Re: Historic "Deathbike" stolen in Oregon, $1500 reward

OMG ! i guess that people that stole it have no idea on how much important this very ebike bike was for Luke and the community!!! It would be great to have hyperspectral camera onboard of some Google satellite to track the blood traces like Luke is refering too !!!! Or find all traces of lost shooes...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Not sure there was pictures of the Sur Ron motor so i opened one ( a 2018) for your own pleasure  that motor had Hall sensor problem making the bike to have some cut out. We can see that there was water intrusion inside on the hall sensor cover and that it went down to the stator core base. Th...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

The current sensor seems very interesting. It is a "C" shape iron core with a hall sensor between the two ends. Notice that on the version i got the poting continue all the way up to the phases and power input leads and suround them with the plastic cover lower parté I had to tear it apart...

$/Amp price on them is much better than the old 4110's though. :-) The powerfull Fet have so much improoved since 10 years! Luke! Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Hey guys I have to say it take ton of patience to just remove the plastic cover! I pried 2 screwdriver and i tought multiple times i had forgot some screw hidden somewhere but not!! the plastic cover is glued also to the internal poting. This make all surrounding edge very strong to unstick from the...

Sur Ron motor shaft becoming hot

Hello guys, I got a Sur ron motor and controller recently to play with. I discovered that when running no load, the shaft is becoming significantly hot! I know that running a motor no load without power produced is a like a pure noise and heat generator and all energy is likely going into heat, but ...

As this topology is only a trace footprint reconfigure away from running any of the sits on top PCB packages, it would be exciting to see them reconfigure for these little guys. MY1020,Brushless BM1109 YALU, KUNRAY motors

Hello guys, Long time no post here. I'm back  I am about to modify the electric QUAD of my nephew that is now using MY1020 36V 800w at 29A for 2.8Nm on a 11T to 68T at the wheel. It has not alot of torque and i think it has alot of potential for upgrade. 8) I checked for QS motor options in th...

NEC 690: 50Vnom max vs 16s LiFePO4

About code. I see many mention that always talk about LESS THAN 50V system (in DC) however very few mention it's a NOMINAL voltage but not all. I think they should at least ALL mention nominal, max voltage, full voltage or charge or peak Voltages 48V in Lead acid is 57.6V full = over 50V 48V in 13s ...

Structural battery coming?

I found another interesting video about that.

That also is in line with what Luke workman told me about the next promising tech for battery, especially for airplaine.

On the opposite to regular Lithium cells like NMC, NCA, LiPO, LiCO etc, the LiFePo4 cells never realy improoved in energy density. They keep theyr life cycle incredible and flat discahrge curve. Personally io made many packs with LiFePo4 and mostly A123 pouch and round cells and i always prefered th...

I noticed doctorbass has been largely absent as well, though that could just be a coincidence. I've read through many of the old posts here at ES and it seems that at least a few of the people who seemed to be on the bleeding edge circa 2015 or so are either notably absent or no longer contributing...

Grid Tie Solar inverter hybrid 48vdc UL or CSA

I am actively searching for a inverter that is: -1 or 2 MPPT input ( idealy starting from 60VDC and not 200vdc as i have some string of 2x 60 cells panel only) -Grid Tie -Hybrid (battery backup input) -48Vdc ( not 24, not 12) -Certified UL or CSA. - 4kW and more It seem a real pain to find some that...

Re: Grid tie inverters and HV battery

Thanks cricketo, I did not know that there are battery-powered off-grid inverters that generate the sine wave necessary for grid-tied inverters. And that SMA does that. I saw great bargain of some large SMA inverter at very nice price however these are not split phase so you need two that i guess ar...

Battery powered micro inverter and parallel them !

Hello guys, In my solar project i am making some testing prior to see if some concept are working. In these...

On my side.. Yes they work in parallel... well at least the M190 that we today can find for about 10$ each used and still 100% working! I tried 2 in parallel from a batch that i bought from Ontario,Canada.. and YES it work !!! I got some 300W 60 cell panel and i tought it was a big sacrifice to let ...

The cheapest way to convert 48Vdc to kW of sine AC is to get used UPS !!! I got a APC 5000VA ( 4300Watts) for 200$ no battery inside. It work really well for the cost!!! similar to this one.. but it output 208Vthat i converted to splitphase 120-120AC https://www.kijiji.ca/v-electricite/laval-rive-no...
