Re: Kelly KLS 7218-M Identification not working

The pole setting doesn't affect this. I think your controller most likely has issues but would still recommend to disconnect everything not needed and try again and also measure the continuity from phase connections through motor for all the phase combinations and check the connection points on cont...

Re: Kelly KLS 7218-M Identification not working

Ah, i didn't mean to touch the internals. What i mean is the connections to motor from controller. If there is a mistake there which causes a broken connection then it would probably show on the controller through the auto id error code. Motor could also be having a short circuit internally causing ...

Re: Kelly KLS 7218-M Identification not working

246C temp reading in the controller would cause controller to cut the power and create overtemp error from the controller at the same time. I think you can do this for the basic fault analysis: -Please disconnect everything but halls, phases and throttle to limit error possibilities - Can you see th...

Re: Controllers, Torque and heat

I am unsure why everyone is wanting more torque. It is a rather pointless property. What you want is power... More power at lower speeds and less heat dissipation? You need a new motor. You want a slower motor and feed it your standard current which will decrease your top speed. ... You totally los...

Re: Building a Powerful Ebike

Quality isn't a handful of user stories. It's when you can produce with 1/1000 or even 1ppm faults. So quality never shows here. From the same reasoning i cannot say that QS has perfect record. I know they are not bad in quality or to deal with. They don't use the shittiest materials, they have some...

So true!
Generally people don't want to read stuff that isn't about them and their project specifically. Their questions are always new, and can't possibly have been answered previously.

Re: Building a Powerful Ebike

I come from retiring an old Kona stinky downhill built to ebike, capable of 65mph - i can say it's certainly strong enough and capable of doing those speeds. I did 10000miles commuting on it. Geometry always felt a bit off though so i'd not pick that particular frame for a build. I'd buy motor/contr...

Re: Ebike issues - strange and unseen

I never tried to use the controller connections on the tester but I don't think that's normal. Too many lights on at the same time, should be only two revolving LEDs and the middle. UsingTheLyenEbikeTester.pdf Though controller responds to halls, if these are bad then the rotation would be shown inc...

MiniDyno motor test bench..scaleable 0-50kW

I'm building a small dyno that can test most motors here, first revision max power is 30kW. It will be scaleable so it can probably go up to the double power with changed sensors and bigger flywheels. Or smaller with just other sensors. I have based the frame on alu profiles in 90x90mm. It is an exp...

Yeah i know where the question comes from, just that question posed like this puts seller in a weird position. ask the users instead, not in the sales thread

Does this controller fix the low end torque delay of the Adapttos of the past?
Urm.. Let's pose a theoretic question: if you ask a seller if their product has a negative feature then what can he answer..?

This is not an adaptto. The question is a bit rude posed in this way.

Could be serial adapter is not working correctly or wrong com port selected.. Apart from this I don't have other guess..
Can you see the serial adapter in device manager? Are drivers updated?
Is the serial adapter connected on same port as you have chosen in program?

Re: Votol EM-100 & EM-150 controllers

To get right speed: 1. % in three speed settings You get best efficiency by running the motor at the right load and rpm. The qs dyno values indicate that best rpm is around 3500. I think you could try to gear to get this rpm at your preferred speed and not limit speed by percent setting. It is very...

Some answers are in the manual, did you check it? I could go 60km on 72V35Ah with this combo on my moped. You have triple the weight and 4 times the contact surface on the tires. Hard to say what's reasonable in range. Does motor get varm? The phase current setting is just a representative value, my...

You're mostly offtopic in this thread, you should ask here:

I'll answer you there if you post the same question. There's a link to the manual in the Votol controller thread

Re: SPM VS IPM Motor - And Field weaken, is it worth it

That's close to nothing.. Given P=Torque*(rotation speed) then you can divide and remove the omega from your formula and max torque would be T=L*I*I/4 Amplitude of the phase to phase inductance difference L 1 is 0.010*1e-3 (which really kills it) Current at 200A (assumption) Which gives T=0.1Nm That...

Inductance measured on the revolution (with ebay meter, don't know how hard it is to measure inductance accurately) for QS3000W motor:
Max: 0.078 mH
Min: 0.058 mH

Can any estimations of the reluctance torque potential be done based on this?

I'll hook it up to a scope and shunt in the coming weeks and do some testing. Problem is i need new batteries to drive it and that will take a while to fix.

I've read that the battery current is free to set at any limit in the program but haven't tried more than 200A.

Re: SPM VS IPM Motor - And Field weaken, is it worth it

If a motor is freewheeling at speeds above kv*V and circuit is always closed then the generated voltage will be higher than battery voltage (which i think is what madin is referring to) so controller cannot put out any current.. This is a paradox to me..

Mustn't circuit be open?

Re: SPM VS IPM Motor - And Field weaken, is it worth it

Madin, your post would indirect mean that field weakening cannot be used? But it can? If the throttle is released at high speed and you get 1000w regen then that's a showstopper.. Very nasty if the circuit is always closed and regen cannot be controlled.. it would also mean that you'd always have re...
