Re: Replacing Controller MOSFETs (Sabvoton72150)
Does motor go faster after the repair? This could indicate a sensor issue. Are you sure the halls are placed ok and wired ok? Easiest is if you have a spare controller/to borrow - if it runs poorly also with a new controller then your motor sensors or wiring is the likely error. Which halls did you ...

Re: Stator/magnet swept area
The values for airgap flux and linear current density are tricky to understand, but at least the general relationship is there, so you can figure out the overall trend. Units need to be looked at so that they all go together but this is what i would do to estimate a motor from scratch from the equa...

It’s Ok, better than the normal chinese dealings. Got good customer service a few times when i had issues. Communication is slow, sometimes stupid but i think it’s partly the language barrier. I trust them.

Re: QS 138 70H with Gearbox
the ‘hall phase angle’ is simply the angle between the sensors. And the ‘hall shift angle’ is this the angle between the sensor centreline and the magnet/pole centreline? Yes, sort of. The hall shift angle sets the triggering of the coils in relation to the hall sensor switch point. It doesn't have...

Re: QS 138 70H with Gearbox
5 pole pair, phase angle + or - 60. can't remember. it's in the Votol controller thread. I think the geared motor is basically the same as the non geared since it's name is 138 70H so plenty of people have gotten it working.

Re: Less volts means more range, amps and torque ?
Long story short, the battery voltage should be sized to provide only what is adequate for required max speed and power. Then, more parallel chains can be added to increase energy and reduce the discharge currrent of each cell to an acceptable level to meet the required power level (P=VxI). Either ...

Re: Less volts means more range, amps and torque ?
That’s too generalised to mean much. A good battery needs to fit your max power AND your continuous power. Good, simple rule is: If it gets hot then it’s too small.
If you’d get one mile more with a 48V setup depends on your system, not only on the difference in volts.

Re: Less volts means more range, amps and torque ?
Most specs for batteries give the spec at quite high load on the battery since it looks better. let's take an example: We have a molicel P42 cell battery, each cell can take 35A and you have 10 in parallell so it would be often be called a ”350A battery”, if you're lucky they throw in "peak 350...

Re: Less volts means more range, amps and torque ?
why people don't go crazy with voltages above 100v is that you might not have enough torque because there aren't enough parallel connections ? 1) safety, death and fried fingers. Liability. 2) controller losses go up a lot above 100V components 3) the less you load the battery, the longer it lasts....

Re: 3 phase wire combination
Can some one explain why one phase combination would work better another? If you match the phases incorrectly then you get the wrong firing order as people have already stated, it can be compared to a combustion cylinder firing too early or late, fighting the rotation direction and the other cylind...

Re: Expert diagnosis required - Hall faults on Sabvoton 72150 / Crystalite shuddering
I think Honeywell ss411 bipolar sensors are the most commonly recommended here, they have a more stable switching than ss441. It’s not necessarily the cause of any problems but for next timeI replaced all 3 halls (using ss441A unipolar sensors

Re: Programming APT AE96600 controller (UPDATE: don't buy, unstable program)
Just set the mode dc current to whatever you need and you’re ok. That and the phase current setting obviously needs to be right for your motor. If you don’t know the correct phase angle setting for your motor then that needs to be found. There are a few others that need to be set like low volt/ high...

Re: MH RYZ (derbi 50cc)
When buying ASI from electric race technologies/ERT you don’t always get a password for the controller program so it’s effectively a bricked controller if you need to update something, at least that’s what i’ve seen described here on ES. Sucks.

Re: MH RYZ (derbi 50cc)
Sad to hear that you also have the ERT issues. Controller will be useless without update and it’s not cheap.. Battery looks good, your spot weld energy is a bit too high, it’s almost breaking through the strips. before soldering i’d load the battery with some high current and calculate the internal ...
