A switch for shortening throttle

What do you think of installing an additional switch that will shorten the throttle for cruising at full power?

It could be also equipped with a large linear potentiometer for having a precise manual cruising speed adjustment.

Anyone tried it?

Re: Critique this 3D Printed Battery - 14S10P 29E

I'd use 2-3 RC chargers like imaxb6. You can do each time a balance charge if you split the pack into 3 and you can skip bms. You're right, bms for new 29e cells is not so much a need if you monitor voltages. Make a thick (a few A capable) balance wires on each level and get them to a place, where y...

Re: Without BMS

I've been using recycled laptop cells for the whole season right now. My setup has a bestechpower BMS 16s. Pack is 13p. The BMS is completely not needed in my opinion. I always charge at home or work, being nearby. I also stop charging before the BMS enters the balancing mode (it is designed for lip...

Re: Keyed on/off switch for security?

I bought a cheapest key switch available online ca. 1-2$ delivered. It has a very simple "round" key with just one tooth. With infineon EB318 works perfect. I even lower a step down converter directly from it to power lights and a cell phone charger. The only drawback is that you need to put the key...

Re: Spot Welding Copper Strips to 18650 Battery Cells

That technique can work well- but it is less consistent bc the electrodes are on different surfaces... and once you've popped the nickel on, you can't access the cell. And you have to do twice as many welds and it heats the can more. That's what slotting is for. K I tried this way on mine MOT half ...

Well it's a news for me. I hope I didn't do many welds in the middle of cells in my pack.

Re: Spot Welding Copper Strips to 18650 Battery Cells

At this point, I still think the most practical solution is Ni plated Copper 110 foil because Copper 110 is available in many thicknesses. If using the parallel resistance spot welders, you need to make a slit in the foil to force current downwards to the foil-cell interface. The Ni plating may cre...

Re: Can I fit a freehub on a hub motor threads?

I have a Nine Continent RH2806 motor with a place to put 8 or 9 gears cassette. I don't know if 10 is wider than that or not, but if not, than here you have a possible solution. I had 3x9 but I decided to stay on 1x9 after few e-bike mode rides.

Re: Simple range extender for Bestechpower BMS (and other al

Ok, I thought it's a common problem, that's why I started the thread. Regarding high range. Pretty often I drive distances of something like 40 km one way, and then I need to come back. Because many factors influence the range of the bike (eg. peddling force, wind, SOC before the trip), it may happe...

Semi hybrid system

Hi guys, I can't find any information on such a system: What about separation of the electric system from the engine in a regular petrol car. Description in points: 1. Remove the belt from the alternator. 2. Add a pretty large Li-ion pack, 4S at least (CA. 14V) 3. start engine from the standard lead...

The subject of copper has come up dozens of times and the discussion always comes back to pure nickel. While ES has been the source of many great discoveries I think this has horse has been beaten to a pulp. Nickel just works. Has anyone considered brass? Roughly the same conductivity as ...

Re: Simple range extender for Bestechpower BMS (and other al

Feeling completely not understood here... But ok, guys, you can monitor, plan and etc. I just wanted to have something that prevents my stupidity of using too much amps when the battery is almost empty, causing the BMS to cut off, when the battery sags too much. Adding another 16s string to my pack?...

Re: Infineon controller stopped reacting to throttle input.

I had similar thing when my battery circuit unsoldered itself. It had only a single point contact, so when I got on the bike, not more than maybe 1A was flowing. This gave very little power to the wheel. After lifting the wheel it was rotating with ca. 50% normal speed. Repairing the bad solder help...

I have the same on nine continent infineon EB318 controller. Fortunately I have a possibility to program 3 favorite speeds and I use a 3 p...

Simple range extender for Bestechpower BMS (and other also)

Hi, I have an 16S Li-ion system with Bestechpower HCX-D131 BMS system in 16S version. The device has standard BMS functionalties, especially protects the battery from overdischarging during use. This means if you run out of juice, it cuts off the system and you can't run the motor until you connect ...

Just guessing, maybe you'll find somewhere information on the temperature related mAh capacity of Li-ion cathodes or anodes? This should be in some scientific papers of li-ion developing research centers. But never searched.

Re: Quick 18650 question.

I don't see a problem with cells at 2 V. It's important to check if they heat up during normal charging (with a rate you plan to use) and discharging. Standard laptop cell that you are looking for should be completely cold at 1 A charge and discharge and holds min. ca. 80% of its original capacity.

Infineon EB318 stopped working. Power supply failure?

Hi guys. I've been riding a 60V (16S) system with infineon EB318 and 9C motor for ca. 2 months. It was awesome until last week, when I tried to upload new settings to the controller, and during this operation, some pins of the programming cables probably have touched each other. Then I tired to uplo...
