is 34T, and I'm still trying out different battery options for this bike. Right now I've got the 14S pack in a backpack and I'm liking it, but putting i...

First impressions on a hardtail mounted BBS02.... My learning curve with ebikes has been an interesting one. My first one was a 2000W DD rear hub build that quickly went up to 3.6kW and was an absolute joy to ride. All throttle, all the time. 45+ mph, tire shredding, brake pad killing, spoke popping ...

Vintage GT Palomar BBS02 basic build

So my last build, a Dyno Moto 7 cruiser that became a BBS02 powered street klunker turned out exactly the way I wanted. It is user friendly for new e-bikers, PAS only and really comfortable. My oldest daughter loved it so much, it became her bike. This of course was the perfect excuse to build yet A...

The venerable Trek is currently partially disassembled. Had a problem with wiring up the new 90A controller and fried a hall sensor.

Re: Best rear tire for 26" DD hub motor

The best one I've found is the Schwalbe Marathon Plus HS 468 SmartGuard MTB Bicycle Tire. I put about 2200 miles on my last set on a DD running 3600W with ZERO flats. They're expensive ($45-$50 a tire), but worth it when you're not having to take off your rear wheel all the time. You can get it in t...

BBSHD vs. BBS02?

Good morning all, veteran ebiker here with a question. Is it really worth an extra $400 to go for a BBSHD over a BBS02 on a hardtail MTB that'll be used for trail riding? I have a BBS02 running at 48V on a Dyno Moto 7 Cruiser/BMX. It's great for cruising the neighborhood and bike paths. I run the st...

I haven't had anything but positive experiences with Luna, multiple orders over several years. Your post reads like a hit piece, especially given that it's the first post for that user name.
