Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

1. I get about 30 mph. 2. Hills are no problem because it has a mid drive that takes advantage of the gears but it's difficult to tell you how fast you'll go because that depends on the load and grade. 3. Derailleur hangers, extra battery. I wouldn't get the shift sensor. I don't like things that ca...

Re: Bafang M500/M600 thread

I wonder if it's because of a difference in programming or if Bafang introduced new limits. The battery came with an XT-90 connector, so I made an adapter for the XT-60 connector on the M600. The charging lead on the battery has a XT-60 connector on it. I really like these types of connectors. You m...

Re: Bafang M500/M600 thread

These are usually run with 13S packs that most people consider 48V (3.7 x 13 = 48.1V). People have been running 14S or 52V packs on Bafang drives for many, many years, so I see no reason against it. Here's my M600 at 52V.

Re: Bafang M500/M600 thread

Thanks :) Yeah, I thought about even spacing it out further or mounting it on the other side of the spider just to see what speeds a 52T might get me but I don't know if I want to space it out for regular use because of how it might affect the chainline. The reason the 11T is locked out is because i...

Re: Bafang M500/M600 thread

Here's the 42T on my X1. It is a little too close for comfort, so I'll probably run a 40T. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amzIyAd5pn8 You're right that the gearing is probably holding it back, but it might be good that it's geared this way because the point of any bike with a torque sensor is to be...

Re: Bafang M500/M600 thread

My Frey AM1000 (Ultra) weighs 12 lbs more than my Luna Cycle X1 (M600). The X1 definitely feels lighter when lifting it and riding it. When I put a 52V battery in my otherwise stock X1, it went 28 MPH, 3 MPH faster. When I put a 42T chainring on it (definitely not too big for mountain-biking, in fac...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

If you want to haul a heavy load, a Cyclone 3000 is much more powerful. See that trailer train in my profile pic? Cyclone 3000 :) I tried to pull it using a BBSHD with a 30T chainring to a 42T in the cassette, but it would not pull it up the hill that the Cyclone 3000 had no trouble with. You're not...

Luna Cycle has developed a quiet gear for the M600. Sounds as quiet if not quieter than the BBSHD under load. I ordered one yesterday, so I'll report my findings.

I'm hoping it brings more interest in the brand. While doing my own research into E Bikes it was this thread ...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

They make a mount for that size. http://sickbikeparts.com/3000w-hd-mount/ I would think that if you straighten it, it would be too long. Hi when installing the cyclone 3000 on a bike with wider bottom bracket, can you just straighten the bent (thin non-chain drive side) mounting bracket to make it f...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

Yes, Gman has done it and posted about it. He got it up to 90A. Hi there, curious if anyone here has experience shunt modding the stock 40amp 3000w controller? Would be nice to get up to 60amps. Maybe just adding solder to the base of the two shunts? Any insight be much appreciated! New member here ...

Thanks! And someone said to use a chain whip to hold the chainring while loosening. I don’t know why that didn’t occur to me, haha.

Re: FREY eMTB with Bafang m600 is developing with your ideas!

I just installed a 42T chainring on my X-1, and I can confirm that the pedal assist on the M600 does not stop at 25mph. In fact, I got it up to 30mph on flat ground using pedal assist (no throttle). https://youtu.be/amzIyAd5pn8 My experience is that the pedal assist cuts out at 40kph (25mph). It wil...

Re: FREY eMTB with Bafang m600 is developing with your ideas!

Actually, it appears they were too quick to assume that a speed limit existed for the pedal assistance. Michael has shown that he can activate the assist as high as 30mph. It seems that people weren't pedaling hard enough. https://electricbike.com/forum/forum/knowledge-base/bikes-aa/93790-luna-x-1-e...

The speed limit varies depending on who you buy it from. Maybe you can ask Frey to see if they can have it programmed to 56mph.

I've read the bafang M600 is governed at 28 mph and there is no way to override factory lock through the display. Is this accurate?

Error 21 is a speed sensor error, so it should go away when you have it on your bike. I just tried spinning the crank, waiting 15 seconds, manually inputting speed via magnet and still if I'm not "moving" I don't think the throttle works for long, in a few seconds I get Error 21. I'll have to see ho...
