Re: Seeking Dexter/Torqueboards/DIY

From my 2 or 3 experiences with Dexter fro DIY I had to do the same as you, post my request on a forum in order to get a response. And then he took care of me but I was very aggravated at that point and will never buy that junk again. I buy from APS and ADS and find waiting for the shipment from U.K...

Re: My experience buying from DIY, APS and ADS

I have waited over a month past his move. He just won't reply to email. It's so frustration to shoot a video of the problem and then compress it for email and then write a long email, proofing it for clarity and shortening it to minimize his time only to be fricken ignored. It's happened so many tim...

My experience buying from DIY, APS and ADS

I started this thread as a DIY complaint but wrote a little more about other experiences I've had. I hope it helps you guys. I purchased TorqueBoards 12S 120A Car ESC OPTO HV for a single motor setup and have not yet been able to get it working properly. I am on the second ESC. The first one was fau...

This is how I mounted the balance plug and xt60 plugs to the case. It is JB quick epoxy. To make the opening I drilled holes and then used a file to finish it. Then I held it in place with super glue and then the epoxy. Very strong.

Re: My fourth build. Fastest, safest and most reliable.

Yes I was intending to do just that but cut the hole too large and had to go to plan B.

Here are a couple of my older builds with the watt meter more flush mounted.

It seems that the axle on Caliber trucks isn't long enough to use the correct spacer on the drive wheel. I flip the nut around but not sure how effective that is.

Re: Charging a 10s lipo with a 6s charger?

You can charge through the balance wire if you take it easy on the amperage. A 10s balance connector will have 11 terminals/pins. to charge the first 5 cells you need to connect your negative charger lead to pin 1 and the positive to pin 6. To charge the last 5 cells you need to connect the negativ...

Re: Charging a 10s lipo with a 6s charger?

A six cell charger would only work if you broke the pack in half 2 sets of 5s balance leads and 2 sets of main connectors and then use a loop key to get the 10s configuration. I would try get another charge than cut the pack up and split it into 2 5s cells as charging times will double and much mor...

Charging a 10s lipo with a 6s charger?

I blew my 10s icharger and need to charge my APS 10s battery using my my 6s charger. The balance leads are set up with 1 10s balance connector and the main leads are the combined parallel packs together in just the 1 positive and 1 negative leads. Do I need to use the main leads to charge or can I A...

@longhairedboy- it is comforting to know that I am not the only one inflicted with this e-skateboard fanaticism. I've had it for 15 years straight, since the x-24 first generation board. I just keep waiting and waiting for the masses to catch on to the absolute joy of riding one of these. In my opin...

Re: My Build

Hi Wayno, the wattmeter logs info like max amps you drew since it was last turned off. It cycles through a few metrics like that. Once you switch the board off it resets. The board stays pretty cool. But I have blown out the UBEC two times. The last time it blew out I just hooked a 4 pack of AA batt...

Actually I probably got more helpful info from the guy at DIYelectricskateboard.com and I am not just saying that. That website has lots of good info and very articulate writing. Re: My Build

Hi, thanks for your input. Regarding the dual motor braking issue I had, the problem was the programming. Re: My Build

I don't want to discourage sales for APS or ADS (alien power system / alien drive systems) but a single motor setup is way more power than I needed and I ride fast and uphill and I weigh 185 lbs. i still haven't opened up the throttle all of the way and don't plan on it either. Save your money.

Balance charging issues with new 10s battery

Hi, I have an APS Alien Power System 10s 10,000mah 30c lipo battery that I cant seem to balance. I have used it just a couple of times but it has never balanced even on the first charge.

Here is the reading I am currently getting:

[The extension mov has been deactivated and can no longer be displayed.]

Do you think that I have a charger problem?

Re: Help with Alien ESC wiring

Thanks for that info! I am tempted to just use one of those simple pull out connectors that put a break in the negative instead of the 4 wire anti spark switch. Because most of the other builds I've been looking have that and seem so simple. Looking at how many wires it would appear that I need to r...
