Re: My electric Volkswagen Sandrail (Dune Buggy).

Good work mate, what way does your motor face? Because on my ute the air comes from the gearbox end and blows forward into the radiator and against the air coming in.
108 deg is not bad btw they tend to get hotter after a run because there is no air being sucked thru.

Re: BMW E "i5" conversion by Matija

First I wanted to put warp 11 on direct drive. But I change my mine and I will put it on the gearbox. I think motor will last longer and starts won't be with high Amperage. And it is safer with clutch. Car will be about 1.6-1.7 t . I'm not sure about that , so I want to hear your opinion. I didn't ...

Yeah Tim Flannery who was famous for saying during the 2009 drought that it was never ever going to rain like it used to because of climate change got the Rudd government to hand over 90million dollars to do geothermal and own shares in the company as well as pay them selves $500k a year each for ta...

If I could stuff the back end of SB Cruiser with batteries, I could probably do 1000 miles in it on one charge. :) (but I'd probably wanna pull a trailer with a bed and stuff in it, or put camping gear on the top of the rear rack). Depending on how much the batteries end up weighing, I might need t...

to be honest even 2000 miles is possible if you could be bothered to spend the money and drive that far i am sure tesla will do the first 1000 mile drive Interesting stuff but even Elon states you would have to drive at 20-30 Mph to get 800 miles out of a Tesla not exactly real world driving, FWI J...

Re: trackbike codename NODLEHS

No, it's not that different to 400 V. You're still dead if you touch it in the wrong spot. However the design of the battery pack is such that it creates physical isolation as well as electromechanical isolation. You're never exposed to a high voltage risk unless you deliberately choose to circumve...

Sorry, typo! 168 s and 2 p. 622 volts nominal, 700 volts fully charged. The current 30C cont. cells would be lighter still! wow that's a weapon So can you tell people that's its no different to working on 400 volt or does it make you a little more nervous? It's a 6 kWh pack, 186s2p using 40C cells. Including the enclosure, contactors and fuses etc, it weighs in at just under 54 kg.

Yeah what ever happened to solar pavment roadways its a great concept but I guess like all great ideas they need $$$ Didn't work. Problems like heavy people, dirt and water combined to make it impractical. If you want to use roadways to generate power, put solar canopies over them. The hardware exi...

Re: KiwiEV VW beetle Nissan Leaf high power

Chevy volt packs on the way do you think I should parallel them up for 36kwh at 360 volts or at say 8kwh to one pack and get to the high 400 volts at 26 kwh.
This would be lighter and provide some serious power into the Leaf motor like Arlin1 is doing.

Those numbers sound about right. A decent inverter might be closer to 5000 Pstg. Motor is spot on though - I paid 6000 Pstg for my Evo motor back in 2013. The battery pack will be the cheapest part of your build, probably well less than 10k Pstg. My 9 kWh battery came to about AUD$8,000. Hey Chris ...
