Re: Please review this before I place an order

Just to follow up, I got come information straight from Grin. Even though the website says to use the faster winding for 20" wheels, they suggested that I go with the slower winding As expected, the CA 3 will give me more of what I need, including built-in (as compared to modifying the CA right out ...

Please review this before I place an order

This is going to go an a Rotovello (a moderately heavy velomobile). I also have a 48V 30AH LiFePO4 battery that I will be using with it. My goal is not high speed, instead, I am looking for range and the ability to pull a trailer with solar panels. I already have the solar panels and charge controll...

Re: Tongsheng, add throttle functionality

Are you using the standard firmware or the osf firmware on the motor? With controller I assume you replaced the controller pcb in the motor? I am running the standard firmware. Yes, by controller I mean the unit in the motor housing. Both sides of the motor housing need to be removed to install it....

Re: Tongsheng, add throttle functionality

I ama teacher, so I am on winter break. This break I installed a throttle kit. By Kit, I took the easy way out and ordered a throttle enabled controller. It went well, I ended up needing to clean up some wires, such as to the head/tail-light circuit. As it cam eith no instructions, I needed to play ...

Re: Ok, I bent the new rim... Looking for a stronger rim.

I am looking at this thread because I am trying to find a suitable rim for my rotovelo 20" 406.

I want to build a wheel using the NuVinci 380 (125mm flange diameter). It will be used with a BBS02 in the front. Any rim recomendations would be welcome.

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Okay, I now have the TSDZ2 drive installed and working. All I have done so far is a parking lot test. What I am not clear on is how to set the speed limit on the motor. I have the display in this video and I used it for setup. The issue is the Speed Screen. Instead of seeing a number, I only have a ...

Re: Why has progress stalled?

You are seeing assemblies with torque sensors becoming more common for the home builder. I consider that to be a pretty big change. Beyond that, big leaps in e-bikes are a product of battery development. There just haven't been many changes in batteries lately. That being said, my interests in e-bik...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

This thing is nowhere to be found in 48V 750W version. Aliexpress returns only two items in search for it. What's happening? Is the thing discontinued? Earlier this week I placed an order for a 48V 750W motor. This is the vendor that I used . I place a lot of orders on AliExpress and I don't have m...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

. I haven't install it as yet, still trying to see where I should order a battery from. PSWPower or Luna. I'm a little more concern about the battery quality, then I was with the Motor. I figure the motor are all from the same factor/company. I actually have a Luna 48V battery already. It was off a...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Quick question that I don't see an answer to here. I am getting ready to order a 48V750W. Is there any reason to order from a domestic supplier, like Luna, instead of AliExpress? I order a lot of stuff from AliExpress and am comfortable with them. that being said, are there any prefered AliExpress v...

Didn't they already do this four years ago? Yes. I still have my old Bike-e. The problem is the oddly placed bottom bracket. I would suggest looking at the cyclone motors double freewheel kits.

Re: Efficiency - Making space for your hobby

I also run into space issues. Several years ago my wife and I decided that we both despised yard work and purchased a two story town house with a small single car garage. The back yard is big enough for some grapes, a small table and chairs, that is pretty much it. The garage is filled with Heavy Du...

I have looked at it a couple of times; but it didn't have what I needed (and no, I don't remember what I was looking for). I tend to just use the forum and "advanced" search. As I write this I am trying to remember how to even get to the wiki; and no, I don't remember. I think thread indexes would w...

Re: Luna Cycles Apex has production problems

First off, I was happy with Luna as I built my Solar Trike. I had no trouble that I was not the cause of. Luna did recommend that I carry a spare controller. While I did carry it, I never had any need for it. Secondly, my daughter has a Rolhoff hub. Frankly, I am not impressed. She has had a complet...

Re: Bafang Ultra 1000 Drive

Now I understand! That make is even more cool. I am interested in your thoughts on the Nuvinci 380. It is offered with the BBS02 on the Evelo bikes and I was wondering if it would hold up with the BBSHD? I like it for several reasons beyond the infinite variable adjustment. Also because the gears a...

Re: Solar Trike

Just curious: Why are you electing to put them on a trailer? Is it so you can use the solar to charge different bikes, or is it for stability reasons? Mostly stability. What you can't see in my pictures is that the panels took on a list to the right. It wasn't a trip ender; but I was frequently rea...

Re: Bafang Ultra 1000 Drive

That is a very cool set up! The BBSHD, with a $20 programming cable can be set to 30 amps, 1500 watts. this would give you a lot more starting torque that a BBS02. At least that is the way I understand it. Maybe someone can correct me if I am wrong. When solar traveling the objective is to keep the...

Re: Bafang Ultra 1000 Drive

If you would be satisfied with Cadence PAS instead of Torque PAS, then all you would need do is remove your crank assembly from your existing bottom bracket then install the BBSHD unit with no cutting or welding required! I did that on the last trike; well, I used a BBS02. The idea was essentially ...

I have been looking at some of these new cycle motors from BaFang, in particular, the one Luna carries. I ride a recumbent. Re: New Generations of BB Torque Sensors (Bafang and Sempu)

I am looking at this wondering if it would be compatible with the GNG. Any thoughts? I would rather avoid a throttle if at all possible. Thinking about it, I am more interested in the Luna/Cyclone 3000W unit; however, I expect that when it comes time to order I will return to the BBS02, like I had b...

Thanks for that video, it did answer my question about getting moving from a dead stop. I had no motor trouble with the BBS02 on my 1K mi ride, which included crossing the Rockies. The only changes I made was to open the BBS02 and add moly grease to the gears. Do you feel that the unit is similar en...

Re: New "Lingbei MM28.250 torque sensor mid drive"

This motor has me interested. However, I have a question, and I am looking for general opinions about its suitability for my purpose. Question: does the display provide an estimated wattage in use? Reason, on a long ride I was very concerned with keeping the power draw below, or equal to, the amount...
