Re: 20Ah li-on NMC cells UK London new boxed £9 each on 50

I like these, I like them a lot but according to my calculation I need approximately 100 of them for my scooter, and when I look at energy density (either by volume or by mass) these seem not that great compared to let's say 18650 - is this the case or am I missing something? What voltage is your s...

Smart to use CAD (Cardboard Aided Design) to trial fit the battery box
Have you already contacted the RDW for this build? Are they a little more forgiving these days to get DIY EV builds tested and road legal? Good luck with the rest of the build and enjoy!

Just use the PAS function. By just rotating the pedals the motor will assist at the level you chose.

Re: Cecil's ride - 2017 Raleigh Kodiak 1 full suspension 27.5 plus bike with 750w TSDZ2 mid drive and rear rack dog carr

You might be able to mount batteries on the bottom side of the down tube. As long as you have clearance to the front tire it keeps the low but still forward. cecil02.jpg If the tire would hit the top pack on full compression you could rotate your mid drive motor towards the rear as to make room to ...

Re: C Cab Hot Rod Power Advice

Batt pack.jpg BMS.jpg Fortunately they did use a BMS. It seems it's rated for 60A hopefully (!) continuous with a higher peak amperage. So that is a relief. Just use it as is and if the circuit breaker trips when accelerating you could bypass the breaker for the discharge amps with a separate port ...

Re: C Cab Hot Rod Power Advice

Again: don't charge your pack with that 30A rectifier without monitoring the voltage of the pack. Preferably the voltage of each cell. If they sold you that rectifier as a charger and not included detailed instructions or a manual I wonder if there is even a BMS (Battery Management System) in the ba...

Re: C Cab Hot Rod Power Advice

FWIW....This is the charger they sell with the battery pack. http://www.cnczone.ru/forums/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=10282 It looks like it is a rectifier and NOT a CC/CV charger so DON'T charge your battery pack FULLY with it! It seems to keep outputting a constant current of 30A and not sw...

Am I missing something, I'm wondering why nobody is doing this?
Because it's better to replace the weight of the gearbox and ancillaries with a stronger (heavier) motor and battery pack.

That is an ideal front fork to place a hub motor in/on. You can replace the lower clamp with (a steel) one that fits the flats of a hub motor axle to clamp the axle in place.

Re: C Cab Hot Rod Power Advice

It seems that battery pack is sold as a "portable energy storage unit". And it looks like there is only a single in/out connector for the power. Probably because it is meant as an electrical buffer in a total system. So the max. 40A current on the sticker and the 63A built in circuit breaker are the...

Re: Fat Bike vs (Hardtail)-MTB

Why are you riding on road with the suspension locked? Surely it's much more comfortable with the rear suspension working. Especially when carrying a heavy back pack. And why not place your battery pack in front of your down tube?
What FS bike do you have?

Why not get or build a 72V battry pack and use a lower gearing (mid drive QS motor, not hub?) to be able to use all the power the motor has to offer?

Re: EASY/FAST/INEXPENSIVE way to connect pouch-cells together

For pouches with thin metal tabs that are long enough and not too wide maybe a tube squeezer key made of bare copper wire could be used to roll them up together. Then put small metal paper clamps over the rolled up tabs and remove the hinged wire "handles".

Re: New "Lingbei MM28.250 torque sensor mid drive"

@slowco that's an excellent proposition. The tdsz2 is very nice for range. It's pretty noisy and lack torque but it does make wonders for battery consumption :) The TSDZ2 probably only lacks torque at the legal 250W limit on standard firmware  Although I have no experience with that mid drive...
