Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

G'day, still having a bit of trouble with surging on mine, it surges on PAS and when I hold down the throttle. Attached is my config, any ideas?

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

Much better with revised settings. Still seems to surge a little at low speeds. Will do some more testing tomorrow.

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

A whole lot of very well explained stuff about how it all works :) Thanks, I have a deeper understanding now. On the Strt Level and PAS rate, yes I was trying to use to to smooth takeoff/acceleration, incorrectly. On the pot, I was trying to have a limit so I could be "legal" or just to cruise arou...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

I made the adjustment mentioned in my post above. It still felt quite slow compared to the 550 PAS watts previously on AutoPAS. It seemed to be surging and not delivering constant power, even though the readout said ~550w and now and then would go to a bit over 600, sporadically though, sometimes up...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

I had a look and everything is as expected on the settings so maybe I misunderstood them a bit for the PAS. I have set the PAS to Basic (Pwr) and Strt Level to 200w, ScaleFactr 3w/rpm. This gives a nice smooth takeoff, but it only ever gets to about 300w, even though the PLim>Max Power is set to 550...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

Is this the firmware you updated to CA3-1b2 ? Not sure if this is the most up to date firmware though GetNewFirmware.png ^^ That's exactly what I did. Last night I went to make a small tweak and wiped everything because I wrote the new default file instead of loading my existing one, then saved ove...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

I finally updated my firmware from 3 prelim 9 to the latest last night. The new PAS settings are great and I'm getting a really smooth takeoff now. Note sure why I waited years to do it, probably didn't want to mess things up but I took pictures of all the screens on the CA then put the values into ...

Re: Bike prices..... WTF?

But if you take a set of $20 Tektro or Shimano linear pull brakes, add a $12 set of salmon Kool Stop pads and a $3 Chinese booster arch from eBay, you'll have more gross braking power than just about any disc brake you can name. Power is nothing without control. I know which one works better in a r...

Re: Bike prices..... WTF?

Back to Chalo's original wide sweeping statement. "But I will say this-- the strongest rim brakes are stronger than the strongest disc brakes." But then you go on to say it's about cost. It would cost a normal human being without access to a fabrication shop the price of a whole set of XT discs (or ...

Re: 350w Bafang CST kit from eMax on 90’s Mongoose MTB

Coming up on 2 years soon. First up sorry about the images, I changed hosting for my personal site and lost a few bits and pieces which I am yet to re upload. I forgot about my posts here so will upload again and fix the missing images. The motor has not skipped a beat and has about 4200km on it. I ...

Re: 45km/h pedelec petition for Aussies

Those speeds seem rather inflated. 750W mid-drive hardly gets me up my hills faster than 15km/h. On the flat I can do 45km/h at 750W. How do you do this with 350W? In a Velomobile? Pedal :) I can easily pull 25km/h up a short steep climb, or a longer more mellow climb on my 350w hub drive. Obviousl...

Re: 45km/h pedelec petition for Aussies

That's such a crappy "solution" you're striving for that your best bet is to just run illegal and be vigilant--see cop, slow down and pedal. Also, petitions are just about the least effective way ever to make something happen. I think the "solution" is working our way up to the next best thing with...

45km/h pedelec petition for Aussies

This was put up by Emax bikes and I agree that we need some changes. 750w/45km would be my preferred position but we need to start somewhere.

Re: Bafang BBS01 350w vs Dillenger 250w front hub

Nice, 3d printing is so cool. I'm in a Retro MTB group on facebook and a fellow there has printed some shifter covers that can't be bought anymore, he did the scans at officeworks and used a cheap printer, they turned out great.

Re: Bafang BBS01 350w vs Dillenger 250w front hub

Looks like that's because the new fangled Shadow derailleurs sit much more inboard under the dropout than old school ones which would likely clear the coupling. Maybe suggest the seller puts some info about not being compatible with Shadow derailleurs.

Re: 350w Bafang CST kit from eMax on 90’s Mongoose MTB

Nice review. I just am jealous because my BBS01 from Emax has only ever gone 38-40km range on a single charge. I have a "15 watt" battery back but my Grin cycle satiator battery charger says it only charges up to about 13.5, but still I wish I could get 72km like you report. Just last week I ran ou...

Each to their own, I'd rather use a dedicated tool, one size for one job tool specifically for those JST crimps, If you prefer the more universal 'one tool does many' style crimper, then I won't knock you for it. At least now he has the choice for himself. I have to agree that having reviewed the r...

It does seem from other posts online that the RPM is coming from the motor wind but it would be nice to go faster for 20 bucks.

Re: 350w Bafang CST kit from eMax on 90’s Mongoose MTB

I plugged your data into the Ebike CA simulator and the results show that you have a 201 rpm @ 36 V motor. I looked up the codes for the motors and it seems a code 10 would have been the faster one and I have got a code 15. I have 180m altitude gain over 18km with 5 short climbs and I pedal fairly ...
