Re: 19" Motorcycle Wheels vs 26" Bicycle Wheels (rim and tires)

That will be one heavy rear wheel, the weight alone kind of dictate the tire choices. You need the added layers and stronger side walls from a motorcycle/mx tire to have a longer tire life. I know some will say you save weight by choosing bicycle tire, but as heavy as your wheel is already the weigh...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

A Domino throttle should work fine but will need a couple of resistors to make the output in the same range as a hall. The microswitch is not really needed. Over a long time, these had a track record of wearing out. There may be some decent quality hall effect twist throttles out there that would b...

Re: Mobipus Controllers

Thinking about this a bit more... I have a digital watch good down to 200 meters. I took it apart about a year ago out of curiosity. There was no coating on the components at all. The ONLY protection was the seals in the watch case. Based on that Casio watch, I'd say that even conformal isn't neede...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I actually do have bark busters or hand guards from my 1st Qulbix build I could use, but the problem is that they really make the bike look like a dirt bike and it may increase the chances of getting bothered by police and I think people may also get more mad in the places I ride because they think...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

More messing around with Sur Ron on 20S 100A, ASI controller. Hm. From the look of it on the video you can see the power output got a huge jump up to 6.5kw. But to raise the speed seems to take a while? What is the pants in the seat feeling about mid range acceleration with 20s? Any more kick or ju...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

BTW. how do you ride in the winter without having your fingers freeze? Gloves don't seem to help for long. Congrats on your new bike, I am sure you eventually will squeeze more power from this, modding or tweaking. For riding in the cold I find there is only one solution on any bikes or even snowmo...

Re: Mobipus Controllers

Don't know how it is with Fet's and other controller components. But from the pc and server world they got different quality on CPU's from the same batch. Maybe it is like that for controller components too? What I am thinking of is that if you buy the higher rated components before putting together...

Well look what Santa just delivered... I didn't shake the box but I think there might be a new Sur Ron X in there! http://www.backyardlivingsource.com/blsguest/jq/surron-x.jpg Don't trust santa, he is old and grumpy. Re: SURRON LB: RESEARCH & DEVELOPEMENT

Hey if you can shoe horn that wheel and tire in place great. Should you see any rubbing you could "shave" part of the most sideways knobs, just slightly so you got clearance. Will look bad ass with such a wide tire. And the sidewall height was nice too, should make for smooth ride.

Re: BRD RedShift electric motorcycles

Hard to tell, most parts are not Alta specific and those can easily be replaced. Controller, bms, and motor might be harder. We don't know yet. But worst case, say a melted controller or a motor burns, it will not be the end of world for you, and the bike will not be useless. Just replace with decen...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Offroader you will notice the difference between hub and mid, and you will be surprised by how much better a mid drive handles big dumps and whoops. As for moto front wheelor vs lighter bicycle front wheel many will say it is a big difference, for me not big enough to ride with bicycle wheel as they...

Anyone know the status on Alta at this time? Did anyone buy em, did they find investors or are they fighting bankruptcy?
I really hope Alta will continue to live on and keep evolving.

I totally agrre AW. There ain't no sure tomorrow as long as they continue to use this practice. Controller can be a dead brick before winter is over and all your hard earned money sunk into the controller will be lost.

Re: Mobipus Controllers

Ok, I might have gone overboard in the rant about this. Lets see what the official mobipus says about this. If the time slot is not for all settings or if it is possible to make changes to controller no matter if you are online/offline have swapped motor or whatever I guess it is not all as bad as I...

Re: Mobipus Controllers

Well at least I was wrong on that part, good thing they are not charging money for the time slots. But still, all this risk for future changes is in the hand of the buyer, and the controller can be a dead brick if future software changes are not possible to do due to whatever reason. And that is not...

Re: Mobipus Controllers

Apologies for the OT below: FWIW, this type of thing very strongly irks me partly because I have a fair bit of software (mostly for music and sound creation, much of it supposedly intended for professional studio / composer usage) that is unusable for this reason. The companies either don't exist a...

a one hour ticket from the factory ? Re: KDX 20.0 cells trailbike conversion

Many owners of dirt bikes are running those non-stall clutches from ie rekluse. If RPM drops too low, the clutch is automatically disengaged. So if you ride tight trails and drop your bike it will not stall. Never owned those kits but I've tested one a few years back and it was actually great for te...

Re: KDX 20.0 cells trailbike conversion

Don't know much about gokarts but that clutch look like the primary on a snowmobile or even sxs's? Wouldn't that need to be couple'd to a secondary clutch as well with a belt between em? As I said don't know nothing about gokarts but on snowmobiles we have a primary with arms and weights that shifts...

Re: Nucular electronics - complete kit for ev! [beta]

Hm ok so automatic setup will use hall sensors by default not only to start motor but during all RPM of the motor? Reason I ask is that some motors got, well less then accurate hall sensor placement. I think you mentioned it will also work with encoders, and from what I've read here a while back enc...
