Re: issues finding hall sensor combenations using svmc72150 and revolt 120 pro motor

That sounds ok and the noload is ok to. I think it won’t get much better than this.. still strange it gets so hot with your high gearing, even if revolts are wildly overspeced motors of low quality. I’d buy a QS 138 90h any day instead of putting efforts into connecting the second motor. It’s true h...

Re: Wanted..120~160V controller

It was months ago, maybe even last year. I won’t be able to find it.

120Vx150A isn’t too shabby really even though it’s derated from original 250A

Re: Hub motor rewinding, what thickness of enamelled copper wire?

I’ve done a few motors. It’s surprising how the slot fill can look so full but fill be so low, and this motor does not look so perfect, this is due to the bundled enters and exits, low turn count and crossed wires. This costs fill. my comments come across as negative and you have the reason to be ha...

Re: Hub motor rewinding, what thickness of enamelled copper wire?

Then i challenge you to measure it. Take a slot, without insulation and measure it. Calculate area exactly. Divide wire area by slot area. You’ll get a fat apology if above 30%, a normal one if above 25% If your motor is ready (and i guess it is) then the next time you do a motor you can PM me the r...

Re: Hub motor rewinding, what thickness of enamelled copper wire?

That’s not solid, sorry. Every crossed wire is a lost copper strand and the bundled exits and enters steal room. If you calculate fill on this i’d be surprised if you’re higher than 25% fill

Re: Hub motor rewinding, what thickness of enamelled copper wire?

Congratulations!
Seems there isn’t the same copper on every tooth? (This will make motor lose efficiency.)

Also like low copper fill so you could aim for higher fill if you ever rewind again.

Re: QS 138 70H with Gearbox

About 1:8 on 19” wheels gives wheel popping on my bike at 72V500Aphase so between 1:4 and 1:5 on 12” wheels should be good.

With 12” wheels i’d guess you’re on a bike that pops more easily so closer to 1:4 would be my starting point

Depends on what you’re after, speed or wheelies

Re: Wanted..120~160V controller

Read it on ES facebook. Guy seemed to know what he was speaking about. If you’re below 1000usd then i don’t know many other options. The powervelocity VESC clone here on ES seems like it won’t ever be ready. Google ”120V brushless controller” and you get a ton of chinese controllers if you’re willin...

Re: Hubmonster teardown

205 is stator width i think
It’s stator or airgap diameter. Their sizing is very clear, easy to compare motors.
Double the magnet height, twice the torque and twice as much motor
1.4x the airgap diameter, twice peak torque, twice the peak motor. A lot more continuous difference.

Which magnet did you get by the way? Is it 14 pole/7 pole pairs? That’s what you need.

Re: issues finding hall sensor combenations using svmc72150 and revolt 120 pro motor

I had several controllers with the encoder, there wasn’t any issues. It generates perfect signals based on the magnet position but if timing is not correct then it won’t work. I have checked timing on motors from way too retarded to way too ahead and it can be heard, if you’re a lot off at least. Co...

I’ve seen 7500 rpm max stated by qs for the 138 motor. Might be less depending on the gear setup

Re: Wanted..120~160V controller

There are a few. What spec and price range do you want? If it’s <1000usd then apt96600 is speced to take 30S but i’ve read it derates max current to 150A at higher voltages.

Re: issues finding hall sensor combenations using svmc72150 and revolt 120 pro motor

Shouldn’t be hard on the motor with that kind of gearing. I’d guess the sensor signals are still really off or your revolt motor is total crap. Could be either.

What’s your kV?

Re: issues finding hall sensor combenations using svmc72150 and revolt 120 pro motor

What’s your total gearing? I think i ran 11/65 to 26” wheel or thereabouts back in the day - on a two wheeler. What’s your voltage? It seems to make an awful lot of noise and goes slow? Try lower the phase amp to 300 and battery to 150 so you’re at 1:2, see if it lowers the controller heating. Can y...

Re: Cheaper hubsinks?

If you checked the price for alu blocks and cnc machine time then the 75usd or whatever hubsink price will look cheap. This profile type should be extruded. it’s borderline criminal to cut it with all the waste created (even though it can be done).
