Re: Electric Surf Board

Hi Guys, I haven't been here for a long time. I was so busy meantime and I didn't have enough time to my electric surf. Project stays as it is, it rides but it was a little slow, battery last only 15min. and so on. For this season I decided to rebuild the surf for something more compact and light. I...

Re: Electric Surf Board

Hi,

PICAXE microcontroller generate the input signal for BLDC motor controller, and receive the signal from remote controller, also
controlling all other function like motor, esc and water temp, safety leash etc.

Re: Electric Surf Board

Hello, first test on water is done. New 120A HV controller with little modifications works fine. Battery pack for test is 12s 10Ah LiPo pack, average voltage is 45V. The plan for future is 14S 30Ah LiPo or LiIon pack max. voltage near 58V. With 12s 10Ah configuration is the riding time about 7min/fu...

Re: Electric Surf Board

Hello, here is a result after 2 sec on the water. Burned Turnigy dlux 80A speed controller. I don't know what happened, last year I take few rides with this configuration with no issues. Now I ordered a new RotorStar 120A HV 14S. If this controller is being failed I spend the money for one of 150A K...

Re: Electric Surf Board

Hi, the board is about 245cm long, and 61cm width. Yes, all electronics and batteries is in custom waterproof boxes with double rubber seal. I made proportional wireless controller also mounted in to custom waterproof box. The board is controllable from local control slider in front or remotely. All...

Re: Electric Surf Board

Hello folks, here's a little teasing about my second esurf prototype. Not yet tested on the water, next week I do first tests on the water. I use my smartphone. Put in to the Aquapac waterproof pocket and run one of GPS speedometer application.

Re: Electric Surf Board

Hello dirkdiggler, I think, the 200$ for good planetary gearbox is good prize. I got mine for 300 EUR, and it still good prize. In previous version of my attempt I use cheap Chinese planetary gearbox bought from Ebay and the result is below: http://img15.rajce.idnes.cz/d1501/10/10236/10236794_36472c...

Re: Electric Surf Board

Then you must have around 500kv motor if you have a 44V power source. Your 45 kv motor can't take enough rpm to drive the torqeedo prop at 1300 rev. with this gearbox.

Re: Electric Surf Board

Today evening I do next test ride with not fully charged battery pack. The max speed measured with GPS is only 18 - 20 km/h. I am little dissatisfied :-( But there is a way for further development. I don't know how much is a power consumption because my newly bought cheap HK power meter is faulty. I...

Re: Electric Surf Board

OK, guys. Here is a short video about my electric surfboard testing. I don't measure the speed maybe next time. The 5Ah battery is not enough, at full speed is the ride time only 3-5 mins. Next step, buy more lipos from HK and enjoy the ride. Yep, I need grips and friction pads on top the board beca...

Re: Electric Surf Board

At this time I don't make any foil shaped shell for the square leg. This is only prototype, if the concept will be reasonable then all this stuff on top side of board will be mounted in to the surf body. The motor will be mounted like Water..wolf (no leg or something), of course I made a safety ring...

Re: Electric Surf Board

Hello guys, I made some progress about my electric surf board. I used an old Torqeedo housing. Replace the faulty motor and repair the gearbox. Tomorrow I want to try on the water, but we have bad weather it's only 16celsius and water must by cold. Some pistures with comments here: http://www.rajce....

Re: Electric Surf Board

The controller is been cheap HK sensorless. I measured the current on loaded motor with air prop. The loaded motor take about 10A, if i put the alu tube around the rotor the motor take 10,2A This is only 200mA, i think it is negligible. What about bigger motor with big load, i don't know this shows ...

Re: Electric Surf Board

An outrunner running inside an aluminum case is a guaranteed fail. The magnets moving next to the aluminum turn it into an eddy current heating element. I don't get wanting to put any outrunner sealed in a tube. Outrunners need air flow to cool. Yes the tube is water cooled, but the air between the...

Re: Electric Surf Board

Hello guys, I'm new on the forum. I tried to create electric surfboard like a Waterwo...lf before I find this forum. OK, the first poor man setup (work only 10 second on full throttle). - BLDC motor NTM 35-48/900kv (spare from an old project) - 70A ESC -4s1p 5000mAh Lipo pack -1:6 planetary reductio...
