Re: E-S Stealth Electric Bike Owners

As recommended by Rix, I run a Shinko SR241 at about 10 PSI on a narrow 19" moto rim. With Tubliss. It just clears the chain on my Fighter. It's awesome. Initially I was concerned about the additional unsprung weight and negative handling. But it has a huge benefit to handling because the fat sponge...

Re: Oil cooling your hub- NOT snake oil!

Thanks for the info! Only issue with castor oil is the viscosity in cold. It can get -20C around here so best option is still to use normal Mobil1 synthetic car oil or AT-oil? Wow, -20 air temps! Yeah, too cold for castor. If not ferro-fluid, then you better use a mineral oil. Just a bummer because...

Re: E-S Stealth Electric Bike Owners

Is there a setting in the DC1 that only allows charging up to 90%...? Otherwise, I'm not sure how I can manage "consistent" charges to 90% with a timer, unless I dial the 3 hours back to an hour or so...? If you know the cell type (max volts per cell), nbr cells in series and the charged volts for ...

Re: Oil cooling your hub- NOT snake oil!

So what do you think, if I seal the cover seam with silicone, drill a small hole and put some AT-oil inside? No need to open the motor while cooling and rust-proofing is provided easily. I use castor oil in my H4040 motor. No odour like ATF and much easier to clean away any leaks. The process to se...

Re: E-S Stealth Electric Bike Owners

I take it your hub has breath holes in with regards to you saying sealing the hub beforehand? My hub does not have any breath holes in not sure if that is a good thing or not ? Also spinning the rear wheel unloaded it Maxs out at 74kph (44mph) to be honest on videos I've seen they max out the to th...

Re: E-S Stealth Electric Bike Owners

With regards to oil in the hub in the stealth manual is says spray crc 5-56 into the hub but there is no hole I can find to do this???? Sorry for all the questions if you haven't already gathered I'm a new be to electric bikes. Questions are fine. Shoot away. There are so many about these bikes. I ...

Re: E-S Stealth Electric Bike Owners

As I started to remove the back wheel I noticed in the large metal connector under the bike that the sleeve had come off one of the small wires inside the connector so I cleaned it out repaired the sleeve and we are now back in action. Great you found the problem! When I first started riding my Fig...

Re: E-S Stealth Electric Bike Owners

Thanks for the response. Took it for a good ride today everything was great until I was on my way home approximately 30% power remaining so I used the regain button which made a loud thud in the hub now the hub won't spin , if I turn it off the on again it gets to spin thus then Nothing?? Greatful ...

Re: E-S Stealth Electric Bike Owners

Emmett, I'm sure the all axle motor will be made available to suit the rear end too. It's just a different side cover away OK great. I'll watch that space. I'd guess that a bath of ATF will lube gears better than any gel grease. Also Dex-VI TF is low viscosity and a very good lube. It's an excellen...

Re: E-S Stealth Electric Bike Owners

As CD said, I've been loving LiPo brick power (Multistars) for some time now. Maybe a year. 18S2P setup. So 75V. Very good energy for the weight and volume. I run the 6S balance lead for each brick to outside the frame head so I can monitor each one for good health, and after about 35 cycles they ar...

Re: E-S Stealth Electric Bike Owners

The hubs are just about 4.3kg. Cooling is passive but usually you munch the composite plastic gears before you'll burn the windings. 2kw is the max you can run in them unless you're very gentle. ~1500w is much better for longevity. I think the new grin all axle DD hub motor is an interesting one fo...

MAC 10 with 9fets 4110 Fet controller running 4 6S 20000Mah Multistars with 2 banks in series and 2 parallel. Basically a 50 volt 20AH lipo pack HOC. Packing a whopping output of 33amps and not volt sag. For what it is, which its a lower powered light weight trail slayer, its fun. Sounds great Rix....

Re: E-S Stealth Electric Bike Owners

I know some of you use Castor Oil. But since I live in a country that has the population of a medium sized US town and Castor Oil is very difficult to get hold of here. What other options have you guys used with god results? Compressor oil would work OK. ATF is better. Since it's thinner. If you ha...

Rix, thanks. That BermMaster tread pattern does indeed look a bit suspect. A big variation in the amount of edges and knob surface with different lean angles.

Tom, 70 MPH is nuts!

Re: E-S Stealth Electric Bike Owners

I also tried a 26" on the front for about a day. Didn't like it at all. Totally messed up the geometry and feel of the bike. I didn't do anything with the rear to compensate, so that may have been part of it, but it just felt so weird I couldn't deal with it. CD, Thanks. Did you bottom out the fron...

Re: E-S Stealth Electric Bike Owners

If one day someone finds a 24x3" MTB tire which is good on hard dirt, then please let us know. Has anyone fit a 26" MTB front wheel in a Fighter?? I thinking the tire choices are far broader. But I suspect a 26" tire would touch my controller upon fork bottom out. To retain bike front to rear balanc...

Rear yes. Front I don't think so. Knobs look to have a higher land/sea ratio. But perhaps that's an illusion because of the wear.

What front 24" MTB tyre is that? Looks like it might be good for hard dirt and much longer lasting than a Razorback.

A side stand which is mounted as unsprung weight doesn't seem right for trail riding. But I assume other options are very limited.

Re: E-S Stealth Electric Bike Owners

managed to hit 88kph on my HS4080 now....insanely fast! I would suggest upgrading those 14awg wires outside the axle. Through the axle, yeah you need to size down, but for the run from the axle to the controller, the bigger the better for those wires. 88km/h is crazy. I like my bike's low speed acc...

Re: Definitive Tests on the Heating and Cooling of Hub Motor

A working fluid is not about how well heat moves from one side of the static working fluid to the other side of the static fluid (it's datasheet thermal resistance value). A working fluid is about how much you can get it to wet onto hot places and then wet onto cooler places to transfer energy. Ver...
