Re: Ford Think Fun electric bicycle or parts

Hi,

I have tried that but only found 25 postings from 2014 and most of them where about some aftermarket stuff that one could build onto it...
So unfortunally nothing really interesting about this specific bicycle found yet..

Ford Think Fun electric bicycle or parts

Hi all,

I'm looking for a complete bike or parts for the Ford Think Fun electric bicycle as build around 2001.
I'm not sure if they were only sold in the USA or also in Europe as well.

Any information about these bikes or available parts is very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Paul

Novox/Tisong scooter: where does the speedo signal go ?

Hi, I recently have bought a non-runner Novox C50 scooter also known as the chinese brand Tisong and replaced the SLA batteries with a fresh lithium set. This scooter has a digital dash/speedometer. Unfortunally the speedo didnt/doesnt work and after looking into the wiring it appears the wire drivi...

New 18650 cells

I have some brand new 18650 cells for sale (located in The Netherlands). These cells where ordered in bigger quantities then needed for my custom pack building projects and now left for sale. Cells currently in stock: Samsung INR18650-29E 2850mAh/8.25A @ €2.45 Samsung INR18650-30Q 3000mAh/15A @ € 4....

Re: JP spot welder

I always seemed to get some sticking when it was making good welds. Rocking the tip or twisting it would break it loose easily. With handheld electrodes, this is easy in practice. I'm not aware of a good way to completely prevent sticking. It seemed if the contact was a bit poor, sticking was more ...

Re: Active pre-charge/inrush control

It looks like the power stage on a typical BMS. There is probably no need to slow the charging FETs. I think you could eliminate the resistor/cap and just switch 12v to the charge FET gates. The discharge side still needs the cap. Okay i thought of that first also but i have a charger here which re...

Re: Active pre-charge/inrush control

i really don't understand what you're trying to achieve. if you use a bms to monitor and control your battery then why do you want it to control your inrush limiter? the bms has fets installed anyway and will stop current flow from charger to battery, and same will happen if the battery is too low....

Re: Active pre-charge/inrush control

And here's another change for my smartswitch concept.. I've split the control signals for the load/controller part and for the charger part of the switch. My bms controller provides two separate signals: LVC and HVC. I want to control when current is allowed to flow into the pack (charging) and when...

Re: Active pre-charge/inrush control

Ok ,changed the schematic on this one, tested it and it works. The +12V and GND which drive the FET gates come from an isolated dc-dc converter connected to the pack by a small on-off switch. This +12V is actually fed into an AVR controller which controls the CAN-BUS BMS and triggers the FETS on and...

Re: Active pre-charge/inrush control

I'd like to add back-to-back mosfet(s) to prevent any current in and out of the pack (for example when driving or charging).
Can i simply add the additional fets to the source from the other fets and connect the pack to the 'lower' drain and the load/motor/charger to the upper drain ?

Re: JP spot welder

Any thoughts on using multiple layers of .15 rather than single thicker nickel? I'm using this technique to create heavier busbars for my >100Amps packs. By using multiple .2x12mm or 0.2*15mm strips combined into a 1.0*12 or 1.2*15mm busbar. Since i can weld upto 2000Amps i guess using 0.3 strips w...

Re: Welding and pack building services offered

Prensel, where are you located? In a few weeks I'll try to replace all the cells in my 10s4p commercial ebike (Giant Twist, 2011) with new cells, so I'll try to reuse the tabs, but I don't have a spot welder. My workshop/office is located near Tiel but i'm almost daily in Utrecht, near the Galgewaa...

Re: JP spot welder

Ah ok I see what you mean. It's good to know that someone is looking close :-) At the video i'm using the old electrodes made of solid copper with a 2mm tip and the gap was set a bit (1mm) too far apart. I'm now using GlidCop electrodes with a 1.5mm tip and with a 2mm gap so there's more room to all...

Re: JP spot welder

I watched the video and even with all the prep work that guy did, his spot welds were off the tabs in several spots because of all the stack up tolerances. Around 1:25 you can see he is missing the back side of the tab and all the Sparks show he is missing also. That is even with him doing 35% of t...

Re: JP spot welder

Some people done it already, check few pages back. But you would need to experiment. Also, like fechter said, you could use like 2S 10 Ah of some extra strong lipo cells, it should be even smaller than capacitors. I have design here of a spot welder made of 24 caps 47000uF/16V. They are grouped in ...

I would say charge more often.
You get more cycles out of lithium by not depleting it completely.
Hence Tesla and alike prevent over and under charging of their li-ion cells.

Re: JP spot welder with CAP's instead of battery

Hi all, I need to use capacitors instead of a car battery for the JP welder. Reason is that i'm going to use the JP welder on a CNC based system modified for spotwelding. To prevent long cables (this system has 90cm X-travel and 40cm Y-travel) i'm going to mount the JP welder with welding tips on th...
