Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

Does anyone know if it's possible to set different speed limits for PAS and throttle? Not directly. You could create a preset for throttle use only, and a preset for PAS use only, and different speed limits/etc on each, and switch between them. The switching can be made automatic-ish by putting a s...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

There is an improvement when going up hill or on the flat, it no longer speeds right up and over the limit dropping off and surging again, it will hold around +/- 0.2-0.5km/h of the limit with the settings I've described in the last post. But I still get the long delay after it's been coasting along...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

Expected behaviour: Drop below speed limit, it puts some power in motor, not much just to maintain speed limit. It responds quickly, within a drop if 1km. This is about how my SB Cruiser works, using either throttle or PAS. I've attached my settings file in case you wish to try any of the settings ...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

I'm so close, but this delay in coming back after speed limit is driving me nuts. Expected behaviour: Drop below speed limit, it puts some power in motor, not much just to maintain speed limit. It responds quickly, within a drop if 1km. Actual behaviour: Drop below speed limit, nothing, until about ...

Re: 250w Dillenger basic front hub kit on Holstar hybrid

Fast forward all these years, it didn't get ridden since about 2016, a handful of times and each time the battery became worse, getting down to under 20km range on low PAS. Very disappointing, so the bike got packed away. Fast forward and my neighbour has back probems and no transport so we're reviv...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

I have arrived at three presets, with those on the digital aux switch, and speed limits on each, and the pot adjusts the limits. I was finding it slow to bring the power back after coasting at speed then hitting a hill, it would lag until the speed was a few km below the set limit. I looked into the...

Re: 350w Bafang CST kit from eMax on 90’s Mongoose MTB

So a fair bit has changed, the Mongoose is on its way back to bieng a vintage MTB and the kit has been put on my board tracker style cruiser. It's really great to ride, 23km/h you run out of RPM in the legs so might play with the gearing as it's single speed and I can possibly go a little bit taller...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

I think they default to 1mohm when you reset them. My 25 amp controller shunt is 4.66 mohms. That is very likely what happened. Thanks so much for this info, I have now set things up and it's a whole different bike, I had to drop all my limits as it took off like a rocket, I'd forgotten how punchy ...

Thanks for the tips @DanGT86, I'll check that shunt value, I think it may have changed when I upgraded firmware and overwrote a setup.

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

Some obeservations and questions... If I limit amps or watts with power limits I get surging on the throttle, it seems to not like power limts in my setup. PAS is working really well, just having trouble on a different crankset getting the magnet ring to line up. Running it start stop for half an ho...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

I've moved my CA to a new bike and played around with settings, turns out I was limiting amps and watts which was causing the throttle issue of surging so removing those limits fixed that. Also throttle out voltage was too high for the controller so I dropped it a little and all good now. Have got t...

Re: Dillenger Conversion Kit | 250w | 36v | 10Ah

Just an update, after about 13 months my battery quickly died and now wont even go 7km. Contacted Dillenger and they didn't want anything to do with me. Won't be buying from them again. Avoid!!! Damn, my battery is also dead and I was going to contact them about returning for recycling at least. Th...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

If this speed-based setup is not what you intended then I'm confused by the pot controlling speed. For a normal PAS setup you would just set the Start Assist to 650W, the RPM scaling to 0 (this is then just like the old AutoPAS), and configure AUXPot to control PAS. Set the getaway aggressiveness w...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

A whole lot of very well explained stuff about how it all works :) Thanks, I have a deeper understanding now. On the Strt Level and PAS rate, yes I was trying to use to to smooth takeoff/acceleration, incorrectly. On the pot, I was trying to have a limit so I could be "legal" or just to cruise arou...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

I made the adjustment mentioned in my post above. It still felt quite slow compared to the 550 PAS watts previously on AutoPAS. It seemed to be surging and not delivering constant power, even though the readout said ~550w and now and then would go to a bit over 600, sporadically though, sometimes up...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

I had a look and everything is as expected on the settings so maybe I misunderstood them a bit for the PAS. I have set the PAS to Basic (Pwr) and Strt Level to 200w, ScaleFactr 3w/rpm. This gives a nice smooth takeoff, but it only ever gets to about 300w, even though the PLim>Max Power is set to 550...

Is this the firmware you updated to CA3-1b2 ? Not sure if this is the most up to date firmware though GetNewFirmware.png ^^ That's exactly what I did. Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

I finally updated my firmware from 3 prelim 9 to the latest last night. The new PAS settings are great and I'm getting a really smooth takeoff now. Note sure why I waited years to do it, probably didn't want to mess things up but I took pictures of all the screens on the CA then put the values into ...

Re: Bike prices..... WTF?

But if you take a set of $20 Tektro or Shimano linear pull brakes, add a $12 set of salmon Kool Stop pads and a $3 Chinese booster arch from eBay, you'll have more gross braking power than just about any disc brake you can name. Power is nothing without control. I know which one works better in a r...

Re: Bike prices..... WTF?

Back to Chalo's original wide sweeping statement. "But I will say this-- the strongest rim brakes are stronger than the strongest disc brakes." But then you go on to say it's about cost. It would cost a normal human being without access to a fabrication shop the price of a whole set of XT discs (or ...
