Re: Lightweight E-bike Gallery <20kg

I have two lightweight E-bikes to share... one is a 14.5kg mtb, and a 18.1kg beach cruiser. Both bikes running a BBS02 mid drive motor, and 12s lipo for battery. https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=71695 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v420/spanglo/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_201508...

Re: New Kepler carbon build

As an owner of a 6.9kg Trek Madone 5.5, I've often wondered the same. Road bikes are so fast with a strong rider... a little assist could go a very long way.

9kg is a respectable goal. Very interested in knowing the final kit weight.

Good luck on the build.

Re: How may watts needed for 25 MPH etc?

Agree with the others about the mountain of factors involved.

In my case, on a lightweight mtb, BBS02 with 12S battery @ 20amps, pedaling hard, I generally use 30% assist, which is around 250w.

Re: Steepest grade on BBS02 with NO PEDALING?

There is one paved street in San Diego that is 28.6%. But the one I want to tackle with the BBS02 or the BBSHD is offroad. Actually, according to Strava, it peaks out at 43%. Now this steep segment I'm referring to which varies from 25% to 43% is probably only 200 feet long. It is climbable. I can ...

Re: First Ebike build X2... BBS02 MTB & Beach Cruiser

I had similar ideas and converted a schwinn beach cruiser, I already had, with a 250w (EU limit) front hub only because the schwinn has a bmx one piece crank so wont take a mid drive, (I'm told). I want suspension comfort too, so have swapped the front forks and added a sprung seat post a neighbour...

Re: New Bafang Crank-Drives

But if it didn't I'll just have to go for a standard position. definitely will not fit in the triangle. The Electra and my pure have very different frame shapes and curves. But it is not an Electra or a Pure. There is a very good chance it won't fit, I admit that. For most bikes that would be becau...

Re: New Bafang Crank-Drives

Excellent. I shall try that when I eventually drop the cash for one. Managed to pull off that location with a beach cruiser, but it was very tight fit. Until now I had missed the build thread. WOW on the cruiser BBS02 fit! I always figured there would be a frame that would allow the motor to mount ...

Re: New Bafang Crank-Drives

I have one further question. Assuming there is space, it there any reason why the motor HAS to be under the front downtube, and not placed inside the frame, either between the downtube and seat post out seat post and chain stay? Managed to pull off that location with a beach cruiser, but it was ver...

Re: Fun Commuter eBike? Bafang750W or Bomber eBike?

A lightweight commuter was my objective too. Ended up with a bike under 40 lbs with batteries. Settled on the BBS02 with no regrets. That mid drive has good balance of power and efficiency. My commute is 20 miles each way with 800ft of elevation, and I typically arrive with 2 bars on the battery ind...

Re: Your Whours for kms

New to ebikes, and I could use some help figuring out usage. Is it possible to figure watt hours from start and end voltage? On my 19.7 mile commute to work, the starting voltage of my 12S 6.6A pack was 49.2V. Arrived at work and the pack measured 45.4V. The controller is set to 20A. Is that enough ...

First Ebike build X2... BBS02 MTB & Beach Cruiser

I started planning my first ebike build soon after purchasing an electric car earlier in the year. Commuting with an electric car is definitely the way to go, but it got me thinking about other forms of electric transportation as well. Thought about getting a motorcycle, but ended up running with th...

Re: New Member Have Questions

I just installed a couple of BBS02 kits last weekend, and commuted to work a couple times this week. 19.6 - 20 mile commute each way, with 800 ft of uphill and 700 ft of downhill. I have a mtb and a beach cruiser. The mtb has 6.6A battery pack, and the cruiser has 10A. Arrived at work with 2 bars on...

The car horn is brilliant. Unfortunately far too bulky IMHO.

Something like this http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000ACAMJC/ref ... oltools-20

I'm thinking smaller form, doubles as a headlight, powered by CO2 cartridge inserted in a handlebar end.

I found the following article that explained this at Electric-FatBike.com: https://electricfatbike.wordpress.com/2015/06/26/a-hackers-guide-to-programming-the-bbs02/ A quick note on power levels. If your display is set to only use 3 power levels then the controller uses settings for Asst1, Asst5 an...

Re: BBS02 number of PAS levels effect

5 levels of assist does sound ideal.

When listing your levels can you include the % of total current?

How do these levels of assist sound to you guys?

Level 1: 15% of total current
Level 2: 30%
Level 3: 60%
Level 4: 85%
Level 5: 100%

Re: Weight Weenie Ebike

Actually that kit is 4.3kg (9.5 pounds) including the mains charger - the stuff on the bike weighs 3.7kg (8.15 pounds). That makes it reasonably similar to the guessed weights for the Q100 in the spreadsheet. Spanglo, there is a huge difference in power and weight between a Keyde and a BBS02 (which...

I have a question about the bike the OP linked: https://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-us/bi ... 020/48873/ Any issues you see mounting a BBS02 above the BB instead of traditional below the bottom tube location?

Re: how low can you go? safe minimum voltage

My original question was based on the assumption that the battery pack was balanced prior to discharge... I should have mention that detail.

I understand dnmun's point that if there was a low cell, then the controller LVC would be of no protection.

Re: how low can you go? safe minimum voltage

What about setting the BBS02 controller LVC @ 43V for a 12S pack for example? Aside from a leaving some juice on the table, would there be any negatives to setting the LVC that high? I would think having the pack cut out early would always be better than risking over discharge.
