Re: What is best ebike lighting available?

I still wouldn't pay that much for a bike light. I'm a cheapskate and would just buy a motorbike lamp with a wide angle pattern that can run off my battery pack voltage and mount it low on the bike. Just glue a black plastic piece of sheet on top of the headlamp unit like a baseball cap to create th...

Re: Not working, help please: Jueshuai 1000W 48V controller with Hailong 52V14ah battery

If your controller is getting warm just by plugging in the battery and without running the motor then there is another problem than over voltage. Is the polarity correct (+ to + and - to -)?

Check out this light: https://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=1055278 Don't have any personal experience with it but I want to order one. I'm in Europe though so to save some shipping and lots of taxes I'll wait for a friend to fly over and take the light with him. That's a lot of money for a bike...

Re: 48v 20ah 3.2v 16s Battery LiFePo4 - I'm New at This

Now we need to wait for the electronics experts (I'm not...) to determine which of the 3 blue trim pots (with white glue) is for the output voltage. Maybe even the current could be upgraded to 4 or 5A with one of them. As mentioned before, the output voltage can be up to 60V but ONLY when there is a...

Re: 48v 20ah 3.2v 16s Battery LiFePo4 - I'm New at This

I have a "48V" 25Ah LiFePo4 pouch (16S1P) battery pack with, what seems to be, the same 5A charger as in the link to your battery pack. It has been, and is, working great. The problem you might have had with the melting could be from the cooling fan not working. So a new charger from the seller migh...

So where your at what does “moped regestation” let you do as far as speeds and trails? Insurance and motorcycle helmet? I like cruising around low speed.....20 to 30 mph and see all the sights. ‘Slow down and smell the roses” so to speak. I wonder if they will ever ship the EU street legal one to u...

You seem to be spending a lot of time and money for a few drag races that aren't that quick. I understand the attraction of buying and building but can't understand the lack of riding pleasure it results in. Why not built an electric motorcycle you can ride on the street and enjoy for many more mile...

Re: Nucular electronics - complete kit for ev! [beta]

Basically a "legal" mode that can be set easily when pulled over. As the speed and wattage vary per country or state, it needs to be programmable to the desired max speed (rpm) and output watts (amps). I think that a simple switch option could do that when you hide a wire with a reed switch glued to...

I was told all the newer MY1018's had the helical gears and were quieter than the early straight gear models
That might explain the great difference in noise from videos I found on Youtube. Some have the gear whining sound and some are much quieter and more pleasant to hear.

Re: 48 v 13A battery

What an overload in specs... Maybe you could add the brand, type and arrangement (nr. series/parallel) of cells, how it is built (professionally/by you) with or without cell holders, what BMS, type of case, etc... And it isn't 13A but maybe 13Ah? So what is the maximum amperage and continuous rating...

Re: Statorade vs generic Ferrofluid?

Watch out as some types of "regular" ferrofluid are based on more aggressive oils/fluids that may dissolve the glue that holds the magnets in place. There is a thread here on E-S about ferrofluid with this info.

Re: 2 chargers won't work TaoTao ATE501 scooter

Is it a series of SLA (lead acid) batteries or a Li-ion battery pack with a BMS (battery managment system)? If SLA: check each battery for voltage and connection to the other batteries. If Li-ion with BMS: check output voltage of pack at BMS and reset BMS. Check all your wiring from the charger to t...

...mass centralization is key. I rode a new Zerode Taniwha last week with a Pinion gearbox, and I can feel the difference not having a cassette/derailleur hanging on the back wheel. The bike is so planted, you can feel how light both ends are. Let's not sacrifice the ride for the sake of easy drive...

Re: DH frames for freeriding

DH frame would be a great choice and the slack head angle can be sharpened a bit by lowering the preload of the front springs or sliding the fork tubes up in the crowns. And a longer rear shock can help raise the rear end.

If you mean the small brown weld spot that prevents the cover ring of the freewheel from loosening that seems "normal" as a solution for a problem some customers might have had.

Great build ingredients, I'm going to follow this. Good luck and enjoy!

The motor I have selected is an old school brushed MY1018 450W 24V that is stated to be able to run 36V without issues. It is the smallest and lightest geared motor I could find that seemed to meet my needs. The one I purchased is said to be rated for 25A as well, but I am not sure it will run reli...

Why on earth would you want to do that if you can just mount the complete drive train (including the gear r...

Re: 1971 Super Beetle EV Conversion - Using a salvage Leaf

If you are looking at using a salvaged Nissan Leaf and using that powerplant "stand alone" in the Beetle you could use Paul Holmes' control board to get full control of the Leaf's drive unit: https://pandspowerelectronics.ecwid.com/#!/Nissan-Leaf-2011-2017-replacement-control-board/p/125965637/categ...
