Indeed it looks silly, but it probably give you lot of fun building and riding it.
Those footpegs from electric unicycle are so out of place
Nice build taking into acount the sourced parts. :bigthumb:

Re: New build, BHT mid-drive "direct", custom frame

Qgx0rt-1LCw i should not have procrastinated w/ the sensor install. i would've seen that the yellow phase wire was rubbing against the rotor. eventually the insulation and copper wire wore off and started acting like brushes, hence the scorch marks quality on this BHT motor is really crap  Bum...

https://i.imgur.com/8uJow6E.jpg https://i.imgur.com/5oL4JRm.jpg will do the shunt mod ASAP and also the temp probe on the windings. if power is still inadequate and there's still some thermal headroom i'll probably get the kelly controller speaking of thermal headroom. what's the safe max temp of t...

Re: New build, BHT mid-drive "direct", custom frame

Are you monitoring temps inside the motor? By the time the heat soaks through to the case it could be way too late for the windings. Great job on the bike build by the way! I agree with that. I've fixed the temperature sensor (the same as the picture, with the remote display) inside the motor, on t...

https://i.imgur.com/vyME3vg.jpg haha i was looking at the same thing! but blue https://i.imgur.com/O6fWxf6.jpg i actually don't mind bending those cheapo pedals. but they might deform the frame during a crash. so yes i'll be switching to pegs soon. will add a bolt-on mounting plate here also the 17...

Re: bluetooth BMS?

Hi all I spent some time to clean-up and translate the interface of JBDtools , the latest (v1.A) version. As I still haven't received my BMS unit, I surely missed some fields or made translation quirks. Please let me know. https://images2.imgbox.com/f4/78/GP3t7HYV_o.jpg http://cjoint.net/?b04euy5jp...

Re: bluetooth BMS?

In my experience, reconfiguring a 20s to 16s BMS from James requires: 1) Rewire the cell pins (some pads are joined) probably, but how to find out the right combo? i dont want to kill something ;( Some examples. Apply to other boards 15s smart bms10.jpg 15s smart bms11.jpg 15s smart bms12.jpg 15s s...

Re: bluetooth BMS?

iam freakin out right now.... i have also a 20s BT BMS from JPB/James. i wanted to use it for a 16s Battery. So in the PC Software/Settings i set it up to 16s. but it does not show me the last 4 cells. if i measure at the battery balance wires everything is fine. 2 of the temp sensors (3+4) show me...

Too expensive for those dumb plastic parts. I've made one myself using Sintra plastic, heat gun and can of black paint.

Sean9002, i think it lost pressure, which kept the rebound needle from backing off the orifice, thus the super slow rebound. full diagnosis soon trazor, sure. actually i haven't filled it w/ oil yet, that's the messy part. will make a video soon. btw what's your complete frame weight without shock ...

Re: New build, BHT mid-drive "direct", custom frame

i picked 1.8mm wall thickness because thinner is very difficult to weld w/ my 0.9mm fluxcore wire, at least w/ the machine i have. anyway i just picked up a co2 tank. let's see if i could weld 1.3mm wall w/ MIG. i could probably get away w/ using thinner wall for the saddle bracket https://i.imgur....

Re: bluetooth BMS?

I will make some time to try to desolder these mosfets and post the results. Many thanks for sharing your knowledge! If you plan to work with FETs i'd suggest buying a hot air station. It makes working MUCH more easier. You can heat bigger parts of the PCB an ensure proper solder flow, as well as d...

Re: bluetooth BMS?

Oh wait. I didn't connect my load to P-. I connected battery to B- and load to C-. As these BMS say "charge and discharge port: same" I thought it was the same. And is the vendors pictured connection method It's ok to connect load to C. Even though it's C=Charger. And P=Power. So i connected my con...

Re: bluetooth BMS?

I maybe try to repair it as you suggest. I don't get voltage on the serial port. Can that be an indication of a major problem, not only with the mosfets? About the overload... I didn't pull so much energy. I was using my bike with a Kelly KBS72121X with a Denzel4500 motor. Probably not more than 60...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I couldn't find much information or conflicting information on the fastace BDA53RC rear shock, was it was designed for a motorcycle or bicycle?. For some reason the suspension seems really good on the Sur-Ron and made me believe that perhaps it used a motorcycle rear shock. I did find on their PDF ...
