Re: hot disc brakes on hub motor?

I am running a QS273 with a 180mm disc mounted. I did some experiments with different pad compounds to see what gave the best braking performance rather than wear. So a lot of runs with heavy rear braking, to the point I actually melted one pad and the material flew off! During all these tests (Disc...

Re: Sabvoton SVMC 72150

The 2 pots on the current sensor are for "gain & offset" and used to calibrate the multiple sensors that might be fitted. This PDF should give a fair explanation and that would be basically, don't touch them, they have nothing to do with getting more power. https://www.melexis.com/-/me...

Re: Reclaimed cells. Great deal or bad choice ?

I have used Nkon for some years now and had both reclaimed and new cells. (New, when the reclaimed were out of stock). I have not done any scientific tests, only built and used packs in my bikes and can say, I have never seen a difference. (I have done some random capacity tests from each batch on a...

Re: Sabvoton SVMC072150 controller review, variable regen *PICS*

Hi Thanks for reply. So the best option is to remove two cells from the battery pack and make it 20S 84V full charge. Pity I did not know this before when I already changed battery pack from 24S to 22S to lower max voltage for SVMC72150 :? I do not use flux weakening because 80kmh is enough for me ...

Re: Any durable half-twist throttle recommendations?

The way I did my mountain bike, was to use a half twist throttle that has a clamp mounting for the throttle section itself. Then you are free to change and add whatever grip you like. I added a set of grips that had their own clamps. There are many makes on the market for both. You are also then fr...

Re: Anyone else here feel guilty?

I built my bike for the pure fun of cycling. To old and worn out to pedal without help. Do I feel guilty? No not at all. My bike is also not slow (QS273 @ 92v), but I pedal assist whenever anybody is about. When there is no one, then I let rip and enjoy myself. I respect others, have my own fun and ...

Re: B52 Stealth Bomber Rookie Build

Just my 2 cents worth. If the swing arm on that frame is mounted with a rubber bush, I would seriously suggest that you cut it out, clean up the hole and use ball bearings. A QS273 will make it a bit "snaky" on corners and rough road. (Gained from personal experience). Do note, if you use ...

Re: 21700 vs.18650 cells I'm looking at this 52v pack.

40a continuous discharge looks very dodgy to me. Cell ratings Samsung INR21700-50E UNPROTECTED Li-ion battery. Not protected with a pcb. Don't charge above 4.2V ! Check the polarity before using or charging.! Keep distance from water. Storage : below 45 °C! Don't discharge below 3V! Continuous Disch...

I thought The 3d file was for the seat post holder for reservoir. Thanks for the better picture and link, I found it, I’ve decided to wait for the moment before I buy anything... until my fork arrives that is. I need to see how my current shock pairs with the marzocchi fork before I know what’s up....

Re: PowerVeloCity F18-100 controller, not working

Thanks for the info. I never noticed that cap. I will have to have a closer look. The controller is boxed up and packed away. In the end I replaced it with a Sabvoton 96120, which after 1000kms is working very well. As for the PV controller, I did a thorough check of all the wiring and it all checke...

Re: Trying to buy a PowerVelocity Controller

I went through similar about 2 years ago, to get the 7kw to Netherlands. It took time, never went how it was told it was going. (I.E. It had been sent - it had not etc). At that time I believed the hype of their controllers. Mine did arrive. A nice 7kw brick. I have never been able to get it to work...

Here is an interesting spoke idea. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_oMh3ehRUE&ab_channel=WorldwideCyclery I have found in the past, that the quality of the rim seems to play an important part in spoke longevity. My present set up is 19" motorcycle wheel with QS273 motor with cross pattern ...

Re: Best rear shock for heavy ebike.

Ok, now this might work. You have the same exact frame as me. So it is a 205mm.... hmm , I’m about to be putting a slightly smaller rear wheel on so that might offset the 5mm difference in height. I’m pretty tall anyways and I have trouble pedaling without sitting up higher. Maybe this will work, w...

Re: Best rear shock for heavy ebike.

I had similar issues getting a good rear set up due to QS273, weight of bike and weight of me. My rear shock length 190mm. I started with a DNM RCP3 shock and modified a 1000lb spring to fit. But, this, although comfortable, bottomed out easy. Then I had the idea of trying 2 RCP air shocks. (1 was n...

Looks pretty good. I like your full fenders.....getting wet/muddy sucks! How big are your tires? Where did you get the fenders? I guess your a shorter guy since your front suspension is set to lower the bike? I’d be using all 8” of that travel. Looks like any decent hit and and your fender will be ...

I do hear the accessories that come with these models do suck and have to be replaced immediately, but the machine is said to be solid.
