Re: KTM 200 exc goes electric

Regarding the rear sprocket, could you make it a two piece? Where the center part is hi grade aluminum and is mounted on the hub, and the steel outer part of the sprocket - the part with the teeth bolts onto the inner part? I remember the first big brake kits that where available for hi powered cars...

Re: Rieju 50cc conversion

Yeah size matters :-) or so I've been told. Anyhow, don't be afraid, I am an old man not getting any younger, you might tackle the foil thingy much faster. And who knows, if I had more time to play around, I might have cracked to foil code and figured out how to ride it. Make sure you get enough pow...

Re: Rieju 50cc conversion

Well it's the right time for an e-foil now, enjoy the water, enjoy the summer and make time to fly across the water as much as possible this summer. Been thinking of ways to make an jet board/e-wake board/surf board without finding the right solutions. Ready made's are selling for 10 000 + USD. Way ...

Re: A Couple Newbie Questions About Building An E-Scooter

If this was my project I would look for used bargain stand up scooters. Or even go balls deep and make it yourself for true lightweight stand up scooter. Imagine you lugging that thing up and down the stairs in your building, several times a day maybe. As fun as those are to ride for 5 minutes I am ...

Re: SilentEnduro conversions

Not really sure what you are asking but I will try to answer my best. Both the 205 and the 138 can perform much more the the rated 3000 w. The 205 is often seen as a hub motor but it can be used as a mid engine too. One bike that uses a hub motor in a mid motor setup is the Vortex from Vector ebike....

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Torp claims it is 29kg https://www.torpmotors.com/torp_bike/?et_fb=1&PageSpeed=off How do you get from a Light Bee at 50kg, go to 15kW and lose 21kg? Did they weigh it without the battery? Must be a very light weight frame, swing arm and maybe a light weight RC motor? Sur ron frame is about 7 kilo,...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Orlov got his hands on a nice looking e-moto a few weeks ago.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mhMqbLZ8zM seems like a very fair review. Gotta say, the suspension on the surron does leave something to be desired. does well enough but the front end is already sticking somewhat, and never feels quit...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

KTM E-XC is heavy at 245lbs. I have a Zero FX but like the Sur-Ron much better on tight single track trails because of the light weight, power isn't everything. And I've had KTM's, 360 2 stroke and 640 ADV. Better suspension and more power than the FX but electric wins for me. A new entry is the Ub...

Re: Sur ron x black edition

Well unless you got nothing but time and can spend time picking up bargains at sales or you could fabricate much yourself to be honest for the price of the Sur Ron you will be hard pressed to find a competitor. If you have a garage full of tools, and various e-bikes bits and bobs, like wheels, suspe...

Re: Denzel 72v 4-spd Gearbox Build 125cc Dual Sport

its just very odd how reduced the performance was when it reached its thermal limit, almost like the magnets had no energy left in them
That could very well be the case, maybe motor got too hot and the magnets got de-magnetized?

Still confused too, and I don't think that this is a good thing, two people claiming the design to the same bike. Especially since the video's of the revx seems to show a very capable e-motobike. Maybe people get confused and don't know who to trust or where to order from? I don't know the whole sto...

Re: Trial riders need their clutch?

I've been riding motorcycles, mx bikes for the better part of my life, for more the 25 years. And I still ride e-bikes, liter bike, and an older mx bike set up for "enduro trials", light off road like gravel roads, single tracks and some moderate technical riding up steep stuff etc. So I've spend so...

Re: Trial riders need their clutch?

Yeah I got that was a universal truth for gas powered trials bike. There have been electric trials bike out for few years without clutch, oset bikes comes to mind. And even the first e-Motion bikes had no clutch, so when manufacturer adds clutch and flywheel weights that can be swapped then clutch m...

well the old motor (BHT) was small enough to fit between the pivots. it was an attempt at compartmentalization so i could treat the drivetrain+swingarm as separate. this being my first ever frame design as well as first ever serious welding project did some welding today: https://endless-sphere.com...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

tire fitting on the rim versus fitting into the front fork width are two different things of course.. >2.75 - 3"+ may not fit in the fork depending on how the manufacturer measures tire width.. Thats a good point Natas, I can fit, some forks, due to design, can't fit a a 3.25 tire. Some can. This i...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

The reason you get less control with the nuclear controller is that the throttle works like this when using phase amps to control the motor. When you twist your throttle it will give you a voltage range. From about 1 volts to 5 volts, the more you twist it the voltage rises from 1 volt to 5 volts. ...

Ok, well that is nice. That kind of strategy has been used with great success in the tech world and IT for 20 odd years. Don't know much about Yamaha yet. But it seems at least one of their bikes are already racing in EU. Or could you even say racing when it comes to trails bike? :D For me racing ha...

Seems Yamaha is also putting out an electric trials bike, the TY-E. Also the electric one from Yamaha has a clutch.
Hm. Maybe I should just get the E-motion 2020 trials bike and start practicing and learning the game of trials?

Re: Observed trials bike designing

You could even theoretically cheat and implement traction control if you had precise enough sensors of wheel speed and load. I have often thought it would be cool to make the throttle output to the controller the sum total of a rising and falling voltage from the throttle and a fake clutch lever (n...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

That about the strangest controller review I ever read. You complain about mounting and wiring? Not plug n play? Have yo swapped controllers before? This is how it goes. It's no stress, it is the way it needs to be. One controller can not magically mount directly into all stock mounting holes on all...
