Well OK. But if we all somehow get sucked into a black hole or something I'm gonna be pissed.

Re: Mini Cyclone Motor RPM

Right I got that bit and to be perfectly honest I have ZERO experience with these motors, so for all I know the thing really could be screaming its guts out at 8k+ rpm, but that just doesn't sound right to me. What I'm saying is that, hypothetically, if you had a 44/44t crankset with one chainring b...

Re: Mini Cyclone Motor RPM

No, you must have dilated the space/time continuum somehow. I keep telling people to be more careful with their cellphones. No one listens. If you had, say, a 44t chainring driving an 11t rear sprocket at a ratio of 1 to 4, a 268 rpm at the cranks would net you 1072 rpm at the wheel which would be l...

Re: Best solder for shortening cables? (PAS, Motor etc)

That seems like a fairly astute appraisal. Interesting point about thermal mass. I put together a battery pack a while back using a 100 watt soldering iron with a pretty sizable chisel tip and while it went alright I kind of felt like another 40 or so watts of heat would have been nice. Having said ...

Re: Best solder for shortening cables? (PAS, Motor etc)

That right there is some good advice that I was previously completely ignorant of. Thanks izeman. +1 on staying away from cheap ebay solder. I want my $2.49 back. Don't know why you need to source out your solder on amazon though; just pop into her majesty's radioshack or whatever have you. It's not...

Re: Pack build: Sewer Pipe Dynamite Roll

Check this out. I originally tried for a different, more friendly six pack configuration, but this is the shape the cells wanted to go for. flower-consciousness copy 19 circles.jpg cci19.gif And this poor bastard has it all figured out... http://hydra.nat.uni-magdeburg.de/packing/cci/cci19.html

Pack build: Sewer Pipe Dynamite Roll

Well, for my first pack build I thought I'd make things as difficult as possible for myself so I decided to go with a cylindrical pack using a 4" PVC pipe as a container. Wow. Ok, here goes... Re: Sensored or sensorless controllers?

Holy cow. Pretty good turn around time on the replies for a 6 year old thread, guys. Thanks. One thing I'm a little unsure of now is whether or not a person can run a hub motor backwards at full speed (perhaps using the freewheel side of a DD motor to drive the LEFT side of the rear wheel, for examp...

Re: Sensored or sensorless controllers?

It was actually my understanding that sensorless motors *needed* to have a bit of rolling momentum before throttle could be applied. As such, I'm kind of at a loss as to how a geared hub motor with an internal freewheel can operate sensorless at all...

Re: The Mid Drive Hub Motor Media Group

That's pretty wicked. I've been thinking of something along the same lines for some time.. I like how you didn't have to drill all the way through the side plate to get everything locked in place. Looks like you've got enough axle left that you could fit one of those dinky 12t freewheels so you coul...

Re: how much regen is too much for the battery

I still myself attracted to the idea of a mid drive setup with a DD hub in back to be used as a "coaster brake", particularly on long descents when heavily laden. The amount of current to the battery could be regulated by a rheostat and a big ass resistor if needed.

From the Ruff Cycles web site: "PORUCHO - Toot-f***ing-Toot...imagine yourself as a young storm trooper swaggering that thing at walking pace down Hollywood Boulevard with a fine female spread legged on roller skates over the back wheel grabing firmly with both hands to your oiled up trapezius muscl...

Re: Mystery Bafang Motor.

Probing a little deeper seems to reveal that this is quite likely one of the first incarnations of the BPM motor. Also it just occurred to me, having not too long ago "crossbroken" an earlier model REAR BPM, that it did indeed have a rather oversized stator carrier [EDIT: side cover] bearing, just a...

@Markz I'll have to catch up with you on that another time. I'm all over the idea of mid mounted hub motors these days. @MrNotEnglish You could try asking this guy if his bracket will fit the 1016 you have. But doesn't yours come with a foot welded on with four bolt holes? If so, just use U bolts me...

There doing something similar out here too. Minus the electric assist, but minus the docking stations too.

I made an account on alibaba just so I could ask about it. No response yet but they want to see my 'business card' and I don't know wtf I'm doing.

It is kinda cool though, huh. Just like in the drawings but nothing like anyone actually ever has.
